143: Oh, so they just killed one slut in the middle.
At that moment, Yellow Hair suddenly began pounding on the door.
No one dared to open the door on their own; they all looked toward Si Nan and Luo Sen in unison.
However, Si Nan and Luo Sen ignored everyone's gaze, acting all lovey-dovey as they discussed whether or not they wanted the cash in the drawer.
Everyone: "—"
Hey, hey, hey, the guy outside is about to die! Say something, will you? Are we opening the door or not?
"Ah—help—don't let that disgusting dead dog bite me—I'll kill you all—ah—" After that, there was no more sound. A pair of bloody hands slowly slid down the glass door. Yellow Hair's final use was being dragged away by the dogs for a full meal.
Si Nan, who seemed intent on annoying people to death, suddenly said in surprise, "Oh, Sen Sen, did you hear that? It sounded like someone was calling for help just now. Is something wrong with my ears? But there's no one outside the door."
Everyone: "—"
Big sister, the person is dead, and the body's been dragged away by the dogs. Of course you can't see anyone! You're only just realizing it now? Look, the blood is still there.
But no one dared to make a sound.
Luo Sen, the wife-doting demon, spoke up in a good mood, "No, I didn't hear anything either. Nan Nan, don't talk nonsense; there's definitely nothing wrong with your ears. Whoever heard something is the one with the ear problem."
"—"
Everyone broke into a cold sweat: Meaning we're the ones with the problem!
You two, that's enough! We're still alive here. If you keep showing off your affection, we won't even have to wait for the zombies outside to break in and bite us; we'll be sickened to death by your sweetness first.
"Open the door, open the door quickly, help!" At this moment, someone else pounded on the door.
Si Nan saw that this time it was a mother and daughter, so she intentionally said, "Oh, someone really is calling for help. Open the door quickly."
"Oh, right!" The survivors in the room finally snapped out of it and hurried to open the door.
"Don't stay to fight, get inside and hide!" The Captain and his team had also retreated. They protected eight people as they quickly backed toward the entrance. In front of them were several Zombie Beasts, including mutated cats; the cats that had turned into zombies were now as large as dogs.
Black drool dripped from the corners of their mouths. They moved their mangled bodies with agility, using the trash cans on the sidewalk to spring up and pounce at the Captain and his men.
Rat-tat-tat—
After another burst of gunfire, the Captain and everyone finally retreated safely into the building. The blackout curtains were quickly pulled down to block the Zombie Beasts' line of sight, and all the tables were moved to barricade the doors and windows.
The Captain looked around at his subordinates, feeling extremely grieved. Two more were gone. Twelve of them had come out together, and now only four remained, and it hadn't even been a week yet... Looking at the other group of survivors provided at least a little comfort. He nodded to Si Nan and Luo Sen. "You two, thanks."
"You're welcome, we didn't do much," Si Nan said with a smile. She was actually telling the truth; from the fallen building to this one, well, she had just killed one bitch in between.
The Captain saw the blood in the room but didn't see a body. He assumed someone was injured, but even if they were, there was nothing he could do. The medical supplies they carried were exhausted; even his own men had nothing left to use.
He didn't ask who was injured, so naturally, he didn't know about Si Nan's killing, and the others weren't stupid enough to run their mouths.
The other three in camouflage were in low spirits. "Captain, our ammunition is running low. If another wave like that comes, we won't last five minutes."
The Captain frowned and immediately ordered, "Then distribute the ammunition evenly, get your military knives ready, and give it your all."
The survivors' hearts went cold when they heard this.
"Yes, sir." The three quickly gathered all their ammunition and split it among themselves.
The Captain kept only three bullets, giving the rest to his three subordinates. He pulled out his only Military Knife and placed it in the most accessible position, ready.
"Captain, at least fill your magazine, or else we don't want any either." The three subordinates were very loyal and insisted on taking the Captain's pistol to fill it with bullets.
Sigh. Seeing them like this, Si Nan knew they would essentially be fighting the Zombie Beasts bare-handed next. Admiring their courage, and for the sake of her father who had also been a soldier, she tossed two military shovels to the Captain.
"Take these. They're better than military knives. Whether it's zombies or Zombie Beasts, just smash their heads and it's over. Military knives are too short; they're not good against agile animals like Zombie Cats and dogs, and there's a chance the knife will get stuck in the meat and you won't be able to pull it out."
The Captain and the three in camouflage: "—"
How could a young girl know so much about zombie types?
Si Nan knew the four were suspicious, but she shrugged indifferently. "Don't look at me like that. I've just killed a lot of zombies with my Boyfriend, so I have plenty of experience."
"—"
The Captain and his three men could only blink. To them, Si Nan looked like a good girl; they couldn't believe she could kill zombies. Impressive!
The women in the group they rescued only knew how to scream; their ears were nearly deafened by the screaming along the way.
While everyone was chattering about why the helicopter hadn't arrived yet, the Zombie Beasts outside began to attack again. The Captain peered through a crack, his face turning grim. "The situation has worsened. All the nearby zombies have been drawn here too. There are at least fifty in total, but our bullets—"
"Then use fire. Zombies are afraid of fire and won't dare to get close," Si Nan suddenly reminded him. She guessed this Captain was probably being sent out on a rescue mission for the first time and lacked experience.
Luo Sen was a man of few words; he didn't look at the others or speak, only acting when necessary. He was so quiet he almost seemed non-existent; his mind was entirely on Si Nan.
Hearing this, the Captain quickly instructed everyone, "Quick, rip off all the wooden cabinet doors and tables. Light them on fire."
"Quick, quick, quick~" Hearing there was a way to save their lives, everyone jumped into action.
While the doors were being pounded from the outside with "thuds," the tables and chairs were being smashed apart inside with "clangs." The women and children tore up books and paper to start a bonfire to ignite the wooden planks in everyone's hands.
Suddenly, Luo Sen whispered in Si Nan's ear, "The helicopter is here."
The next second, the communication device on the Captain's shoulder rang. "0707, this is K9 coming to pick you up. Please confirm your position one last time."
"07 copies, verifying position now." The Captain left this to his subordinates while he quickly set the wooden planks on fire and distributed them to those capable of fighting. Soon, everyone except for the three children, Si Nan, and Luo Sen held a half-burning wooden plank.
As the roar of the helicopter approached, the Captain and two subordinates opened the door and rushed out. There were too many Zombie Beasts and zombies outside.
Si Nan frowned. For the sake of the three children, she gave Luo Sen a look.
Receiving her message, Luo Sen gave a bitter smile and said, "You're still soft-hearted after all."
With that, he rushed out with his knife. He didn't use his Supernatural Ability, instead relying entirely on his martial arts skills as an ordinary person to hunt the Zombie Beasts, quickly clearing a path for the three children and their families.
The helicopter crew looked at the situation below and didn't dare to land immediately. It wasn't until the Captain, his three subordinates, Luo Sen, and Si Nan formed a circle to protect the survivors that the helicopter descended a bit lower and dropped the cables, letting the survivors climb up one by one.
It started normally, with the remaining dozen or so survivors climbing up in an orderly fashion, until a Zombie Cat suddenly jumped up and tackled the person at the bottom of the climb.
The two young women remaining on the ground waiting to climb went crazy. Fearing the people above were climbing too slowly and that they too would be tackled and bitten by the Zombie Beasts, they grabbed the people above them and pulled them down to climb up themselves.
