53: Just a bunch of rabble.

Gu Jie tried to reason with everyone. "Fellow Property Owners, before you act, why don't you check the Property Owner Group first? It wasn't our security guards who started the fight. It was the people who went out to find food; they came back infected with the virus and turned into zombies."

"Think about it. If our security guards hadn't gone out and killed those three Property Owners who turned into zombies, our community would have fallen by now. All of you would have been attacked and would never be able to leave your homes again."

Someone didn't believe him. "Impossible! When I went over there, I clearly saw your security guards killing Property Owners, and the ones being killed weren't infected at all."

Others opened the Property Owner Group to watch the videos inside. "What he said is true. It was indeed the Property Owners who returned from outside who were infected. This can be proven by the three corpses on the ground; their complexions and skin have discolored. Moreover, it was we Property Owners who made the first move."

This person immediately became the public enemy of all the Property Owners. "Are you in league with those dogs inside? Get the hell out of here!"

"You—?" Seeing the situation, that Property Owner left in a fit of pique. If he didn't leave, he'd probably die too; they were all seeing red.

"Dogs?" Inside, when Gu Jie heard that word, his eyes narrowed sharply. His hands, hidden behind his back, suddenly clenched into fists as killing intent spilled uncontrollably from his body.

He hadn't killed anyone in many years; it seemed he would have to make an exception today.

He looked at the Property Owner who was leading the talk. His tone was no longer one of gentle persuasion like before, but had turned into a threat: "Fellow Property Owners, I advise you all to behave yourselves. Once you start something today, we won't care if any more zombies come in."

"Hmph, you alone can't do anything to us." The leader also became arrogant.

"With this!" Gu Jie suddenly pulled out a gun and aimed it at the leading Property Owner outside the door, his eyes filled with murderous intent.

"A gun? Oh no, run!" Many Property Owners ran away as soon as they saw the gun, though a few brave ones stood further away to watch the show.

Only the few leaders remained, totaling no more than ten people. This man was the boss of the Unit A Villa Area, effectively rallying all the Property Owners of Unit A.

He put in the effort to protect the Unit A Property Owners, and the payment was a portion of food from every household.

So, on the third day of the virus outbreak, this man, who was supposed to starve to death, suddenly had a bed full of food. He kept his word; any troublemakers who went to Unit A to kill or loot were driven away by him.

His prestige in Unit A was very high now; all those Property Owners who just ran away were his people. Of course, the reason he took the lead in coming to trouble the Property Management was certainly not for justice, but for supplies.

Without any hesitation, the man used the iron rod in his hand to point at Gu Jie inside the gate, aligning it with the muzzle of Gu Jie's gun. "If you have the guts, shoot me dead. But I bet you won't pull the trigger."

It was a double entendre!

First, he was betting that Gu Jie's gun wasn't real. Second, he was betting that Gu Jie wouldn't dare to fire.

Because standing behind him were all the Property Owners of Unit A. Once he was killed, all the Unit A Property Owners would fight Gu Jie to the death.

Everyone in Unit A knew that if he died, no one would protect them anymore, and they would soon be killed by people from other units.

Just last night, people had already started sweeping the buildings. In just one night, everyone in two unit buildings had died. Blood flowed from the top floor to the bottom; the scene was bloody and unbearable to watch.

As part of the security office, it was impossible for Gu Jie not to know, yet they still hadn't made a move. They had long since abandoned their duties and wanted to look out only for themselves.

But could Gu Jie really look out for himself?

However, Gu Jie was also a tough nut. He pulled the trigger with a "bang." The bullet passed through the top frame of the stainless steel gate, grazing the man's cheek, and "boom," it exploded a tree trunk behind the man.

With a "crash," the tree, thicker than a bowl's mouth, fell over.

The man touched his grazed, burning cheek. His eyes were wide with anger and disbelief as he looked at Gu Jie. Terror filled his heart, and it took a long time before he could squeeze out a harsh word: "You're ruthless. We'll see about this."

He decisively led his people away.

At this time, Si Nan had just reached the door of her house when she was instantly surrounded. "You're finally back. If you're smart, open the courtyard gate and bring out all the food, or else we'll take your life right here."

"With just you?" Si Nan wanted to laugh. A big, burly woman had brought a bunch of scrawny, pathetic women to her door to threaten her.

The woman was very arrogant. The fat on her face shook as she weighed the blood-stained axe in her hand. Pointing at Si Nan's house, she said, "With just me! Without the protection of that turtle shell of yours, you can't escape our palms alone."

"Sisters, block her courtyard gate tightly. Don't give this black-hearted, poisonous little bitch a chance to hide in her turtle shell. As long as we slaughter her, the food inside will be ours."

"Think about the delicacies she live-streamed; we'll be able to eat them soon. Sisters, put your strength into it and finish her off!"

"Good! Kill her, and our children will be able to eat meat!" All the women rushed forward.

"Hahaha, naive." Si Nan burst out laughing. All the food was in her space; even if they took her house, they wouldn't find anything.

But since these women dared to lie in wait at her house and intercept her to kill her, she would use their heads today to warn the other surviving Property Owners in the community, so they would never dare to plot against her, Si Nan, again!

"Just a rabble."

Suddenly, the stationary Si Nan charged toward the big, burly lead woman. Her voice was as cold as frozen ice and crushed snow. "I'll let you taste what it's like to be disemboweled. Shink!"

Following the crisp sound of a shovel slicing through flesh, a long gash was cut from bottom to top through the big woman's abdomen and her cotton coat by the sharp military shovel. Fresh blood sprayed out, splashing onto another woman's face.

"You...? I—regret... Thud!" The woman clutched her stomach and collapsed to the ground, filled with regret.

Si Nan took the opportunity to sweep her shovel out, decapitating another woman. Then, she increased her speed to the maximum. With one shovel strike after another, she knocked them down one by one. In just ten short seconds, she had carved a blood-soaked path through the outer circle that had been packed tight.

But Si Nan had no intention of opening the courtyard gate to escape back inside. After rushing out, she suddenly doubled back, her combat power exploding. She went into full martial mode, her two military shovels flying up, down, left, and right. her figure moved among the women like a nimble snake; everywhere she passed was a bloody mess, and corpses littered the ground around her.

Strangely, even though she had killed so many, no one retreated. Why was that?

Just as Si Nan was puzzled, the group of men who had been surrounding the security office suddenly appeared behind the women. The leading man burst into happy laughter the moment he saw Si Nan.
