156: The Game of the Big Brothers (Part 2)

“Hmph…”

“Blood Hawk Lord” Wizard Yadisi snorted coldly, a disdainful sneer escaping his nostrils, and the smile vanished from his face.

On one side, Wizard Yadisi saw Wizard Joyce and Wizard Malthus acting completely unyielding, while on the other side, the four wizards representing the other four Wizard Academies watched with cold eyes, appearing to enjoy the spectacle.

He decided to drop the pretense, and Wizard Yadisi said coldly:

“Oh, I don’t need you seniors to teach me how to do things.”

“Instead, Lord Joyce should consider how to handle his affairs after his death. After painstakingly raising them for over a hundred years, all he’s got is a bunch of good-for-nothings.”

“Presumably, these unaccomplished fellows should be the ones you, this kind old senior who loves to teach, should be instructing the most.”

“Heh heh…”

“So what if I let you have this fruit of life?”

“Trash is trash. Even if they eat the fruit of life, they’ll still be trash. I’d like to see what good will come of you emptying your family’s coffers like this?”

“Cough cough…”

Lord Joyce, with his white hair, remained as calm and composed as ever. He coughed a few times lightly and responded nonchalantly:

“It seems that old bat passed his glib tongue talent to you, Wizard Yadisi. Your skill at verbal sparring has truly inherited his essence. I just wonder how your actual combat skills are.”

“Kid, how about we have a match, a real fight? It would save us from this boring wait.”

“Alright, waiting here is indeed boring. If Lord Joyce is willing to demonstrate some combat experience for us juniors, that would be excellent. I support it…”

“I also agree. We have nothing to do anyway, so we can spar and exchange combat experiences…”

“Yes, I agree. I’ve been in seclusion for decades and my hands are itching. We can spar with each other! Wizard Yadisi, count me in. After you and Lord Joyce finish sparring, I’d also like to experience your skills…”

“Excellent, excellent. It’s wonderful for the two of you to have a friendly spar. It’s a rare gathering for us, a grand event that hasn’t happened in decades. I also support it…”

“Lord Joyce, it’s been over a hundred years since I’ve seen you make a move. This is a good opportunity to guide these younger generations and let these inexperienced youngsters truly appreciate a senior’s demeanor. I also support it. How about I be the referee?”

…When the many Formal Wizards heard that it was going to be for real, they immediately got excited.

They all spoke up in support, and some who enjoyed a good spectacle even wanted to join in. They chattered back and forth, participating enthusiastically, creating quite a lively scene… Hearing all this, the people who had just been indifferent, aloof, and pretending it didn’t concern them, all started to jeer loudly. Wizard Wizard Yadisi’s face gradually darkened. This was not the outcome he wanted.

Although Wizard Joyce was old, he was not dead or seriously injured.

For a Formal Wizard, as long as it wasn’t the last moment of life and the body’s functions hadn’t completely collapsed, the powerful Spiritual Power of a Formal Wizard was enough to maintain one’s peak combat strength.

A old wizard who had lived for over four hundred years, nearing 500 years, and was a renowned peak first-tier wizard—no one knew how many trump cards he still held or how much power he possessed.

Moreover, the Plant Heart Wizard Academy was able to establish itself firmly on the Mist Coast for over a hundred years entirely due to the efforts of Lord Joyce. Over a hundred years ago, three Formal Wizards from Blood Fortress attacked him simultaneously, and he defeated them, killing one and seriously injuring two.

It could be said that the Plant Heart Wizard Academy, founded by Wizard Joyce, completely used the Blood Fortress Wizard Academy as a stepping stone, rising to power over the corpses of Blood Fortress.

It was also after that battle that Blood Fortress completely declined. Now, it only has one seriously injured old dean, plus Wizard Yadisi, who became a Formal Wizard 50 years ago—these two Formal Wizards.

Wizard Yadisi hadn’t lived enough yet. How could he possibly truly fight Wizard Joyce? He just wanted to engage in some verbal sparring and mock his old enemy. After all, no matter how formidable Wizard Joyce was, he was still nearing his death, and his legacy had no successor. The Blood Fortress Academy would still be the ultimate winner… Wizard Yadisi put on a smiling face again and said, chuckling to himself:

“Everyone, everyone, I was just joking, just joking…”

“How dare I lay a hand on Lord Joyce?”

“That would be a great disrespect! The tradition of us White Wizards is to respect teachers and value the Dao, and to respect the old and cherish the young! I deeply admire Lord Joyce. Please don’t put me in an unrighteous and disloyal position…”

“Besides, before I left, my old dean specifically instructed me to treat Lord Joyce with the courtesy of a disciple. I must properly respect the old senior. How can I fight and kill and hurt our harmony?”

“Don’t you agree, both old seniors?”

“Hehe…”

“Don’t ask me; I’m not your senior.”

Wizard Malthus stroked his grizzled beard and said nonchalantly:

“You’re like a dog-faced person, a dignified Formal Wizard who doesn’t even care about his reputation.”

“So what if Lord Joyce beats you up? You won’t lose a piece of flesh. Surely he wouldn’t kill you in front of everyone, would he?”

…“Haha…”

“No matter what, we are all White Wizards, and everyone here is a partner from the Seven Towers Alliance. I certainly wouldn’t do such a thing.”

Wizard Joyce gently rubbed the pigeon-egg-sized green gem on his gray-white staff with his fingertips, smiling faintly as he said:

“Wizard Yadisi, I once sparred with some of your seniors from Blood Fortress. Your bloodline wizardry truly has some unique aspects. I imagine that after more than a hundred years, you must have made great progress.”

“How about we spar a couple of moves? I can give you some pointers and see what changes your bloodline wizardry has undergone, and how much of the old blood bat’s standard you’ve reached?”

…“Haha…”

Wizard Yadisi quickly laughed it off, attempting to change the subject.

“Lord Joyce, there’s no need for that. If you want to see the progress of Blood Fortress, these little brats below will perform for you.”

“I think there are no issues with this round of drawing lots. So, let’s do it this way: our two factions will fight a battle in the Mist Forest. It will also serve to test how much true teaching these junior wizards have received.”

“Cough cough…”

“Time’s up!”

“Perfect, let’s all work together to open the Elven Secret Realm. We mustn’t delay the main business…”
