221: Get 100,000 crystal cores for free
Luo Sen squinted. "Are you saying that giant python can breathe fire?"
Ji Yan felt a headache coming on just mentioning this giant python, beating his chest and stomping his feet. "It's more than just breathing fire; its speed is incredibly fast and not stiff at all. It evolved as if it hadn't turned into a Zombie Beast, its body is exceptionally flexible."
The even more terrifying thing is that its skin and scales are absolutely indestructible. Our machine guns can't pierce them; a bullet hitting it just results in a flash of sparks. We've switched to high-powered sniper rifles now."
Fortunately, we ran into you, otherwise we wouldn't know how many years it would take to hunt it down."
Luo Sen looked at him askance. "What's the benefit of helping you hunt it?"
"Benefit? You want a benefit for eliminating a public menace?" Ji Yan's mouth hung open, seeing Luo Sen being so shameless for the first time.
"Oh? You don't plan on showing a little appreciation? Then forget it, go ahead and kill it slowly yourselves." Luo Sen simply started to walk away.
Ji Yan quickly stopped him. "Fine, I give in. How about this, you help me advance again, and I'll give—I'll give you one hundred crystal cores."
"Goodbye!" Luo Sen continued walking, this time faster than before, his steps even more determined.
Ji Yan's mouth twitched violently as he pointed at Luo Sen's back and shouted, "Robber! One thousand cores!"
"Deal!" Luo Sen immediately backed up. One thousand crystal cores was already an astronomical amount of income for them; this business deal was not a loss.
Right there on the spot, Luo Sen spent ten minutes helping Ji Yan break through to a Rank Five Warrior, and he took all the crystal cores Ji Yan had used up, then happily ran off to hunt the Zombie Beast giant python.
By the time Ji Yan stabilized his realm, the man had already run far away.
Inside an abandoned factory, the giant python was hiding and recovering from its injuries. Its tail had been pierced by a sniper rifle and wouldn't stop bleeding. Even the scales on its tail had been blasted off, revealing dark, mangled flesh.
It coiled up and hissed, plotting to hunt down those humans for revenge once its wounds healed. Just then, Luo Sen burst in with the three young men.
"Hiss, hiss!" It alertly straightened its body, opening its bloody maw to reach for Luo Sen and the others descending from above, wanting to swallow the four of them in one gulp.
"Taste my fireball." Wang Zhan threw a large fireball down, right into the giant python's mouth.
Zhou Zhi, from the Strength Ability class, lifted a thick, round log and smashed it down toward the giant python's head. With a loud "bang," the python was left seeing stars, and it began frantically swinging its massive tail to attack Zhou Zhi and Wang Zhan.
Mao Xin landed on the ground, moving close to the giant python's belly. Gathering his strength, he slashed at the python's abdomen with the sharp ancient saber in his hand.
Following a crisp "rip" sound, the giant python's indestructible thick scales were sliced open with a deep gash. Its internal organs spilled onto the ground, and the air was instantly filled with a foul stench, disgusting Luo Sen to no end.
"Kill it quickly." Luo Sen felt like he was going to vomit even while wearing a protective hood.
"Got it, Brother Sen, stand back a bit so you don't get splashed with black blood." Mao Xin sped up, dodging the snake's tail to attack the python's belly again, this time getting close to its vital seven-inch mark.
Wang Zhan used fireballs to distract the giant python, while Zhou Zhi used the large wooden club to coordinate with Wang Zhan in a combined assault. Mao Xin focused solely on sneak attacks, the three of them working in perfect harmony.
Luo Sen was responsible for standing to one side and watching the battle.
Suddenly, "Whoosh!"
The giant python was enraged. It breathed out a blast of flames, sweeping across Zhou Zhi and Wang Zhan, while the surrounding flammable items were set ablaze.
The two young men were already battle-hardened; they nimbly scrambled away to dodge the flames, then continued attacking the giant python from different angles, making it unable to defend both its head and tail, causing it to hiss and scream in frustration.
It could only swing its injured massive tail to attack Zhou Zhi and Wang Zhan, forgetting that there was still Mao Xin.
The gleaming ancient saber stabbed into its belly. Mao Xin followed through in one breath, gripping the hilt with both hands and using all his strength to slash downward.
"Hiss, hiss—" The giant python, which had evolved intelligence, already knew pain. It was driven mad by the agony, its mouth incessantly spitting flames. The temperature in the room rose rapidly, filled with a raging inferno.
Unfortunately, it was finished. Its seven-inch mark was sliced open, and its massive body fell heavily to the ground. A crystal core the size of a fist flowed out from the seven-inch mark along with its internal organs.
Mao Xin used a plastic bag to pick up the crystal core, washed it clean, and handed it to Luo Sen.
Luo Sen curled his lips in satisfaction. "Mm, good coordination, but your speed still isn't fast enough. Continue training when we get back. This crystal core is enough for the four of you to break through to the next rank; try it when we return."
"Yes, Brother Sen! Thank you, Brother Sen!" Mao Xin and the other two were overjoyed upon hearing this; they could finally break through to the next rank.
When they returned, Ji Yan and the others were still there waiting for news. Upon learning that the giant python had been killed, everyone breathed a sigh of relief. "It had to be you."
Luo Sen pointed at Mao Xin and the other two. "It wasn't me, those three killed it. I was only responsible for watching the battle."
"You? You old fox." Ji Yan instantly felt like he had been swindled. One thousand crystal cores—that was what they had painstakingly earned by killing a thousand large zombies and Zombie Beasts.
Luo Sen calmly replied to him, "It's not the first time."
"Fine." Ji Yan covered his face, his heart nearly giving out from being provoked by Luo Sen's sharp tongue.
The other teammates looked at Luo Sen as if looking at the stars in the sky, their admiring eyes sparkling. "What are you doing?"
In an instant, Luo Sen was surrounded. A group of teammates took out their accumulated crystal cores and asked Luo Sen for help. "We beg Brother Luo to help us advance too. All the crystal cores used will be given to Brother Luo."
"We beg you, Brother Luo!"
Every one of them knew that Luo Sen was the son of those two outstanding figures in Barrier City. This one was even more extraordinary—a big boss. If they didn't ask now, when would they?
Soon, a small hill of cores piled up in front of Luo Sen. These were all the crystal cores they had accumulated since starting their mission, including the stock inside the helicopter. They had been out on this mission for half a month already, bombing a group and picking up a batch of crystal cores; they were of various sizes and quite numerous.
"So many?" Even Luo Sen was shocked. He thought he had accumulated a lot since the start of the Apocalypse, at least tens of thousands, all in Si Nan's space.
But seeing so many brought out at once truly startled him.
Ji Yan gave a mischievous smile. "It is indeed a lot, about one hundred thousand. But the firepower we've used isn't small either. The fighter jet's firepower is fierce; whenever we encounter a large gathering of zombies and Zombie Beasts, we fight from the air, just bombing away."
Once they're bombed to death, all that's left is to pick up the crystal cores. This is everything from the half-month mission, and it's the most we've ever gotten. Hey, hey, hey, you're being too unfair, taking them all?
At least leave us a little to report back with! Luo Sen, you black-hearted man!"
Luo Sen wasn't about to be polite. He gave Mao Xin and the other two a look, and they moved them directly onto the helicopter, not leaving a single crystal core for Ji Yan and his group.
Only after they finished moving did he elegantly take out a bag of crystal cores to help the teammates advance. To him, it was just a matter of lifting a hand, and he had gained one hundred thousand crystal cores for nothing. It was enough to make him smile for a lifetime.
