117: Raid! Raid!

February end, year 24 of the wizard's path.

At a huge tree hollow somewhere in the Mist Forest.

“Bang…”

Captain Andre kicked Adler, who was sound asleep, awake.

“Get up, everyone’s up.”

“Quick, prepare for battle in ten minutes.”

Everyone woke up with a start, not speaking, each checking their own equipment.

Grimm meticulously inspected his Bio-armor according to the pre-battle checklist for the third version, ensuring it was in perfect condition.

Ten minutes passed quickly.

“Everyone, time is short.”

“I’ll briefly explain the situation. Shadow found a squad of Black Wizards, four in total, who were hunting Magic Beasts. Their actions were very suspicious, and they suddenly appeared on the escort route.”

“We initially suspect they are Black Wizards who had been hiding near the road. Command judges this to be bait thrown by the enemy, and orders us to depart immediately and take the bait.”

“Our tactical plan is the pre-arranged one—surprise decapitation. If anything seems off, retreat immediately, do not engage in prolonged combat.”

“Any questions?”

“None.” X4.

“Depart!”

“Head to zone ZX007, take the rightmost path.”

...Adler led the way; it was his turn to scout today.

The other four followed closely behind Adler.

Grimm silently brought up the rear of the team, acting as the rearguard.

It had been ten days since they left the Wizard Academy. Aside from the first three days spent traveling, Grimm and the others had been confined to a safe house, where eating, drinking, and using the facilities were very inconvenient, and they were far from all kinds of delicious food.

Although the satiety potions Grimm drank were all self-concocted and came in various flavors:

Grilled steak flavored;

Savory seafood flavored;

Sweet and sour fruit flavored;

Rich and creamy milk flavored;

Vegetable juice flavored with a rich texture;

...But.

For Grimm, this was still very stifling. Grimm immensely missed the days when he could eat large quantities of meat and drink large quantities of alcohol.

Therefore, to return to the Academy as soon as possible and eat fresh meat, Grimm decided to use all his strength to eliminate these Black Wizards as soon as possible.

“Raid! Raid!”

As soon as they reached the target area, Captain Andre gave the order for a full assault.

Grimm didn’t think about anything else, directly performing a stepping leap, swinging his Magic Gold Greatsword at the two black-robed knights in front of him.

“Cross Whirlwind Slash!”

“Pfft…”

A helmeted head flew into the air, and one arm of the other black-robed knight spun off and flew away.

“Ah…”

“Not good, this guy is tough, run!”

The two Black Wizards, who were slightly behind, were deeply shocked by the fierce and peerless aura of the raiding knight, who seemed like a lone rider charging through an army.

They immediately realized that this was not a strong person they could provoke.

A small whirlwind appeared at the feet of one black-robed figure, pulling him to speed off to the left.

The other black-robed figure “Splat…” shattered a vial, and a large cloud of smoke rose, and he vanished in an instant.

When disaster strikes, everyone fends for themselves. These Black Wizards were indeed skilled at escaping.

Grimm sneered… But unfortunately.

They had encountered the Devil Squad.

Grimm’s steps did not falter; he didn’t even glance back at the disarmed knight, directly pursuing the whirlwind black-robed figure to the left.

“Whoosh…”

“Hundred-step Pursuit!”

Grimm directly unleashed a speed-type knight’s secret technique.

After thirty steps, he successfully caught up with the Black Whirlwind Wizard.

“Whoosh…”

Grimm drew the javelin from the slot on his back, took a standard semi-supine stance to charge, and three seconds later, hurled the gleaming, cold javelin.

It hit the bullseye.

The 1.5-meter-long short javelin directly pierced the Black Whirlwind Wizard’s abdomen, pinning him firmly to a large tree that three people could barely embrace.

“Cough, cough…”

“My lord, please, spare me…”

“I have magic stones, and I have several precious Demonized Plantss. Oh, right, I also know the location of an Ancient Wizards’ ruin. Spare me, and I’ll tell you everything.”

“Too late…”

Grimm completely ignored what he was saying.

Resources? He wasn't lacking any. Fortuitous encounters? He wasn't interested.

With such a powerful patron, could there be any greater fortuitous encounter?

...Grimm simply and decisively disarmed the Black Whirlwind Wizard of his potential resistance.

First.

He slapped a Soul- 鎮魂 Nail into the back of his head and placed an Anti-magic Headband on his head.

This way, he could no longer use witchcraft, and even moving his Spiritual Power would be difficult.

Then.

Grimm broke his four limbs one by one, and used ropes made of black vine to bind him into a spherical shape, tying several dead knots that Grimm had uniquely created.

This would prevent him from using his physical strength.

As for the javelin stuck in his body, Grimm did not pull it out.

Instead, he directly carried the javelin, bringing the person back… By the time Grimm returned to the combat site.

Less than two minutes had passed.

The battle had also ended, and his teammates were cleaning up the battlefield.

Grimm also joined in, and after another two hurried minutes.

Everyone quickly left the battlefield, carrying two captives.

The entire battle ended very quickly; from engaging in combat to withdrawing from the battlefield, it took less than 10 minutes.

The emphasis was on speed.

After the Devil Squad left, even if there were any traps or enemy reinforcements, they probably wouldn’t find any trace of the Devil Squad… After a round of severe torture.

The Devil Squad did not get any useful information.

They only knew that they were Black Wizards from the Blood Bone Forest, who had received a mandatory mission and had been ambushed in the vicinity of this road for three months.

They had only received orders today to hunt and collect thirty kilograms of blood and five hundred kilograms of meat.

That was why they had no choice but to expose themselves.

Two ordinary High-level Knights + one Low-level Wizard Apprentice + one Intermediate Wizard Apprentice.

The Black Whirlwind Wizard Grimm pursued was the only Intermediate Wizard Apprentice.

“With this level of strength, they dared to participate in such a major event?”

“This is a conflict between three major powers. Even with my strength, I’m not confident I could emerge unscathed from this turmoil. How dare they?”

Finally.

Grimm personally sent these two sin-ridden Black Wizards on their way… During the intermission.

Wizard Andre explained his doubts to Grimm:

“Grimm…”

“The world of Black Wizards is very cruel.”

“Every Black Wizard is branded with a special mark, making it impossible for them to escape. They can only obediently come out and perform these mandatory missions.”

“For them, performing mandatory missions is basically a one-in-ten chance of survival.”

“Just like now, with their weak strength, encountering any anti-sniper squad would make it difficult for them to escape death.”

“They are merely cannon fodder pawns pushed out by the masterminds behind the scenes; it’s always this kind of tactic.”

“Now they’ve made their move, and we need to counter it.”

“Grimm, conserve your strength and stamina; there will be plenty of heads for you to chop later.”

Mentor Jordan was not present, so the task of guiding Grimm fell to Captain Andre.

Taking advantage of the free time, Captain Andre was also combining practical situations, step by step, imparting his decades of experience dealing with Black Wizards.

“Understood, Captain.”
