233: Sweet Post-Apocalyptic Life
Hao Jian was beaten for nothing and was resentful, so he secretly continued to search for Si Nan's address. Finally, he found Li Na's few followers and managed to get Si Nan's exact address from them.
Having regained Hao Jian's trust, he rushed over again overnight.
At this moment, Si Nan, who had emptied three underground supermarkets and just acquired a large batch of supplies the day before, was sleeping soundly. She only woke up when the sun was high. The babies were all reading their favorite books in the study, and Luo Sen had not gone out; he was hanging The Seven Little Ones' clothes on the balcony.
Sunlight shone on him, reflecting a gentle glow. Si Nan walked over and leaned against the glass sliding door, watching him. “Hubby, thank you for your hard work.”
“Wifey, you worked hard too. Good morning.” Luo Sen stretched out his arm to hang up the clothes, then leaned over to kiss Si Nan's forehead. Seeing that Si Nan wasn't wearing slippers, he immediately lifted her up by the waist.
His tone was reproachful yet warm. “You're a grown woman, yet you don't know to wear shoes when you step onto the floor.”
Si Nan replied, “It's just autumn, it doesn't matter.”
“It wouldn't be acceptable even in summer.” Luo Sen said with gentle annoyance, placing her on the edge of the bed, opening the closet, and personally selecting a set of sportswear for Si Nan.
After walking over, he personally helped her change into the clothes and put on her slippers—a full-service treatment.
Si Nan lay lazily on the bed, letting Luo Sen attend to her however he pleased, a smile covering her face. “Thank you, Hubby.”
“Hurry and eat. I'll come join you once I finish hanging the rest of the clothes.” Luo Sen carried her to the dining table, brought over the breakfast, and arranged it, treating her like a three-year-old Child the entire time.
Since the seven Children turned three, they had been self-sufficient, and he never had to manage them, focusing solely on Si Nan's daily life. This habit started when Si Nan was recovering from childbirth after having the seven Children and has never changed since.
Si Nan was already used to his care. Anyway, since she didn't need to go out to work in the Apocalypse, it was nice for her husband to have something to do.
She ate peacefully, unaware that the entire Residential Area was buzzing with excitement, happily moving essential supplies. Since they returned too late last night, they hadn't unloaded the cargo, and the helicopter was still full of goods.
These supplies were enough for everyone in the Residential Area for three months, especially women's necessities. The men were also beaming; they could finally change their underwear.
Since the Apocalypse, they couldn't bear to throw away even ripped underwear, because if they did, they wouldn't have anything to wear. They usually washed them with extra gentle care, more gently than they treated their wives, afraid of tearing them with too much force. Now, everyone had a large box.
Si Nan genuinely didn't know this. How could she know the men had no underwear? Otherwise, she would have distributed fifty pairs to each person long ago. Luo Sen's underwear wasn't prepared by her; Luo Sen chose it himself when he went out to search for supplies.
Gu Jie and the others had gone out to search for supplies many times, so she hadn't thought about this aspect at all.
When Director Lin and the others received the underwear, they were so excited they nearly burst into tears. “We're changing into these as soon as we get back.”
“Hahaha, that's exactly what I thought! I'm going back to change out of that raggedy thing on my butt and throw it away.” Mao Xin laughed along, more excited about getting a box of underwear than if he had fathered a son.
Just as Luo Sen sat down to eat with Si Nan, the ground beneath their feet began to shake, accompanied by the earth-shattering commotion coming from outside the window.
“What's going on?” The two of them ran toward the balcony together.
What they saw filled their eyes with dread: Zombie Fish were running out of the sea not far away. Every single one had evolved into a Demon. Not only were they massive in size, but judging by the ground shaking when they ran, their power had advanced again.
Usually, only one or two would run out of the seawater. “So many suddenly appearing—this is bad, it's a Beast Tide!”
Luo Sen's brows immediately furrowed. “It's autumn now. These Zombie Beasts need to feed heavily to survive the coming winter. I'll go call the Children. Today will be a major battle.”
After Luo Sen finished speaking, he ran downstairs to find the Children.
Si Nan quickly notified Gu Jie and the others: “The Beast Tide is here! Everyone gather immediately and hide in the underground warehouse. Lock the main door. Mao Xin and Zhou Zhi will be responsible for everyone's safety.”
“Gu Jie and Wang Zhan, hurry to the North Gate. Block the Zombie Beasts and buy everyone time to transfer to the underground warehouse.”
“Yes, Sister Nan.”
Si Nan quickly changed her shoes, armed herself, and grabbed her weapons.
After Luo Sen settled the Children, he activated the house's protective layer and closed the Sky Curtain. The entire house was now protected 360 degrees. Afterward, he and Si Nan left the courtyard gate and flew toward the North Gate.
The North Gate was the closest point to the sea and the first place the Beast Tide would attack. In less than five minutes, the Zombie Beasts arrived. They roared and leaped, trying to cross the courtyard wall, but were killed by the mechanisms.
Gu Jie had already activated the mechanisms. He and Wang Zhan were waiting there, killing every one that entered. The top of the courtyard wall was already stained with black blood.
Luo Sen arrived, landing on top of the wall. A powerful force struck the Zombie Beasts attacking outside the courtyard wall. “Scram! This is my territory, or you die!”
The Zombie Beasts suddenly halted. Those that reacted too slowly had their bodies shattered by the force and scattered on the ground.
“Roar—” They had all gained intelligence. Seeing their companions reduced to fragments, they quickly retreated.
However, some did not retreat but advanced instead. After an angry roar, they swung their fish tails, accelerating toward the wall where Luo Sen stood, violently striking the wall with their massive bodies.
“Seeking death!” Luo Sen struck, unleashing six layers of his power. The overwhelming force pressed down on the running Zombie Beasts, instantly crushing them where they stood.
Immediately afterward, the massive bodies exploded one after another. Blood mist permeated the air, and the heavy stench of blood was pungent. None were left, except for those who managed to escape back into the sea.
The whole process took less than a minute.
Gu Jie and Wang Zhan put away their weapons, looking up at Luo Sen's back as if looking at a god.
Si Nan stepped onto the courtyard wall and surveyed the scene. “Fortunately, we acted quickly this time, otherwise, we would have been stuck in a fierce battle, and the outcome might have been different.”
“Let's go. If they came once, they will come a second time. We need to be even more careful and vigilant from now on. These Zombie Fish have become highly refined; they might even sneak in and attack us while we sleep at night.”
Luo Sen took Si Nan's hand and jumped down from the wall. The remaining matters were left to Gu Jie to handle. The black blood needed to be cleaned up quickly, or it would ruin the land within the Residential Area.
Wang Zhan led people to check the entire Residential Area. Only after confirming there was no danger did they let everyone out of the underground warehouse.
Over the past eight years, the underground warehouse had been renovated and was fully stocked. During the day, if there were no unusual circumstances, everyone could move freely within the Residential Area, but they would hide in the underground warehouse if danger arose.
They also rested in the underground warehouse at night, just in case. In the entire Residential Area, aside from Si Nan's house, only this underground warehouse was indestructible.
In these eight years, the population had grown, with over a dozen Children born, seven of whom belonged to the Si Nan family.
Mao Xin wanted to go out and look for a crib since his daughter had just been born. “Sister Nan, I want to go out this afternoon.”
