77: Awesome Biological Armor (Part 3)

“Cough, cough… Mmm…”

Oakes continued the unfinished conversation:

“To provide comprehensive safety for the Experimenter of the armor without activating the Guardian Wizard Array…”

“The academy’s mentors specifically designed this safety helmet.”

“This safety helmet was refined into a high-grade Demonic item, with Wizardry runes for sturdiness, reinforcement, shock absorption, cushioning, impact resistance, and so on, inscribed on both its inner and outer layers.”

“Experiments have shown that an Experimenter wearing this helmet can withstand a Wizardry bombardment of 40 Intensity without issue.”

“Even a Grand Knight, wielding a steel greatsword with both hands and striking with full force, cannot cleave through this safety helmet.”

“Wear the safety helmet, and it will ensure your safety all the way.”

“The academy is very dedicated to ensuring your head safety.”

“This way…”

“In normal conditions, a fully armored Bio-armor Experimenter has a thick layer of protection on every part of his body, providing Wizard Apprentices with more room for error, preventing them from being ambushed and instantly killed.”

“Under the protection of the Wizard Array, Wizard Apprentices can even utilize the invincible guardian force field of this apprentice stage, becoming a stationary cannon for output, providing powerful fire support for their teammates.”

“Of course, you can also perform a Knight’s charge, then stick to the enemy’s face and shove a fireball into his mouth, creating an artistic explosion like fireworks…”

Oakes winked and raised his eyebrows at Grimm, as if to say:

See, isn’t this what you’re after, Grimm? Grimm smiled, a very happy smile.

This tactic was Grimm’s dream.

When Grimm used to brag with Oakes and Bigg, he often brought up this tactic and highly praised it.

Oakes regained his serious expression and asked:

“Grimm, the Experimenter…”

“I have clearly explained the basic situation of bio-armor no. 8.”

“More details will require you to explore and understand them yourself during daily use.”

“Now, do you wish to try on the armor?”

…Grimm suppressed his excitement and surging emotions, saying:

“Yes, Oakes, I need your assistance.”

“Arm—or!”

As soon as Oakes heard the command “Armor,” he immediately began to outline the runes of the Hand of Wizardry in his mind:

“Hand of Wizardry…”

At the same time, he pulled out a tube of green plant active stimulant from a wooden box on the shelf, regularly dripping the agent onto the Demonic Black Vine at the joints of the two leg armors, chest armor, and back armor, while muttering incantations under his breath… Soon, the dark green agent slowly permeated into the Demonic Black Vine… Then, that section of the Demonic Black Vine began to twist and move, and the two leg armors also disconnected from the chest armor and back armor.

At this moment… an invisible large hand gripped the heavy left leg armor and slowly floated over, placing it in front of Grimm’s left leg.

Oakes gestured with his eyes to Grimm: Just put your left leg in… Looking at the pile of Demonic Black Vine still wriggling its body, like snakes awakened from hibernation… Grimm’s heart was in turmoil, as if he had developed trypophobia.

Seeing Grimm hesitate for a long time, Oakes couldn’t help but urge him:

“Grimm, the Experimenter, hurry up.”

“Just put your leg in and it’s done. If you delay too long, the agent will lose its effect.”

Grimm reluctantly replied:

“Okay, immediately.”

Die sooner or later, might as well die sooner and reincarnate sooner… Closing his eyes and hardening his heart, Grimm lifted his left leg and put it into the left leg armor.

Soon, after a tingling sensation, Grimm had finished donning the left leg armor.

The wriggling Demonic Black Vines seemed to be tickling Grimm, moving back and forth on his thigh.

At this moment… Grimm realized that the Demonic Black Vine was not so scary after all; it was just a bunch of dancing vines… People facing the unknown.

The first time is always filled with fear.

Especially things that look very frightening or challenge one’s perception and worldview.

They often bring more fear… But everything is scariest the first time; after bravely trying it once, the brave will receive generous rewards.

Just like Grimm now, after trying it once, he found the Demonic Black Vine to be nothing special… It just looked terrifying.

Grimm, having overcome his fear, quickly completed his full body armor with Oakes’s assistance… When he put on the last component—the safety helmet.

Grimm felt an unprecedented sense of fullness and security.

It was as if, under the protection of this armor, Grimm would be invulnerable to any harm.

This heavy armor felt particularly reassuring when worn.

The almost sealed armor was not stuffy, and Grimm could breathe enough air through the gaps between the Demonic Black Vines.

Grimm waited for Oakes to apply the plant active solidification agent to each joint, including the connection at the neck… Slowly, several minutes passed.

Grimm felt the Demonic Black Vine gradually quiet down; sensing its aura, it truly felt like a piece of deadwood.

The entire armoring process took almost twenty minutes… Oakes explained with a smile:

“Grimm, this is your first time donning the armor, so it was a bit slow.”

“According to the mentors’ research, after an Experimenter becomes proficient in the entire armoring process, the time usually takes around 12 minutes.”

“There’s no way around it; waking up the Demonic Black Vine and letting it go dormant are time-consuming processes that cannot be shortened.”

“Come, try to walk and exert force normally.”

Grimm’s voice was muffled through the helmet:

“Okay.”

“Thud… Thud… Thud… Thud…”

Grimm began to slowly move his feet, his body’s joints also turning.

At this moment… Grimm realized that the Demonic Black Vine was truly a miraculous plant.

Even though it had gone dormant and become a withered vine, it still firmly connected the various armor components and appeared extremely flexible… Grimm attempted several difficult yoga poses, such as the splits… As a result, he completed all of them smoothly.

This armor felt as if it had grown on Grimm’s body, incredibly snug and incredibly smooth… Grimm was like a child who had received a long-awaited toy.

The novel experience made Grimm eager to explore more possibilities of this armor.

Grimm excitedly tried various strange and wonderful movements:

Wing Chun;

Jeet Kune Do;

Whirlwind Kick;

Heart-Piercing Elbow;

Bagua Palm;

Monkey Fist;

Path of the Knight Combat Technique—Cross Slash!

…Grimm kept showing off and playing happily… Oakes watched from the side with an amused and envious expression.

He secretly thought to himself:

“It seems this armor is really suitable for Grimm.”

“Grimm can easily perform such strange and wonderful movements.”

“Sigh… Why didn’t I properly practice the Path of the Knight back then?”

“The last time I tried on this armor, I almost fell over after just two steps.”

“Really, otherwise I could also wear this Bio-armor and show off a bit…”

…“Grimm, familiarize yourself well here…”

“But be careful not to damage the items on the shelves.”

“I still have things to do. When it’s time for dinner, I’ll come back to help you disarm, okay?”

Oakes was asking for Grimm’s opinion; after all, it was working hours, and Oakes was there to serve Grimm’s armor. If he wanted to slack off, he had to clear it with Grimm first.

“No problem, you go do your thing.”

Grimm readily agreed.

It was also a bit inconvenient with Oakes there; Grimm had many unpresentable moves that he couldn’t perform in front of others.

After Oakes closed the door and left.

Grimm was the only one left in the armor no. 8 laboratory.

Grimm could play to his heart’s content… “Hmph, monster, where do you think you’re going…”

“Behold my ultimate move…”

“Thunder—Crescent Slash…”

“Heaven-Shaking Tidal Kill…”

“Mount Tai Meteorite Fall…”

“Jedi Meteor Hammer…”

“Lightning Whirlwind Split…”

“Sky-Breaking Ice Chop…”

“Absolute Breath—Shadow Frenzy Kill…”
