93: Selection of the main direction of attack (I)

Early January, Year 23 of the wizard's path.

Wizard Tower, Battle Axe Bar.

Having just finished a tense round of assessments, Mentor Jordan grandly offered to treat everyone to a meal, to reward their hard work.

After a round of drinks, everyone began to relax.

"Green, have you made up your mind?"

"Which direction are you planning to focus on as your main specialty?"

Adler took a huge gulp from his large beer mug, not caring that half the liquid spilled from the corners of his mouth.

His main characteristic was his straightforwardness.

"I'd actually like to choose the safest option, Support Wizard. Don't you think my 'Praise of Plants' is coming along nicely?"

Green also took a refreshing sip of his drink, joking with his friend.

"Uh..."

"No, that won't do..."

"Although you'd be a good Support Wizard, it's impossible. Give up on that idea."

Adler quickly said.

"You, wearing such good Bio-armor, still want me to protect you? Aren't you just joking around?"

"Adler, you're so easily fooled. Didn't you hear Green was just kidding?"

Bernat, the Scout Wizard with unique beautiful long green hair, was particularly lively tonight. He showed none of the usual quietness from training, constantly toasting with his teammates and loudly indulging himself.

"Perhaps he's been lurking alone for too long and is feeling stifled," Green thought to himself.

Previously, when Green participated in the Scout Wizard's stealth training, he was required to lie hidden in a secret corner for three days and three nights.

It was like a sniper's fixed-point ambush; he couldn't move or make much noise. Lying in a pile of rotten leaves, with a heap of mud beneath him, the disgusting smell, and the unpalatable satiety potions all made Green suffer immensely.

Green swore he would never, ever choose to be a Scout Wizard... "Green, choose to be a Crowd Control Wizard."

At this moment, Captain Andre also came over and said.

"The Crowd Control Wizard has the greatest development potential, the strongest power, and is relatively safe."

"Green, when you mature in a few years, you can even take over my position and carry on the name of our Devil Squad."

"Yes, Green, hurry and agree."

Monica, the Wizard, assisted from the side.

"Captain Andre has even reserved the captain's seat for you! The captain gets an extra 15% of the earnings. Aren't you tempted?"

Bernat, the Wizard, suddenly asked:

"Captain, why are you giving up your position to a newcomer so early? That doesn't follow the rules."

"Rules?"

"What are rules?"

"Strength is the only rule."

Captain Andre said indifferently.

"For my captain's position, if you don't have strength, don't talk to me about rules."

Bernat immediately lowered his head and said nothing more... This year of training.

It had made everyone in the Devil Squad realize Green's potential and strength.

In terms of combat power.

Currently, in the Devil Squad, apart from Captain Andre, no one could consistently overpower Green.

That was Green without his bio-armor no. 8.

If Green put on that bio-armor no. 8, he could now easily defeat everyone in the Devil Squad, even Captain Andre.

And in a few years...

Once Green had seen some bloodshed and gained more experience, surpassing Captain Andre in combat power would be no problem.

In terms of potential.

Green, having only cultivated for about 20 years, appeared exceptionally young.

Aside from Adler, which member of the Devil Squad hadn't been cultivating for at least ten years longer than Green?

No one knew what level Green would reach in ten years.

So... Captain Andre also had his own calculations in mind, wanting to firmly bind Green, this promising stock, to the Devil Squad's war chariot... "Green..."

Seeing Green still thinking, Captain Andre quickly struck while the iron was hot.

"Perhaps this extra income from being captain isn't something you care about."

"However, Green, judging from your training performance this year, other specializations would be too unchallenging for you; you'd master them perfectly in just one or two months."

"Only the Crowd Control Wizard specialization took you over three months to barely pass."

"In terms of grasping the battle situation and controlling the battlefield, Green, you still have significant shortcomings."

"A great Ancient Wizard, Grag-Woo, once said: 'Where you fall, there you rise.'"

"Crowd Control Wizard is your best choice."

"As for the captain's position, you don't have to take it immediately. You can learn from me for a few years first, complete a few more missions, gain more experience, and you'll gradually grow."

"By then, I'll be ready to retire..."

"I've been fighting for most of my life, and my grandson has already started studying at the Wizard Academy. It's time for me to enjoy some well-deserved rest."

... "Old Andre, you're thinking of enjoying life so early?"

Monica, the Wizard, said with a half-smile:

"Then what about me, who's a few years older than you?"

"Besides, didn't you say you wanted to save up some cultivation resources for your grandson, so he could surpass my granddaughter and then marry her?"

"What, you don't want to do it anymore? Then what about your grandson later?"

"Sigh, don't even mention it..."

"I was naive..."

"I shouldn't have thought so much."

Andre, the Wizard, said regretfully at this moment.

"I spent my life's hard-earned savings to help my son pass his graduation exam, get a permanent residency permit for the Wizard Tower, and even helped him marry a wife and have a child. Now, at my age, I'm still out fighting and earning money to support my family."

"But that good-for-nothing grandson of mine said that the workplace at the Wizard Academy was too competitive, and his talent in Pharmacology was limited. He was stuck as a 2-Star Apprentice Alchemist for seven or eight years, losing all his motivation, so he just 'lay flat.'"

"Oh, Green, I remember you also studied Pharmacology in the alchemy laboratory, didn't you? Do you know what my son means by 'lying flat'?"

... "Uh..."

Green really didn't know when the "new term" of "lying flat" had appeared in the Wizard Tower.

Could it be that the Wizard World also had some wonderfully imaginative geniuses who created the "lying flat" culture?

Perhaps it had even grown and developed in places Green didn't know about.

"But why have I never heard of this 'lying flat' culture in the Wizard Tower?" Green thought to himself.

"I really want to 'lie flat' too. How comfortable it would be to 'lie flat,' to wake up whenever I want, not having to get up so early to study every day. How great would that be..."

"Unfortunately, I don't have the capital to 'lie flat.'"

"I really envy Captain Andre's son, who can 'lie flat' even in the Wizard World."
