92: This kind of idiot should starve to death.
Si Nan understood immediately. Someone living nearby must have noticed her and set their sights on her armored vehicle. After all, she hadn't gone anywhere else all morning, searching for supplies in this one area, which gave these people an opening.
These people then used the Zombie Dogs to block her and Luo Sen, intending to kill them so they could smoothly seize her armored vehicle.
"Roar~" Luo Sen was already enraged. After a furious roar, he suddenly smashed through the glass door, grabbed the lead Zombie Dog by the neck, and tore it apart with his bare hands, finishing it off.
Then, he pulled out the military shovel Si Nan had prepared for him. With a single swing, he took out several dogs. In just a few minutes, dozens of Zombie Dogs were completely wiped out by him. Having rushed out, he suddenly circled back, grabbed Si Nan's hand, and used a roadside tree to leap into the air with her.
They quickly caught up with that group. Luo Sen stuffed Si Nan into the armored vehicle and then severed the rope connecting the two vehicles with one shovel strike, allowing Si Nan to regain control of the armored vehicle.
Luo Sen single-handedly intercepted the makeshift armored vehicle. The group didn't realize Luo Sen was a zombie and thought he was still human, so they accelerated to full power to ram him. "Is living not good enough for you? I'll crush you to pieces."
Luo Sen, standing in front of their vehicle, neither moved nor dodged.
Si Nan grew anxious. "Luo Sen, get out of the way!"
But Luo Sen acted as if he hadn't heard. Just as the front of the car was about to hit him, he suddenly leaped onto the roof. With a loud 'bang,' his military shovel smashed against the windshield, causing the glass to shatter instantly.
"Ah—!" Screams erupted from inside the car as the flying glass shards obscured the occupants' vision. Luo Sen took the opportunity to kill the driver with a shovel strike. The vehicle lost control and hit a utility pole with a massive 'bang.'
"Boom—!" It exploded.
Luo Sen had already landed on the roof of Si Nan's armored vehicle. Si Nan opened the sunroof to let him in. "Quick, tell me, are you hurt?"
The explosion just now was no small matter; she didn't know if this guy had been caught in the blast.
"Sister, Sen Sen's back hurts." Luo Sen turned around to show her. The clothes on his back were completely shredded, essentially becoming a backless outfit. Fortunately, his back was only scorched red and the skin wasn't broken.
"It's okay, it's okay. Sister will take care of it for you and you'll be fine." Si Nan quickly stopped the car, pulled out a pack of baby wipes to clean his back, while secretly admiring Luo Sen.
This guy was too tough. Such a powerful explosion hadn't caused him any substantial damage. Impressive. After cleaning him up, she couldn't help but touch him a few more times. The skin felt—excellent!
The new clothes she had just collected came in handy. Si Nan picked out a size suitable for Luo Sen and had him change before starting the armored vehicle to continue searching for supplies.
She had cleared two consecutive streets, so there was nothing left to find in this area. She drove slowly, observing the storefronts on both sides of the main road.
Not having returned here for ten years, everything felt foreign to her.
Further ahead were schools and kindergartens. They were quiet, with gates tightly shut. Since it was already vacation time when the incident occurred, there was no one inside; she glanced in and saw that there weren't even any zombies.
Suddenly, she spotted a large gas station. "This is good."
She quickly turned in. Half of the station was covered in white snow, but the general layout was still visible. Zombies in uniforms wandered around, even inside the office and convenience store; they were undoubtedly the staff who worked here.
"Sister, wait for Sen Sen, okay?" Luo Sen was very proactive, having already learned to act as the vanguard. He got out of the car to drive away the zombies, creating a safe search environment for Si Nan.
He followed closely behind Si Nan the entire time, asking her if she wanted this or that. Although he sometimes picked up junk, there was one thing she couldn't match him in: Luo Sen's ability to find storage rooms.
For instance, right now, the convenience store was empty, but he found a long, small warehouse in an inconspicuous corner behind it. It was filled with bags of braised snacks. He loved them. "Sen Sen wants to eat."
"Then eat." Si Nan dotingly handed him a crate, and the guy started eating right next to her. He had a strong craving for meat.
As Si Nan collected items and he ate, there was a strange sense of harmony.
However, these weren't what Si Nan wanted most. She wanted fuel—whether it was diesel or gasoline, she wanted it all.
She went back to check the fuel dispensers, but the oil inside had long since been drained. It looked like the work of someone familiar with the place, as the dispensers were intact with no signs of being pried open.
With a 'might as well try' attitude, she and Luo Sen searched the underground storage. The fuel there was gone too, leaving only a few empty waste oil drums and tire tracks on the ground.
"Let's go, there's nothing left here." Si Nan turned to get into the armored vehicle when someone suddenly called out to her from the second floor next door.
"Beautiful lady, please take me with you. As long as you give me three meals a day, I'll work for you."
"No need." Si Nan didn't even look up at the man. This kind of idiot was better off starving to death; he didn't sound like a good person at all.
Seeing that Si Nan ignored him and walked straight to the armored vehicle, the man upstairs started cursing. "Giving you face and you don't want it! Leaving someone to die makes you worse than a pig or a dog. I curse you to a miserable death—ah!"
Si Nan shot him directly, helping him escape his misery. Just because she ignored him didn't mean she would let others insult her freely.
Luo Sen looked up at Si Nan and the gun in her hand with a dazed expression. "This is so powerful. Sen Sen wants one too, to hit bad people."
How could Si Nan dare give it to him? What if he shot her or himself by accident? "Sister can't give this to you. It's too dangerous. You're fine using that.
Look, Sister likes using this too. One shovel strike and—crack—another one is dead."
She swung the military shovel to change the subject.
Luo Sen didn't seem to have much of an objection and clapped in approval. "Mm-hmm, I'll listen to Sister."
Si Nan checked the time. It was still early, so she went a bit further. With Luo Sen around, zombies couldn't hurt her, so she had nothing to worry about except for survivors and Zombie Beasts.
Snow fell in a light drizzle. Si Nan kept her eyes and ears open, watching everything around her. Even inside the armored vehicle, she didn't take off her helmet.
The world outside was not quiet. Zombies were everywhere, and desperate human screams rang out from time to time. The zombie attacks never ceased.
Zombies followed behind her car as it moved, but they would be scared away once Luo Sen stepped out.
So she ignored them and let them follow. At that moment, she noticed an evergreen tree by the roadside. At first glance, it looked no different, but having experienced the Apocalypse once before, she suddenly realized that this evergreen tree had already mutated.
