10: Then you can't blame me.
"Really? Then I'll have your Boyfriend treat us to a meal, you don't mind, right?"
Xia Mi, as usual, maintained a carefree exterior, hugging Si Nan's neck intimately upon meeting. In reality, she just wanted a free feast.
Si Nan pushed her hand away and walked straight to the underground warehouse elevator. "Sure, why should I feel sorry for him? Order whatever you want then, order the most expensive things, everything you usually can't bear to order."
Xia Mi, not sensing anything unusual, burst into laughter. "Hahaha, as expected of my good buddy, so generous."
Oh right, the warehouse supervisor said we have to come again tomorrow night. Maybe everyone was scared by the cold air; many people caught colds early. Cold medicine at the pharmacy is almost sold out. Things like instant noodles, self-heating meals, semi-processed meats, etc., were all snatched up. Several truckloads will arrive tomorrow night.
"Colds? You mean a flu outbreak outside?" Si Nan paused her steps into the elevator. She remembered that before the zombie outbreak in her previous life, there were no signs. Why did things feel even more severe after being reborn?
Or was she just too carefree and didn't pay attention before?
Xia Mi nodded frantically like a chicken pecking at rice, complaining to her friend, "Yeah, yeah! What have you been doing these past two days? Building rockets behind closed doors? You don't even know what's happening outside."
What did she know!
She was focused entirely on stocking up, not even glancing at any handsome guys passing by—provided none were as good-looking as Luo Sen. Perhaps because she slept in Luo Sen's bed (there was no choice, as Luo Sen only had one bed), even in her dreams at night, all she saw were Luo Sen's alluring long legs.
She seriously suspected she had transformed from a good girl into a deeply obsessed fangirl.
"Sigh, it feels like you didn't just cut your hand, you cut your brain too." Xia Mi shook her head and walked out of the elevator. Suddenly, she turned back, her eyes bright as she looked at Si Nan.
"Oh right, buddy, the supermarket took a lot of imported semi-processed meats and many snacks with three months left on their shelf life off the shelves. Can you lend me some money?"
Si Nan directly held out her hand. "Then pay back the 500 you borrowed last month first. Then lend me 5,000 yuan. I need to pay next year's rent at the end of the month, and I'm short by a lot."
Trying to borrow money from her again? No way! She never paid it back in the previous life!
"Uh-heh-heh, then I won't buy it, okay?" Xia Mi scurried away.
Considering that Xia Mi was the one who introduced her to this part-time job, grievances were one thing, but she still owed her a favor. Especially since without Xia Mi, she wouldn't have had the chance to work here part-time, nor would she have the opportunity to clear out this super huge warehouse, allowing her to live comfortably in the apocalypse.
So, she shouted to the fleeing Xia Mi, "Buy it! Don't feel bad about the money, buy a lot more! Maybe this flu is the end of the world!"
What she said was the absolute truth. She deliberately emphasized the words 'buy a lot more.' Considering the 500 yuan as repayment for Xia Mi's favor, from then on, they would owe each other nothing.
But the distant Xia Mi didn't catch the underlying meaning at all. Instead, she covered her mouth and laughed, only thinking Si Nan was mocking her. "You little brat, are you asking for a beating? What end of the world? I think you've developed paranoia."
A single wrong thought led to Xia Mi regretting it to death after the apocalypse arrived.
"Sigh, then don't blame me." Si Nan curved her lips. The favor was repaid, and she had spoken the truth. It was just a pity Xia Mi didn't believe it herself.
She immediately went back to check the secretly kept duty roster in the warehouse security room, silently noting the duty personnel and numbers for the end of the month, then mentally calculated how to strike before the apocalypse arrived.
Going down to the warehouse, Si Nan saw the seemingly endless, enormous warehouse. She no longer felt the area was too big. Before, she always felt she couldn't walk across it, but now, every step she took on the warehouse floor felt like walking on clouds; she was too happy.
Thinking about the billions in supplies stored here soon being hers, becoming her crucial resources for survival in the apocalypse, she couldn't stop feeling excited.
What was stored here wasn't just fully stocked, various daily necessities, such as food and drinks, clothing, shoes, bags, cosmetics, and hardware tools, among others.
There were even luxury cars, various electrical appliances, sports equipment, regular mobile phones, drones, barrels of diesel and gasoline, and even generators.
It could be said that everything sold in other supermarkets was here, and things other supermarkets didn't have were also here—many categories, covering everything. Before her was a mountain of cola, and next to it were neatly stacked orange juice, coconut juice, Sprite, and beer, and so on.
She couldn't look anymore. If she kept looking, she feared she might impulsively wave her hand and collect everything into her space right now. Then she would enter jail dreaming sweetly, waiting to die.
After unloading for three hours, Xia Mi really left early without buying anything, claiming she had to work the next day. In reality, she was too embarrassed to stay because she had no money.
Si Nan was different. She lied, saying a colleague asked her to help purchase items, and bought all the discounted goods, and at a very low price.
Listening to light music all the way home, she took a nice hot bath, sketched out plans for the next day's shopping spree, and fell asleep.
After unloading the next day, Si Nan again bought all the discounted goods that had just arrived due to damaged packaging, after Xia Mi left.
Not only that, before leaving, she went shopping again for staple foods and bottled water/mineral water before the large supermarket closed.
She felt it wasn't enough; staple foods and water were especially important. The large empty barrels bought online were for bathing water. For drinking, bottled water or mineral water was better. As for water for washing clothes?
"Why don't I just dig a water well in the yard? Even if the water gets contaminated later, it won't happen instantly deep underground. Hahaha, I'm such a clever girl."
Lying in bed that night, Si Nan rolled around fiercely to praise her own intelligence.
On the third day, she inquired from multiple sources and finally found a decent drilling company. After negotiating the price and location, she told them to start drilling immediately; otherwise, she'd have to go through the hassle again after renovations were finished.
With the water well taken care of, Si Nan continued her shopping spree. Today's focus was on sanitary napkins and toiletries. Aunt Flo is a relative that sticks around for decades; she must be treated seriously. Stock up blindly; once the apocalypse hits, she won't be able to leave the house, so what would she do without these things?
Correspondingly, the toilet paper and facial tissues to accommodate Aunt Flo couldn't be forgotten; she needed to stock up as much as possible. During her morning exercise run, she placed an order on her phone.
She needed to stock up on handmade goods now too, a two-pronged approach. Once she entered a supermarket, she couldn't get out, specifically buying all-cotton, super-absorbent sanitary napkins, 200-gram, five-layer thickened toilet paper, and large-sized, thickened facial tissues. She grabbed them blindly and stuffed them into two shopping carts without sparing any expense.
She went in and out of each supermarket three times in a row; doing more might arouse suspicion. Afterward, she visited small roadside convenience stores and general stores for supplementary stock.
When passing a major brand 4S dealership, she thought about stopping in to buy a good off-road vehicle, so that when she absolutely had to go out during the apocalypse, she could plow through hordes of zombies and accomplish great things.
Then she thought again---
