81: Warframe Training Phase 1 (Part 2)
A full-coverage helmet obscured Glynn's face.
Mentor Jordan did not notice Glynn's confusion and continued his lecture:
"The second aspect is to hone your perception and handling of danger."
"Glynn..."
"You've stayed in the peaceful and stable Wizard Academy for too long; your danger intuition has long been dulled. Therefore, to awaken your biological combat instincts and life-threatening intuition, you need to experience various different attacks and dangers."
"In this regard..."
"Although Mentor Elfast and I will try our best to control ourselves and not launch attacks that would severely injure you, the battlefield is ever-changing, and no one can predict what will happen next."
"To create a realistic combat environment for you, Mentor Elfast and I will not hold back."
"If you are unfortunately injured or severely wounded, you don't need to worry."
"Even my severe injuries were saved by the Academy back then."
"Now, the Academy's medical standards are much higher than in my time. Just turn left, and there's an emergency medical room equipped with a full set of treatment potions and life support pods (the Wizard World's ICU), staffed 24 hours a day."
"Glynn, I promise you, as long as you don't die on the spot, we can save you."
"At worst, you'll just stay there for a few more days; it's free anyway..."
"It's fine, Glynn, relax..."
...Hearing Mentor Jordan's words, Glynn became even more cautious.
Mentor Jordan had a record; if he said it, he would definitely do it!
Glynn had countless complaints he wanted to voice, but he dared not be distracted for a moment.
Fireballs whizzed over, and thorny vines occasionally emerged from under Glynn's feet...Mentor Elfast was actually a master who had grasped the super-magic technique—Multicast! He could cast two wizardry spells at once.
Glynn was under immense pressure but had to divide his attention to listen to Mentor Jordan's lecture. Mentor Jordan was Glynn's most respected teacher; his words were concise and important, and Glynn dared not ignore them.
As a result...when Glynn heard Mentor Jordan's lighthearted assurance—"I'll leave you a breath, kid."
He immediately became unsettled.
Listen to that? Did he just say that?
Is he even human?
..."Hoo..."
A massive magic wooden spike, from the dancing thorny bushes, pierced into the connection between Glynn's left shoulder guard and breastplate.
The Demonic Black Vine at this connection point snapped in a large section, and Glynn's left arm bone made a crisp "crack..." sound...It broke...The intense pain stimulated Glynn, causing cold sweat to break out.
And so...Glynn's movements sped up by three points, like a rabbit chased by a dog, leaping up and down...Mentor Jordan paid no attention to this minor scene and continued his lecture:
"The third aspect is to hone your survival skills."
"Armor, armor..."
"What were armors invented for? Wasn't it to protect oneself and increase one's survival ability?"
"On the battlefield, only those with sufficient survival ability can have the last laugh..."
"Glynn..."
"An arm like the one you just had broken, it broke without reason, it's regrettable, and it's worthless."
"This also exposed many of your flaws."
"You could have, with a slight shift of your body to the upper right, let the hardest part of your body, the part of your armor with the strongest protection, which is your breastplate, withstand this magic wooden spike."
"This is not difficult for you to do, Glynn."
"However, you did not adopt this optimal solution."
"Perhaps in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere, you could quickly think of this optimal solution."
"But in a tense and complex battle, you failed to think of this optimal solution."
"For this, you paid the price of an arm."
...Mentor Jordan watched Glynn jump around, gradually becoming more methodical, and nodded in satisfaction, continuing his lecture:
"Glynn, your combat comprehension is quite good."
"If I don't push you, you won't even know how much potential you have."
"Glynn, ponder this well."
"Combat is also a profound field of study, no less than Pharmacology."
"When you master combat, you will have enough confidence to survive. No matter what kind of environment, you will be able to confidently take the first step, instead of timidly hiding in the Wizard Tower to enjoy a moment of safety."
"Glynn, you must have a sense of crisis..."
"What if, and I mean what if, the five Sea Pirate Kings of the Mist Islands unite and attack our Wizard Tower, destroying all our defenses? Think about it, what could you do then? Could you escape from those brutal Black Wizards?"
"Glynn, our so-called combat power is not about comparing your theoretical data, but your comprehensive strength."
"Including your Wizard realm, Knight realm, the combat wizardry you've mastered, and more importantly, your fighting spirit and combat instincts."
"All of this, combined, reaches the pinnacle of the Wizard Apprentice stage, without any obvious shortcomings."
"This is what truly earns the title of—Peak Wizard Apprentice."
...Amidst Mentor Jordan's incessant chatter, over an hour passed.
Glynn had several new wounds on his body, but none were severe.
However, affected by his broken left arm, Glynn's overall condition began to decline, and he started to pant...Mentor Jordan, as usual, ignored Glynn's miserable state; this was just the beginning, it wasn't even miserable yet...Mentor Jordan continued his lecture:
"Glynn..."
"I've been fighting for decades and teaching students for over twenty years."
"Throughout these years, I have been exploring a course—"
"How to gradually transition a Wizard Apprentice, accustomed to peace and safety, to the exciting battlefield surrounded by slaughter and death."
"To make apprentices more willing to enter combat, enjoy the thrill of killing, and appreciate the beautiful art of battle, rather than fearing it like a tiger and turning pale at the mention of it..."
"Ultimately, I summarized a set of effective scientific theories."
..."That is—"
"To learn how to hit others, the first step is to learn how to take a hit."
"Only by enduring the most painful beatings can the most skilled offensive warriors be forged."
"Only warriors who can withstand countless blows and damages can establish an indomitable fighting spirit of 'I am invincible, drawing my sword against any foe'!"
"And only in blood and death can the crown of a hero be forged!"
At this moment...Mentor Jordan's eyes burst with infinite brilliance, his fervent fighting passion burning his eyes red like a madman, he picked up a longsword and charged towards Glynn.
"Face the storm, Glynn..."
