103: Waste utilization, zombie horde guarding the house

Soon, someone arrived in a low-level assembled car, but upon seeing the dense crowd of zombies surrounding Si Nan's yard, they immediately turned around and fled.

"You idiot, why didn't you mention there were so many zombies around her house?"

"Zombies?" The person reacted sluggishly, verified it through others, and when someone sent a photo of the sea of zombies, he was so terrified he nearly stopped breathing.

"I didn't know; I only saw Si Nan leave in the Armored Vehicle. She even had a helper—a handsome and robust man who's likely her Boyfriend."

"What? She has a robust Boyfriend? Si Nan alone was hard enough to deal with, and now another one has appeared? How unlucky. Keep monitoring and let me know when there's a better opportunity."

"Oh, okay. Yes, sir."

This was the first wave; soon the second wave arrived, just as terrified as the first, and fleeing even faster.

By the third wave, they were literally pissing themselves. "Wh-wh-what's going on? Why are all the zombies in the Residential Area surrounding Si Nan's empty yard? How did she offend so many zombies?"

"That's hard to say. This scene is too grand; could she be using them as waste utilization, letting the zombie horde guard her house?"

"What did you say?"

"I didn't say anything! Ah, run!"

"You idiot, get up and run!"

"Oh, ah! Don't bite me! Help—!"

"Idiot, he deserved to die."

Another wave of the already few survivors perished.

On the road, the Armored Vehicle left two deep ruts as it passed. Strangely, while a horde of zombies chased them at first, they soon stopped, and the zombies ahead even automatically cleared a path for the Armored Vehicle.

Unfortunately, no one was left to see this. The residents on both sides of the main road had all fallen; zombies wandered everywhere, driven mad by the long-term lack of food.

Luo Sen kept his hand out the window to play, yet not a single zombie dared to come up and bite him. He was having a great time playing with the white snow.

Si Nan had prepared drinks and nut snacks for him, making him very happy. "Sister, can we come out to play every day? Sen Sen likes coming out to play, but Mom wouldn't let Sen Sen out. Mom said there are too many bad people outside who would kidnap Sen Sen."

"Your mother was right; there are too many bad people. So, you must promise me not to use your Supernatural Ability casually unless it's a life-or-death situation."

"Especially when outsiders are present, otherwise you'll be exposed. If you're exposed, you'll be taken away—or we'll have to kill everyone who sees you use your Supernatural Ability."

Si Nan struck while the iron was hot to instruct Luo Sen. She was also afraid; fortunately, she had taken Huangfu Qiankun's phone, allowing her to secretly monitor the movements of the Huangfu Family.

Currently, she only knew that the head of the Huangfu Family was not in A City, but she hadn't found out his specific location yet.

As long as he wasn't at the Yunshu Mountain Villa, things would be fine; otherwise, it would be bad, and her killing Huangfu Qiankun would likely be exposed. The Huangfu Family was, after all, the wealthiest in A City with deep pockets; they likely had plenty of life-saving tricks up their sleeves.

From Huangfu Qiankun's family chat logs, she learned that many people in the Huangfu Family had died. Even Huangfu Qiankun's mother was dead; she happened to be out playing mahjong with some wealthy ladies on the day of the outbreak and couldn't make it back, surely turning into a zombie.

Si Nan was excited yet felt a bit lacking in confidence. The only thing was that she had found the complete blueprints for that safe luxury mansion on Huangfu Qiankun's phone, and she fell in love with it at first sight.

As expected of the rich; if it weren't for the zombie virus, that place would be a playground for the world's wealthy, incredibly luxurious and extravagant. It was a real eye-opener for her.

The Armored Vehicle advanced rapidly, its tracks shaking heavy white snow from the trees lining the road. The howling cold wind was merciless, rampaging through everything in sight.

The world was a blur of white. Looking through the gaps of the fluttering snowflakes, only the moving zombies under the pale sky seemed to have any vitality. However, nothing could hide the light of excitement and agitation flickering in Si Nan's eyes; the rampaging cold wind and dancing white snow seemed to be cheering for her.

The corners of Luo Sen's mouth were also slightly upturned. He ate his snacks and looked at Si Nan as if his life were already complete, with nothing else mattering.

Until—thud—two zombies fighting each other fell onto the hood of their vehicle, then rolled off and continued their struggle in front of the car. By this time, they had crossed the bridge, and there were residential buildings on both sides.

"Holy crap, can these two zombies fly?" Si Nan's gaze followed the two fighting zombies as she turned the steering wheel to park the Armored Vehicle by the roadside, just to figure out the situation.

The two zombies were still fighting fiercely. They couldn't fly and didn't have a Supernatural Ability like Luo Sen's, but they could unleash strength to leap. They must have jumped while fighting and landed on her hood.

Luo Sen glanced over indifferently and said, "They can't fly. It's strength unleashed from rage because they are fighting for territory."

Si Nan's eyes widened. "That means their intelligence has evolved."

"Mm-hmm, that's why they're afraid of Sen Sen." Luo Sen suddenly leaned his handsome face in close to Si Nan, almost pressing against her.

"Stop boasting." Si Nan laughed and pushed his face away with her palm, then started the car to continue their journey.

Soon, they passed a decently sized fresh food supermarket, with a bakery and a pharmacy next to it. Si Nan immediately stopped the car and pulled Luo Sen into the pharmacy first.

The shop door was wide open and intact, showing it was still open for business when the virus broke out. About seventy to eighty percent of the medicine inside had been looted; anti-inflammatories, fever reducers, cold medicine, and antibiotics were all gone.

What remained were medications for high blood pressure, topical ointments, traditional Chinese medicine, and supplements for the elderly. She didn't mind and collected them all.

She opened every single cabinet in the store, taking everything she could, including all the medical equipment.

Luo Sen's task was to drive away the zombies and protect Si Nan. When he had nothing to do, he looked for the warehouse and found it every time, though there wasn't much Western medicine; most of it was Chinese medicine that needed brewing.

He was gnawing on a piece of dried ginseng. "Sister, this is fragrant. Do you want a bite?"

Luo Sen handed the half-gnawed ginseng to Si Nan.

"Thanks, you eat it." Si Nan took the ginseng and stuffed it back into Luo Sen's mouth, looking very happy. She wasn't happy about feeding Luo Sen ginseng, but about these medical supplies.

Medicine was the scarcest resource in the Apocalypse. She had a feeling that this trip would definitely yield more medicine and other items; after all, this was the city center, where pharmacies were as common as grains of rice.

There were many shops just along this one road. She didn't dare waste time and picked up the pace; Luo Sen drove away zombies in front while she collected items in the back.

First, she cleared out the flour and other goods from the bakery, then emptied all the miscellaneous items from the fresh food supermarket, and finally the remaining storefronts on both sides of the main road. Only an hour had passed.

As the two turned to walk toward the Armored Vehicle parked at the end of the road, a modified SUV sped past them with a whoosh, towing an Armored Vehicle behind it.
