187: Transform into a little zombie
But after only three seconds, the Little Zombie returned; those short little legs moved so fast he was practically the legendary Fleetfoot.
"How strange." Si Nan kept her eyes on the Little Zombie, watching him alternate his short little legs and stiffen his neck as he ran back with a "deng deng deng" sound.
With a "paji," he hugged Luo Sen's leg, looked up, and continued to call out persistently, "Daddy."
"Sigh~" Luo Sen frowned and rubbed his forehead.
Si Nan burst out laughing. "If you ask me, you should just keep him. How great is that? You got a son for free."
Luo Sen's face darkened. "Oh? Does Nan Nan want to be lazy and not have children? You wish. I'll deal with you once we get back."
Undeterred by the threat, Si Nan pointed at the Little Zombie and said, "Deal with him first."
Her little face was full of triumph.
"Haha~" Luo Sen laughed heartily.
However, as soon as he looked down, his smile vanished. The "pendant" on his leg was still calling him "Daddy," and even spread its little wings, wanting a hug.
Luo Sen remembered what his mother had said. She once mentioned that humans might be rewritten, just like him. Certain infected individuals who were bitten wouldn't turn into zombies, or wouldn't fully turn, due to various physiological reasons.
Instead, a stronger class of humans would be born, known as Half-Infected, who were also Ability Users. The accompanying Supernatural Ability was a dividend that the zombie virus brought to a few individuals. From then on, humanity might usher in an era of rising supernatural powers—a brand new era.
However, the situation after infection varied. Someone like Luo Sen was the luckiest of the unlucky, a favorite of Heaven, filtering out all the negative factors of zombies and leaving only the strength most beneficial to him.
Moreover, it allowed him to remain fundamentally human. The Little Zombie before him was different; he categorized Luo Sen as one of his own, and instead of attacking, he was very affectionate.
Toward Si Nan, it was completely different; he still saw her as food. Luo Sen couldn't keep him around.
He immediately tried to call his mother, but the call wouldn't go through. Researchers were high-level personnel handling classified information, and their laboratories usually blocked all outside signals. Left with no choice, he left a message for his mother, explaining the Little Zombie's situation.
It might be of even greater help to her research, because this little fellow possessed the bloodthirstiness of a zombie.
Si Nan worried, "What should we do with him?"
"I'll try." Luo Sen crouched down and tried to communicate with the Little Zombie. He first pointed at Si Nan and said, "Her, you are not allowed to attack. You aren't allowed to attack anyone else either. If you're hungry, you can find me, and I'll give you meat to eat. Understand?"
The Little Zombie looked at Luo Sen, then stiffly turned his neck to look at Si Nan, before calling out again, "Daddy."
For Si Nan's sake, Luo Sen patiently taught him several more times. The Little Zombie finally seemed to get the gist. "Find Daddy—eat meat. Don't find—Mommy."
Si Nan: "Stop. I wouldn't dare have a son like you."
"Mommy—doesn't want An An anymore." The Little Zombie pointed at Si Nan, his speech becoming increasingly fluent.
This shocked Luo Sen greatly. "Nan Nan, he's evolving too fast. I don't know what he went through before, or what he ate, or if it's his own physical makeup, but this little fellow will definitely become stronger and stronger."
Si Nan was also stunned. Suddenly, she thought of something and said excitedly, "Since both of you are special cases, why don't you try to change him? Maybe there will be other effects."
Honestly, if he didn't have that bloodthirstiness and wouldn't attack people, I'd really want to keep him around. With him, Yunshu Mountain Villa would be a bit safer."
Reminded by her, Luo Sen acted immediately. He used a Military Knife to cut his palm and dripped his blood into the Little Zombie's mouth. Soon, the Little Zombie reacted; his body curled into a ball from the pain, and he piteously reached out for Luo Sen to hold him.
He rolled around on the ground with his hands outstretched. Luo Sen didn't dare let Si Nan get close, unsure of what the outcome would be for The little fellow. He stood in front of Si Nan, offering a single finger for the little guy to grasp.
"Daddy—Daddy, An An hurts. It hurts so much."
This was the second time the little guy called himself An An. Si Nan asked him, "What's your surname?"
The little guy answered stubbornly, "An An."
Luo Sen's cold, grayish-blue eyes swept over the surrounding zombies that wanted to approach, and he roared in anger: "Get lost!"
"Ow ow~" Those zombies let out a shriek and retreated far away, but they didn't leave; they couldn't "bear" to give up on a piece of meat like Si Nan.
The Little Zombie was still rolling on the ground, his mouth letting out wretched "ow ow" cries that made Si Nan's head feel like it was about to explode. The little guy had too much power, and his voice was too shrill.
She thought for a moment, then took out a plate of steaming hot Coke Chicken Wings and handed it to Luo Sen.
Luo Sen took it and placed it next to the little guy's head. Perhaps he was starving, because the little guy immediately stopped screaming, grabbed a handful of wings, and stuffed them into his mouth, eating the meat and bones together.
"Crunch, crunch," came the crisp sound of bones being chewed. He ate with such gusto.
"It works." Si Nan felt like she had discovered a new world.
Luo Sen took the opportunity to lift the little guy's cotton jacket to check his body. To his relief, the little guy's body was still intact, with no bite marks at all.
He concluded, "Just like me, his wounds healed themselves when he turned into a zombie."
Si Nan thought of another question. "Will this little fellow be stronger than you?"
No matter how small, he was still a zombie. Who knew what the little guy would become once he merged with Luo Sen's blood?
Or what kind of power he would awaken? Luo Sen's blood was very special; it contained power within itself.
If the little guy finished merging and became something neither human nor zombie, possessing a powerful evil force, then she and Luo Sen would be the culprits, sinners for all eternity. The little guy absolutely could not be kept!
Not to mention he would evolve rapidly later. The answer was about to be revealed.
To the naked eye, the little guy's eyes gradually changed from a slightly white, cloudy color to clear. His pupils deepened from the previous white-gray-blue to the same grayish-blue as Luo Sen's.
Other than the ongoing muscle spasms, there was no change in his physical appearance. Si Nan kept her eyes fixed on the little guy.
"Quick, get back!" Suddenly, Luo Sen pulled Si Nan into a bear hug and flew upward with all his might. Just as their toes left the ground, the little guy below let out an "ah!" of agony, and an invisible force rippled outward.
The little guy's body also flew up from the ground, floating in the air before falling back down with a "paji." He seemed to wake up from a state of chaos, looking at his own small hands in terror and fear. "Ahhh, I'm leaking, I'm leaking! I'm leaking air!"
When he saw Si Nan and Luo Sen landing, he suddenly turned into a shadow and crashed into Luo Sen's arms, crying, "Daddy, this is bad! An An is leaking air! Am I going to die?"
Luo Sen: "..."
He pointed at the little guy's fuzzy crown and said helplessly to Si Nan, "The transformation was successful. However, it seems his intelligence hasn't changed much. Fortunately, his memories are still there. Judging by the power he just released, he isn't as strong as I am."
After their feet touched the ground, Si Nan broke free from Luo Sen's embrace. Looking at the little guy hanging off Luo Sen's shoulder like a little koala, her heart felt complicated. "It sounds like his intelligence really hasn't changed much, and his memories are still there. But he's just a three or four-year-old Child, ignorant and naive."
"Calm him down first. We need to determine the other most important factors as soon as possible."
