305: The truth about aliens
“We meet again at last!” Darwin chuckled. “Has my good-for-nothing son caused you any trouble?”
Tang Ku subtly shielded Nemo behind him, then sneered, “You've got that wrong. In fact, I'm the one here to cause trouble for him. Don't worry, once I rescue everyone, I'll go deal with your idiot son!”
Darwin waved his hand and smiled. “There's no need. He has already been locked up by me; he won't be coming out to cause you any trouble for a while!”
“Oh? Then what is your purpose for coming here? Just to chat with me?” Tang Ku asked, pretending not to care at all.
Darwin shook his head. “I don't really know how to beat around the bush... Hmm, I came for him...”
He pursed his lips toward Nemo behind Tang Ku and said, “He carries the genes of an Alien. This thing is too dangerous; I cannot allow him to live in this world!”
Nemo's heart tightened. He whispered, “Great God, is he that... that former biologist, Darwin? Why do I feel such a dangerous aura coming from him?”
Tang Ku nodded and immediately said, “It's only right that he feels dangerous. It was his son who captured you all for experiments... Hmm, Professor Darwin, the genes in his body should have already achieved complete Fusion with the Alien. As long as he remains conscious, there shouldn't be any problems!”
Darwin said coldly, “You are too naive. Do you really think Aliens can destroy entire living planets just by relying on their powerful reproductive and evolutionary capabilities? You are wrong, completely wrong...”
He raised a finger and said, “The truly terrifying thing about Aliens is their ability to adapt to the environment... They can survive in any harsh and demanding environment, not because of their bodies themselves, but because of the one soul and one spirit they possess!”
Tang Ku couldn't help but be shocked, then revealed a strange smile. “A prominent biologist like you, why are you playing with that 'soul and spirit' stuff? I have never sensed the existence of a soul or spirit in an Alien. Your statement doesn't hold up!”
“Aliens have souls and spirits, and they are independent and complete. However, they only have two: one soul and one spirit. Their soul and spirit are extremely weak and extremely difficult to detect—they don't even amount to one-tenth of an ordinary human's.”
“But this incompleteness gives this magical creature a unique ability: they can almost fuse with the soul and spirit of any creature. When their tiny soul and spirit attach to the soul and spirit of an ordinary creature in an extremely covert way, they will slowly erode and devour it, eventually occupying the host's soul, spirit, and body... This is the secret to how they can rapidly acquire the other party's power and grow into a complete form within mere seconds!”
Darwin pointed at Nemo and said in a deep voice, “You think the Alien genes in his body have already achieved complete Fusion, and that his own genes have even gained the upper hand, completely devouring the Alien genes and granting him Alien-related abilities.”
“But what you don't know is that while his own soul, spirit, and genetic power are at work, the Alien's soul and spirit are hiding within his own. In other words, as time passes, the Alien's soul and spirit will slowly gnaw away at his, eventually turning him into a Puppet...”
“And the Alien genes themselves are controlled by that one soul and one spirit, so it can completely control this body independently, turning it entirely into an Alien. And when the Alien lacks reproductive capabilities, it can even cause him to evolve into an Alien Queen...”
Tang Ku looked back at Nemo, his face full of surprise. Nemo had a blank expression; although he understood many of Darwin's theories, hearing these words put together made him completely unable to grasp their meaning.
“I've said so much; do you still think I'm just fear-mongering?” Darwin pointed at Nemo and said, “If you take him back to the surface, it is very likely to cause a huge disaster for the people there. Once the Alien's soul and spirit gain the upper hand, the consequences will be unimaginable! Do you understand?”
Tang Ku rubbed his nose. “When it comes down to it, you don't have any substantial evidence to prove all of this, do you?”
Darwin smiled indifferently. “No, but you should know that I have no need to lie!”
Tang Ku said in a deep voice, “If he ever goes berserk, I will suppress him!”
“But you don't have absolute certainty either, do you? Even if there is just the slightest possibility, I cannot allow such a dangerous thing to continue existing!” Darwin said with a cold expression. “Didn't you just ask me the purpose of my coming here? Actually, it's very simple. I am here to completely eradicate the Alien genes, because this thing is not a creature at all, but a monster created by certain Sapiens through genetic intervention. It is a weapon that completely deviates from the original intent of biology, and I absolutely will not allow such a thing to exist in this world—absolutely not!”
Tang Ku frowned slightly. “I thought you would be happy if the Aliens caused trouble for us!”
“Perhaps, but I am a biologist, not a madman!” A cold glint flashed in Darwin's eyes as he said, “This thing deviates from the original intent of biology, so it must die!”
A strong wind erupted, and in an instant, Darwin was right in front of them. That dangerous finger reached out once more, aiming straight for Nemo's forehead.
Darwin's speed was immense; he had arrived before them almost as soon as he finished speaking, his clothes rustling loudly. Tang Ku had already experienced that terrifying finger strike. If it connected, Nemo would definitely end up smashed to pieces, and his soul and spirit might even be obliterated.
And just as Nemo was all but waiting for death, another finger had already met Darwin's finger.
The two right index fingers met and collided in mid-air. Two completely different, terrifying forces instantly erupted and exploded from that point of contact. A powerful shockwave materialized in that instant, shaking the entire ship.
Darwin flew backward and stared blankly at his index finger with a solemn expression, while Tang Ku, on the other side, spat out a mouthful of blood, though his spirit showed no signs of wilting.
“Your growth is truly surprising!” Darwin said, narrowing his eyes. “Among my three finger techniques, this 'Degeneration' style ranks second in power. Yet, in less than half a year, you are actually able to take this move head-on? It seems my choice to nip you in the bud back then would have been the correct one!”
“Heh, thanks for the compliment!” Tang Ku wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth and suddenly smiled. “I can still use the same move a few more times. Do you want to try it?”
Darwin frowned, but then sneered, “It doesn't matter. My business is already done anyway. If you want to spar, I can accompany you anytime!”
Tang Ku couldn't help but be stunned, then instantly realized something. He looked back and saw a bowl-sized hole in Nemo's chest. Blood mixed with green Alien blood was gushing out continuously, emitting wisps of smoke on the ground...
