24: Death Crisis

In the afternoon, there was only one major class on modern wizard languages.

Time passed quickly.

Just as Green was packing up, preparing to go to the library.

Adler, who looked like a humanoid berserk bear, walked over and fiercely put his arm around Green's shoulder.

“Green…”

“My good brother…”

“I'm so happy you're here to accompany me.”

During their internship at the Botanical Garden, the two got along well and both loved delicious food.

Ever since Green and Adler's hamburger competition, their relationship had progressed by leaps and bounds, and they had become good friends who could joke with each other.

“Adler!”

“Gently…”

“Don't you know how strong you are?” Green quickly raised his voice and struggled, saying,

“What are you looking for me for? I'm going to the library later, not the Botanical Garden.”

“Oh, why go to the library?”

“This morning during morning exercises, Mentor Jordan specifically told me to take you to the Knight Training Ground.”

“Didn't you sign up for Mentor Jordan's Devil Training Camp?”

“The first class of our Devil Training Camp is about to start.”

Adler's eyes widened. His already large eyes, bigger than a bull's, became even larger, giving him a somewhat foolishly cute look.

“Wait,”

Green then remembered what Ally had arranged yesterday. The morning's experience was too embarrassing, leaving Green's head still a bit muddled.

“Adler,”

“Look,”

“Isn't Mentor Jordan's class three times a week? His class isn't until tomorrow.”

Green took out the newly distributed detailed schedule and pointed it out to the big guy. “Green, that's Mentor Jordan's normal teaching assignment, a course to guide ordinary apprentices to become official knights.”

“Your class is the same as mine…”

“They are exclusive training camps that only bloodline users and knight geniuses can participate in, for the purpose of becoming Grand Knights.”

“So the teaching arrangements aren't on the schedule. Mentor Jordan was afraid you wouldn't know, which is why he asked me to pick you up,” Adler said with a simple smile.

“Oh, by the way, I haven't congratulated you on awakening your bloodline yet.”

“I knew it, you eat so much.”

“Green, who can eat only three fewer jumbo burgers than Adler, you must not be an ordinary person.”

“Now it's good, I have a companion.”

“Hurry up, or Mentor will be angry if we're late.”

Adler directly dragged Green out. With his 800-pound weight and the strength of a high-level knight, pulling Green, who weighed only 300 pounds, was like an eight-foot tall northeastern man pulling a five-year-old southern child.

“What do you mean you have a companion?”

“Is it that no one in the training camp talks to you, and you've been isolated?”

Green could only cooperate, following Adler's footsteps. No matter what, Green had to go and see.

“No…”

“Since a Senior broke through to Grand Knight three months ago, I'm the only one left in the training camp.”

“Green, do you know?”

“How I've spent these three months?”

“No one talks to me during training. I'm so bored.”

Green was instantly dumbfounded.

There were so few people in the training camp, just two.

Adler was already a high-level knight, while Green was still just a probationary knight.

So how could Green muddle through?

This would become one-on-one private tutoring, which would be deadly… “That…”

“My good brother…”

“I suddenly remembered that Senior Reinhardt was looking for me.”

“I need to hurry to Old Moler's Botanical Garden.”

“Hey, let go of me, let go… let go…” Green casually made an excuse, trying to trick Adler into releasing him.

Unfortunately, it didn't work. Adler's large hand was like a huge and powerful vise, firmly locking down all of Green's escape routes.

“It's okay, I'll explain for you then.”

“Senior Reinhardt is a very good person.”

“Let's go see Mentor Jordan first, he's in a hurry.”

Don't let Adler's muscular physique fool you; a Wizard Apprentice's brain is definitely not made of muscle.

He had known Green for almost half a year.

He had some understanding of Green's temperament.

Green was cowardly and afraid of death, and also had a tendency towards passive masochism.

If he let Green run away now.

The fearful Green would definitely not participate in Mentor Jordan's Devil Training Camp again, and Adler would lose his companion. Adler would not allow this to happen.

But as long as Green was brought before Mentor Jordan, making it a fait accompli.

The fearful Green would certainly not dare to run.

Moreover, after Green tasted the benefits of the training camp, he would definitely exclaim, “It smells so good.”

Although Adler didn't know what “it smells so good” actually meant.

Adler guessed that this should be an expression of happiness from Green's hometown… Adler pulled and dragged Green all the way… out of the south gate of the Wizard Tower.

They passed four or five Botanical Gardens… and arrived in front of a tall stone building near the edge of the Academy's Guardian Wizard Array.

Most striking was a five-meter-tall monster statue in front of the door.

It was incredibly ugly, with two huge tusks exposed, its body covered in stacked muscle blocks, and thick black fur.

This image wouldn't need makeup to play a demon; just standing there would surely scare a group of little children.

“Isn't it mighty? Isn't it magnificent?”

“This is the source of Mentor Jordan's awakened bloodline — the Ancient Devil Giant Ape.”

“When I make a name for myself later.”

“I also want to make a huge statue of an Earth Bear and place it at my doorstep.”

“That's truly awe-inspiring…”

Adler said with a chuckle, describing his ambitions to Green.

“Uh…”

Green looked at the statue in front of him, his face full of black lines.

This thing, is it a monkey?

How is this related to a monkey?

If it weren't for Adler not telling lies, Green wouldn't believe this was some Ancient Devil Giant Ape; Ancient Devil was more like it.

“What, you're not interested in my statue?”

A deep, gentle, and magnetic voice came from behind Green… Green felt a cold wind Attack his back… all the hairs on his body stood up… the intuition in his mind kept sounding alarms, as if a ferocious beast was crouching behind Green, opening its huge blood-filled mouth, silently waiting for its prey to come to it.

“I'll die… I'll die… I'll definitely die if I turn around…”

Green's Spiritual Power was stimulated intensely, his whole body trembled uncontrollably, and his mind was blank… He could only quietly, like a lamb awaiting slaughter, helplessly wait for the pronouncement of death… “Mentor, you're here…”

“Mentor, this is Green, the new student you mentioned this morning who's joining the training camp.”

“Green, this is Mentor Jordan.”

Adler's words saved Green.

The death crisis behind him suddenly vanished without a trace, as if it had never existed in this world.

The fresh scent of earth entered Green's nose, the crisp chirping of birds reached Green's ears, and the colors of the entire world seemed to come alive.

Only Green's sweat-soaked clothes bore witness to what had happened. Green gasped for air, breathing heavily.

He probably guessed something.

Adler's face showed sympathy, he said nothing more, and the owner of the voice also remained silent. Both waited quietly for Green to recover… Green's gasps lasted for a long time.

This was Green's first true face-to-face encounter with the crisis of death.

Before, whether on Aqua Blue Star or at Plant Heart Wizard Academy, Green had grown up in a peaceful and friendly atmosphere.

Although Green had suffered bullying and intimidation from school bullies during middle school on Aqua Blue Star:

“Don't leave after school, I'll get someone to deal with you!”

This made Green fearful for several days, deeply afraid of being beaten.

But compared to what he had just experienced, it was like comparing a small witch to a great one.

That feeling of the entire world suddenly turning dark and oppressive, with consciousness seemingly about to sink in the next second, while Green was weak and helpless, unable to do anything.

Green never wanted to experience it a second time.

“Strength, I need more powerful strength!”
