241: Crafty little fellow
Shu Mountain's natural defenses have always been easy to defend and difficult to attack. The numerous towering peaks, along with the dense clusters of immortal mountains floating in the sky, are among the reasons for this.
Fairy Yunyi, who was completely controlled by Divine Lord Red Corpse, knew these immortal mountains like the back of her hand. She darted and leaped through them, specifically choosing steep and hidden paths, and from time to time, she would trigger various Formations to block the monk pursuing her.
There was no other way; that monk was simply too powerful—powerful enough to make her heart palpitate, to the point where she didn't even dare to harbor thoughts of resistance.
"Even if the Blood Demon were to be completely resurrected, he might not be his match!"
Divine Lord Red Corpse thought to itself as its figure instantly dove into a crevice of an immortal mountain covered in vines, with no buildings in sight. Then, it completely hid its presence, hoping to deceive the monk who was hunting it.
Tang Ku was actually quite frustrated.
Truth be told, given his speed and abilities, catching Divine Lord Red Corpse should have been a piece of cake.
However, every time he was about to catch it, it managed to rely on its familiarity with the environment to dodge him time and time again.
"What a cunning demon..."
Tang Ku pondered for a moment, a flash of light passing through his eyes as he activated the Void Eye. This ability to see through all illusions greatly enhanced his vision, ensuring not even the slightest movement could escape his sight.
There were three floating immortal mountains before him. One was made entirely of stone, the second had two pavilions on it with a total volume of about five or six hundred cubic meters, and only one immortal mountain was covered in vines with palm-sized white flowers blooming on them. This mountain was also two or three times larger than the other two.
Squinting, he noticed a breeze blowing across one corner of the mountain in front of him, which was quite different from the rest of the vines.
"Heh, trying to cover it up only makes it more obvious... The wind is so strong up here that all the vines are rustling, yet yours are only swaying slightly. This is too fake..."
Tang Ku muttered to himself as he moved forward, stopping opposite the large patch of vines. He smiled faintly and said, "If you don't come out now, I'll destroy this entire mountain. Just imagine how pathetic you'll look then!"
As he spoke, Tang Ku made a move as if to throw a punch.
"Sigh, you monk are truly annoying. Do you really think I'm afraid of you?"
A red ribbon of energy cut through the vines and headed straight for Tang Ku's face. Tang Ku suddenly reached out and grabbed the red light. Upon closer inspection, it was actually a petal-like substance, crimson red and with incredibly sharp edges.
Tang Ku sneered dismissively, snapped the thing in two, and then punched toward the cave.
He unleashed the Great Wilderness Divine Fist's 'Earth Restraint', channeling it through the Illusory Void Force. The powerful attack instantly blew the entire immortal mountain apart. Amidst the flying debris, however, there was no sign of Divine Lord Red Corpse.
"Hmm? Escaped?"
Tang Ku frowned slightly, then slapped his forehead and smiled bitterly, "So it was a trap set in advance?"
Turning his head, he saw another immortal mountain covered in vines a few hundred meters away. A shadow suddenly flew up and fled into the distance.
"So that's how it is... Not much real skill, but quite adept at running for your life..."
Tang Ku pursed his lips. "Before, I was concerned about Shu Mountain's reputation and didn't want to cause too much damage. Now it seems I have no choice but to destroy things..."
The upgraded Somersault Cloud instantly unleashed its maximum speed. Tang Ku covered his entire body with the defense of the Xuanwu True Skill and then threw himself toward that immortal mountain...
The advantage of the Somersault Cloud lies in its linear acceleration, but Tang Ku had not caused massive destruction in order to protect the buildings and immortal mountains of Shu Mountain. However, things were different now. That Red Corpse was simply too cunning, having used all kinds of escape techniques, which gradually made Tang Ku lose his patience. Even an old monk with great self-restraint could not tolerate being toyed with repeatedly by the opponent. Therefore, Tang Ku decided not to hold back his power anymore. Once he spotted the target, he would accelerate in a straight line, and along the way, no matter what he encountered, he would just smash through it.
Boom... Boom, boom, boom...
Divine Lord Red Corpse, who was weaving through the immortal mountains, heard the explosions behind it and instinctively turned its head. One look was all it took for its soul to nearly leave its body. It hurriedly accelerated to escape, thinking to itself: "This monk... has he finally smartened up? With such terrifying destructive power, these rocks simply cannot stop him..."
Its thoughts lasted only an instant, but five or six immortal mountains behind it had already been shattered, and it had only managed to dash forward less than a thousand meters. In just two breaths, it felt its neck tighten, and then a large hand grabbed it by the back of the neck, pressing it straight toward a large mountain directly in front of it.
This immortal mountain was different from the others; it was covered in all sorts of discarded Flying Swords—some failed refining attempts, others were broken Magic Treasures from battles. In short, this mountain was a mountain of blades.
Boom!
Tang Ku pushed it, and they crashed entirely into the mountain rock. The immense impact force forcefully carved a passage through the mountain. When they emerged on the other side, Fairy Yunyi's body was covered in bloody wounds, her clothes completely soaked red with blood, and she was nearly on the verge of death.
Divine Lord Red Corpse itself had not suffered any major damage, but its heart was completely filled with terror.
"This monk really wants to kill Fairy Yunyi along with me. Does he... does he not have an ounce of chivalry?"
Divine Lord Red Corpse had its body forcibly twisted around by Tang Ku. Its small head and Fairy Yunyi's face both faced Tang Ku, the small head filled with fear.
Tang Ku gripped its neck with his left hand and grabbed the snake-like part connecting Divine Lord Red Corpse and Fairy Yunyi with his right. He sneered, "Finally caught you, heh... It seems your doom is sealed!"
"Wait... wait, if... if you kill me now, Fairy Yunyi will be beyond saving. Our souls are bound together; if you kill me, she will die too!"
Red Corpse said in terror.
"Is that so?"
Tang Ku laughed, "But so what? This woman has nothing to do with me. Why do you think I would replace that Xuanji Zi to deal with you? Isn't it because he couldn't bear to take action?"
Red Corpse exclaimed in shock, "You... if you promise not to kill me, I will... I will let her go and separate my soul from hers!"
"Hmm, good idea, but I don't trust you!" Tang Ku raised his fist, aiming at its small head, and said, "So, prepare to perish together with her..."
"Don't, I'm serious, I'm really serious. I will keep my promise. You know, we of the Yao Race are even more trustworthy than humans. As long as I promise you, I will definitely... uh..."
Suddenly, Red Corpse's head jerked toward the west, and it said in terror, "Ho... how can this be... Blood Demon Ding Yin has returned. He... has he recovered his memories?"
Tang Ku couldn't help but look in the direction it was gazing. In his eyes, black and red Qi seemed to be rolling like thick fog in that direction. He couldn't help but frown slightly and say, "Such heavy evil energy... I must finish it off and head back quickly..."
As he spoke, he withdrew his gaze and turned back to look at Red Corpse, but unexpectedly, he suddenly saw two rays of red light, like awls, piercing into his pupils...
