90: Lawson is a huge bug.
Si Nan truly felt like she was watching a real-life version of X-Men, just without the claws. Seeing it with her own eyes, she still found it hard to believe.
Looking at the zombies again, not a single one dared to approach. Although these zombies didn't have much intelligence now, the basic human instinct of fear still remained, and they retreated to the side of the road one after another.
Luo Sen had already returned to the car and sat obediently in the passenger seat.
Si Nan asked him, "Can you fly?"
Luo Sen nodded. "Yes, yes!"
"..."
This is a freaking huge bug!
Si Nan held her breath and asked him again, "Then why did you insist on me opening the door yesterday instead of just flying directly into my large courtyard?"
Luo Sen answered her directly, "Mom said flying inside would scare you, Sister. She told me I should only use it in front of those ugly bad people outside."
"Alright, I understand. Your mother really thought of everything." Si Nan looked away and focused on driving.
Sure enough, the rest of the journey was smooth until they reached a nearby supermarket she had visited before. Luo Sen got out of the car first, flying out again. Standing on the roof of the car and looking down at the crowd of zombies, he scared them away with a single roar.
Si Nan only got out of the car after confirming it was safe. When she walked into the supermarket, it was a mess inside. The white snow had drifted in through the broken doors and windows, burying many items.
There were inevitably many wandering zombies inside. Luo Sen was very perceptive; he seemed to loathe these zombies and wanted to tear them apart whenever he saw them. It was Si Nan who called him back; tearing apart one or two was useless and she might get surrounded by other bolder zombies. For safety's sake, it was better to have Luo Sen stay close by her side.
The food had been looted clean, leaving only inedible items and some junk food scattered on the floor. She didn't mind and took out the large bags she had prepared in advance to collect them one by one.
As for the neatly arranged pots, pans, and stationery, she took them all. It would be a waste to leave them there, so she simply put them into her Space along with the display cabinets. "Just in case they're useful later."
Soon, the entire supermarket was empty, leaving only the hollow display shelves.
"Sister, come quickly! There's more delicious food here." Luo Sen suddenly called to her from above; the fellow had actually climbed up there.
She was suddenly delighted. "That's right! Every part of a supermarket could be a warehouse, and there might be a mezzanine above." She looked around but couldn't find a ladder. Since she couldn't fly, she could only ask Luo Sen to show her what was inside.
"Sen Sen will carry you up." Luo Sen suddenly came down and then went up again just as quickly.
Si Nan felt like she was on a plane; she only felt it was real when her feet touched the ground. She leaned over to look down—she really was up there.
Luo Sen forcibly turned her body to make her look. The place was filled with: "Instant noodles?"
They were neatly and densely packed. Besides instant noodles, there were also light supplies like Self-heating Meals, rolls of paper, tissues, and sanitary pads. No wonder no one had scavenged them; without a tall ladder, it was impossible to get up here.
Luo Sen had already picked up a large stack of instant noodle boxes. "Wait, Sister. Sen Sen will move them."
"Hahaha, no need to move them. How about Sister shows you a magic trick?" Si Nan took Luo Sen's hand and signaled him to put the noodles down.
"Then Sister, hurry and do it." Luo Sen let go, and several boxes of instant noodles crashed to the floor.
Si Nan didn't do it immediately. Instead, she told him, "But you have to promise Sister not to tell anyone about this. This is our secret. Otherwise, Sister won't do the magic trick."
"Mhm, mhm! Sen Sen swears he won't tell anyone, not even Mom." Luo Sen raised his hand and made a mock oath.
Si Nan was just teasing him. Even if he told someone, no one would believe him; she just didn't want to cause trouble. She reached out her right hand. "Then watch closely."
Her hand passed over the boxes of instant noodles, and they vanished.
"Wow, Sister is amazing! Sen Sen wants to see more magic. Make all of these disappear." Luo Sen pointed happily at the items filling the warehouse.
"Alright, alright, as you wish. Abracadabra!" She played along with the incantation, and in the blink of an eye, all the items in the mezzanine were stored in her Space.
Afterward, she led Luo Sen to the back of the supermarket to collect other things. Many items were covered by the white snow, making it impossible to tell what they were, but cars were definitely there.
Once she could no longer find anything good, she took Luo Sen back to the car and headed to the next location. Passing a Pharmacy on the way, she quickly got out; one could never have too much medicine.
"What a pity, all the Western medicine is gone. Only some Traditional Chinese Medicine is left in the cabinets." Si Nan opened the cabinets one by one, all filled with herbal medicine.
It was better than nothing, so of course she wanted it. She nudged a cabinet and found it was freestanding, so she took it directly into her Space.
Luo Sen was crouching down, doing who knows what. This time, she found the medicine storage warehouse first, but it was empty with the door wide open, having been looted long ago.
She walked up behind Luo Sen. "What are you looking at?"
"A little sister." Luo Sen moved aside to reveal a little girl of about five years old. She was a complete little zombie, but upon seeing Si Nan approach, she immediately jumped up to bite.
"You're not allowed to hurt Sister!" Luo Sen swung his hand with lightning speed. His strength was so great that he sent the little girl flying out of the Pharmacy with a single slap.
Si Nan didn't even see the little girl land; she just kept flying.
She felt a bit of lingering fear. If she were ever slapped by Luo Sen, wouldn't she die instantly? It seemed that for the sake of her life and this great resource who could block thousands of zombies, she should treat him a little better.
Starting with praise, the shameless young woman immediately took out a carton of milk and handed it to Luo Sen. "Mhm, Sen Sen did a great job protecting Sister just now. This is your reward."
"Wow, milk! Sen Sen likes it." Luo Sen took it and finished it with another slurp. His mouth was like a high-powered straw.
Si Nan's lips twitched. She brushed aside the trash on the floor and picked up a few boxes of Western medicine. Standing at the entrance of the Pharmacy, she scanned the shops on both sides. Most were food-related, but their doors were wide open and they were completely empty.
Just as she was about to look away, she suddenly saw a large Hardware Store at the end. "Let's go over and take a look."
"Mhm, Sister, hold hands." Luo Sen took Si Nan's hand proactively, looking just like a couple in love.
Even through the thick gloves, Si Nan could feel the warmth of Luo Sen's palm. It was hot and cozy. She looked up at Luo Sen's face; he really was handsome. He was focused on waving his hand to drive away the surrounding zombies—even more handsome!
Feeling her intense gaze, Luo Sen suddenly turned his head and looked at Si Nan with a grin. Like a flash of lightning, he planted a mwah on Si Nan's cheek through her transparent helmet.
