210: Post-Rain Crisis

Si Nan smiled and said, "Master, I'm fine. Anyway, the Strong Acid Rain has already fallen. Let's look on the bright side: soon the whole world will know that City A has become a Ruined City, and then no one will try to target Yunshu Mountain Villa, right?

What a great thing! I just thought of it."

Jian Bing: "---"

Is my Apprentice's brain not working? This? A good thing? They're about to starve.

Si Nan knew her Master didn't believe her. She pointed at the rapidly decaying scene outside the window and said, "This is just the beginning. Everything is almost completely corroded. Once the Strong Acid Rain stops, I'll post the surveillance footage online. Who would still want to come to a Ruined City?

So this is a good thing for us! Plus, all the supplies hidden in houses and underground—no outsiders will come to steal them from us anymore. They're all ours."

Jian Bing was speechless. "What you're saying is true, but from now on, we'll be living in a Ruined City where we lack everything."

"No, no. What I've stored so far can't be finished in ten years. We still have everything we need." Si Nan was beaming.

Jian Bing was even more speechless. "What a silly Apprentice."

Luo Sen, who had flown halfway, was suddenly called back because the heightened and reinforced protective walls blocked the Zombies and Zombie Beasts on the ground, but they couldn't stop the flying birds and beasts in the sky. Crows, eagles, vultures, and other Zombie birds gathered by the thousands, forming a terrifying Zombie Bird Army that continuously attacked Barrier City, causing even more severe casualties than before.

Luo Sen had no choice but to return.

He still didn't know about the Strong Acid Rain falling in City A. If he had known, he definitely wouldn't have returned immediately. His trip back lasted three days, and busy hunting aerial Zombie Beasts, he had no time to check his phone.

Si Nan had already guessed that he went to Barrier City. No one was more important to Luo Sen than her, except for Uncle Luo and Auntie, whom he went to save. She also knew that Uncle Ji must have urgently summoned him.

Luo Sen should go. If she had known, she would have gone too. She only blamed herself for sleeping too soundly. She wondered how Barrier City was doing now.

Thinking this, Si Nan looked at the Strong Acid Rain that was about to stop. It had been falling for three days and three nights, leaving a scene of horrific decay outside. Aside from the pitted and corroded buildings, there was no sign of life left.

The entire city had turned into a Ruined City. Everything had melted away, utterly desolate. Nothing green could be seen—only corrupt gray and black colors. It was terrifyingly quiet.

Not even a single bird was in the air. The rain had stopped, and the sky had cleared.

The cameras on the outer perimeter wall were protected, allowing only partial viewing. Song Yuan and Bai Zichuan were bringing Ma Bufan and a few other youths to unpack supplies.

Si Nan watched them through the camera. Soon, the image cleared, and the view widened. There was no longer a single Zombie or Zombie Beast in sight, as if the Apocalypse had never arrived and they had never existed.

The remaining view was the same as what she saw standing by the window, but the vast, boundless scene of decay made her even more horrified and heavy-hearted.

Just as she frowned, watching all this, she suddenly heard faint cheers: "Oh heavens, we can finally come out and move around."

"That's great! Those Walking Dead were finally killed by the Acid Rain. We are free!"

"Why are you all standing around? Hurry up and search for supplies nearby!"

"That's right, that's right! The world is huge, and now I'm the biggest boss! All the good stuff is mine. Whoever doesn't give it to me, I'll kill them. The Apocalypse is wonderful."

These voices were not coming from inside Yunshu Mountain Villa, but from outside—from scattered residents nearby. Besides Yunshu Mountain Villa, there were several other villas in the vicinity.

With the advancement of her Supernatural Ability, Si Nan's hearing was astonishing. She could clearly hear the sounds nearby. If the vicinity was like this, her own Residential Area should be the same.

Suddenly, she asked Gu Jie, "How is the Residential Area? Are there any attacks from outsiders?"

Gu Jie, who was leading people to inspect the entire Residential Area, replied, "No, it's very quiet right now, as if the world has stopped. Inside the Residential Area, aside from the large trees and green plants that were corroded, all the protected Arable Land is completely intact.

We've checked half of it; the other half remains."

Si Nan instructed him, "Be careful. I have a premonition that enemies will come knocking soon. This Strong Acid Rain has turned City A into a Ruined City, but it also brings an unprecedented crisis to those of us who survived.

Because the Zombies and Zombie Beasts outside have been cleared out, all the survivors are coming out to loot and plunder like caged beasts. Tell everyone to be vigilant. Residential Area 24 must intensify patrols, especially at the four main entrances."

"Understood, I'll deploy immediately." Gu Jie's face paled from her warning. He immediately discussed and arranged the deployment with The Three Building Owners.

No sooner had he spoken than Gu Jie finished calling the personnel on duty at the four gates to warn them of an enemy attack, when all four gates were simultaneously hit by fierce attacks using homemade bombs.

"This is bad! Quickly notify everyone and Sister Nan." Gu Jie was the first to sprint toward the North Gate. The North Gate had the weakest defenses, and two youths were on duty there; he was afraid they would panic.

Director Lin and the other two of The Three Building Owners grabbed their phones while running toward the East, West, and South Gates, respectively.

After Si Nan received the call, she rushed back with her Master, Jian Bing. Song Yuan and Ma Bufan wanted to return with her, but she forbade it, as Yunshu Mountain Villa was even less secure.

Firing had already begun at the Residential Area. The four gates were being attacked simultaneously, but so far, no one had managed to breach them. The homemade bombs simply couldn't knock the gates down.

"Try blowing up the wall." The enemy changed their strategy, sending a few people to focus their homemade bombs on the wall next to the gates.

After hearing a series of "boom, boom, boom" massive explosions, the wall was merely blackened but stood firm, infuriating the enemy.

"Bomb it again! If five homemade bombs aren't enough, use ten! If ten aren't enough, use twenty or thirty! I refuse to believe their wall is made of steel."

"Hmph, you can try." Gu Jie stood inside the Guardhouse, watching the enemies outside.

After another round of concentrated bombing, the enemy completely gave up. "Bomb inward! Throw them right next to the gate. I don't believe we can't blast a hole in the ground."

"Well said. Now it's our turn." Seeing that the time was right, Gu Jie signaled to his subordinates behind him.

The two understood, an excited curve forming on their lips. Each took two bombs, opened the Guardhouse door, pulled the pins, and threw them outside the gate.

"Ah, it's a bomb! Run!" One of the enemies saw it and immediately turned tail and ran.

The others hadn't reacted yet, and their leader was still cursing, "Why are you running, kid? Get back here! They're bombing the people inside, not you."

No sooner had he finished speaking than the bomb landed right in front of him. Realizing what was happening, he immediately tried to run. Unfortunately, it was too late; he couldn't outrun the bomb's power.

"Boom!" After a massive explosion, human 'flowers' bloomed on the spot. Half the people were blasted into the air and fell back down in mangled pieces. Not a single person remained whole.
