152: Awakening
Mahākāśyapa was startled, but before Tang Ku could act, the Brick beside him had already recovered. He immediately spotted the bald head that didn't belong to his master and roared, "I only know three phrases..."
Boom boom boom boom... He opened his mouth and countless basketball-sized fireballs spewed out, fiercely rocketing towards Mahākāśyapa.
The monk was startled and his body flickered, appearing twenty meters away as if by teleportation. However, the fireballs followed him like shadows, turning a corner and blasting towards his back.
However, as a Disciple of the Buddha, this fellow still had some real skill. He gently flipped the purple-gold alms bowl in his left hand, and it was already in his right hand, which he used to block behind him.
This purple-gold alms bowl was originally a treasure gifted by Tang King Li Shimin to Tang Sanzang. Along the way, it was primarily used to beg for alms. After Mahākāśyapa extorted it, he refined it into a Magic Treasure, much like Fahai's alms bowl in 'Legend of the White Snake.' It could both absorb the opponent's attacks and some demons and monsters, as well as Magic Treasures. Moreover, it was as light as a feather when held in his hand, but when it struck someone, its weight was comparable to Mount Tai, so he often used it as a weapon.
It could be said that he had elevated the alms bowl to a new level.
The purple-gold alms bowl, like a golden sphere, suddenly expanded behind him. Its bottom was like a purple-gold shield, blocking all of the Brick's attacks.
But immediately after, Tang Ku's figure was already closing in, delivering a punch towards him.
Although Mahākāśyapa's magic power was not weak, he did not understand close-quarters combat. Tang Ku's previous punch had already given him a psychological trauma; when he fell into the rubble, two of his molars flew out, and his cheeks were still throbbing with pain.
However, with his reaction speed, he was well-prepared enough to defend against this attack.
Clang!
Tang Ku's punch landed on a burst of golden light, like an electric spark, scattering golden light everywhere. Upon closer inspection, it was the alms bowl, moving as he wished, blocking in front of him again. What he had dispersed was the Buddhist golden light on the alms bowl used to protect Mahākāśyapa.
"What a powerful Physical Body, it's actually even stronger than the Buddha's..."
Mahākāśyapa retreated with lingering fear, but was blocked again by the Brick from behind, who clawed at his back.
"Get lost..."
Mahākāśyapa raised a hand, and a golden light shot out fiercely towards the Brick. The immense force directly knocked the Brick's massive body flying. It was the same Buddhist bead he had used to ambush Tang Ku earlier.
Although it was only thumb-sized, its impact force was stronger than a regular RPG rocket. Therefore, not to mention Tang Ku, even the Brick would suffer without protection.
"Run, run..."
The Brick was knocked head over heels, a huge lump rising on his head, and he ran around in pain.
Mahākāśyapa, however, was secretly alarmed: "The power of this Buddhist bead is much stronger than this alms bowl. This guy only got a lump after being hit by this move? Is there no justice in this world? How can their Physical Bodies all be so strong?"
Mahākāśyapa was already starting to question life itself. In terms of pure physical strength, he was completely at a disadvantage. In Buddhism, many Arhats and Vajras were powerful and had strong Physical Bodies, but none of them could be this strong.
"Even the strongest of them, the Heavenly King Virūpākṣa and Arhat Jiang Long, don't have such powerful Physical Bodies, do they? How did Tang Sanzang Cultivate? And what exactly is this monster? I've seen all the ancient Divine Beasts, but I've never seen a head this hard!"
He retreated rapidly, and finally even flew up into the sky to escape.
Tang Ku and the Brick, one man and one beast, exchanged glances, then also flew up, rushing towards Mahākāśyapa.
Tang Ku had made up his mind that this punch would be with all his might, a single fatal blow!
"Hmph, do you really take me for a pushover?" Mahākāśyapa said angrily, "Originally, I truly considered taking you in, but now, go and die!"
With that, he suddenly waved his hand, and the charred Gu Mantong corpse on the ground suddenly exploded. Another golden light shot up abruptly, rushing towards Tang Ku from below like lightning.
Tang Ku's speed immediately slowed by more than half due to this interference. He saw the Buddhist bead fly past his body and stop above his head, then a golden light enveloped him. Tang Ku's vision blurred, and he could see nothing.
Not only could he not see, but even his hearing, smell, taste, and even touch were momentarily paused at that instant.
"Hmm, this move is similar to Shi Jingmo's Heavenly Dance Treasure Wheel; both aim to deprive a person of their senses! However..."
Tang Ku thought to himself, "However, this move is a bit stronger than the Heavenly Dance Treasure Wheel, in that it can immobilize a person's body, preventing them from moving!"
In other words, it completely and comprehensively sealed a person's body.
Tang Ku had already recognized the origin of this treasure and couldn't help but exclaim, "As expected of a Magic Treasure bestowed by the Buddha Tathagata! If I could obtain this treasure, the battles ahead would be much easier!"
The Brick had already noticed something was wrong, because Tang Ku was suspended in mid-air, his eyes devoid of spirit, head raised and motionless, as if he had instantly turned into a stone statue.
The Brick was greatly alarmed. He suddenly felt a strong gust of wind from above his head. Looking up, he saw a dazzling light. After a moment of panic, he immediately used his claws to swat Tang Ku away. At this point, it was too late for him to dodge.
Above his head, the mountain-heavy Buddhist bead was embedded in the alms bowl. The two overlapped and smashed down fiercely towards the Brick.
The Brick swatted Tang Ku away and intended to dodge, but suddenly remembered Tang Ku's words: "Do not harm people!" He paused in his heart and looked down to see the huge courtyard of Gao Family Village below.
If he fell to the ground, it was likely that no one in this village would be spared.
Suddenly gritting his teeth, the Brick bit down, then abruptly raised his head, spewing a massive pillar of fire from his mouth, and then fiercely charged upwards towards the sky.
Boom!
A massive force bore down, but the Brick resisted it head-on.
Rumble!
The monster roared, "Get... um... get away!"
Bang!
The alms bowl and the Buddhist bead were actually bounced away by him. Mahākāśyapa above was completely dumbfounded.
And at this moment, just as he thought he was seeing an illusion, a huge shadow suddenly appeared above his head. The terrifying pressure instantly made his heart skip a beat. Although he didn't know what had appeared behind him, he knew he was in for trouble.
The Brick, having overdrawn his strength, suddenly saw a giant nine-toothed... rake?... appear in the sky before he passed out.
