604: Chance

Prajna is the ultimate wisdom; with this ultimate wisdom, one can point directly to the heart, see the obsessions deep within a person's soul, and shatter them. This is the ultimate power of the Prajna Wisdom Sword!

In other words, this is a method of attack directed straight at the spirit, and the practitioner must possess extremely powerful Mental Energy.

Unfortunately for his opponent, Tang Ku had practiced Buddha Dharma for many years, and his Mental Energy had long been tempered to be incredibly resilient. In the instant the opponent attacked, he had already transformed his own Mental Energy into a sharp sword, thrusting directly at Darwin's heart.

Wherever wisdom reaches, all obsessions have nowhere to hide. Tang Ku finally discovered that Darwin's original intentions were not as simple as they seemed.

As a biologist, he was now capable of creating different types of living beings, and could be said to be nearly a Saint.

But he was not content. He hoped to use his knowledge to create stronger warriors, or rather, to create the most powerful creature in the entire Universe, surpassing these scientists, surpassing those cultivators, even surpassing that Master, surpassing the Saints, and becoming the most perfect creature in the Universe!

This was the truest obsession deep within Darwin's heart!

All his ways of acting, everything he did, were for the sake of this one thought. Everything was driven by this obsession!

For this, he spared no cost. He obeyed the Master's orders to go to the Great Tang to find that destined person, and to try every possible way to cause trouble for this person... Although he did not know the purpose behind the Master's orders, it coincidentally aligned with his own desires.

The entire Great Tang became his testing ground. Whether it was the dream experiment or the plan to seize the imperial jade seal, everything was within his calculations. His ultimate goal was to seize the Luck of the Great Tang, and using this as a foundation, increase the success rate of his experiments to the extreme.

The dream experiment was a capability to convert the illusory into reality. He hoped to use this method to train the strongest biological weapon he had created, in the hope that it would gradually develop the ability to think for itself and possess a certain level of wisdom.

But unfortunately, both plans failed, and his opponent, Tang Sanzang, not only thwarted his plans time and time again but also became stronger and stronger in battle...

Successive setbacks eventually struck at his state of mind, making him even more paranoid. That obsession not only refused to dissipate but actually became a bit stronger, leading him to resort to any means necessary to achieve his goals, not hesitating to sacrifice countless lives for his experiments...

"Obsession leads one to fall into devilry!"

Tang Ku saw his inner mental world at a glance; nodes resembling crystals were connected like neurons, just like shadows deep within his heart, except for one red crystal representing his obsession, which was exceptionally dazzling.

Its vibrant light radiated outward, shrouding the entire mental world in a layer of bewitching crimson!

"Are you the source?"

Tang Ku smiled slightly, extended his left index and middle fingers, and a long sword, ancient and weathered yet seemingly unremarkable, suddenly appeared. Aiming at that huge red crystal, he slashed out with the sword.

Hum!

Crack!

There was no need to reason with him; this sword strike was intended solely to sever obsession. With a strange sound, the huge crystal shattered with a bang, turning into countless tiny crystal particles floating in the air.

"Oh, these are memories created from being repeatedly defeated by me... Heh, is the obsession hidden within these memories? Then I shall break you all in one blow..."

The Prajna Wisdom Sword erupted with endless radiance. Amidst the shining white light, everything turned into nothingness, disappearing without a trace.

"Where... am I? My head... it hurts so much!"

Darwin opened his eyes and suddenly realized he seemed to be standing on a vast grassland. Looking up, he saw a few strange zebras grazing on the tender grass... These zebras had wing-like appendages growing from their flanks, though they were not very large.

"Do you know what those are?"

Tang Ku's voice rose from behind him.

Darwin couldn't help but be stunned. He actually felt no hatred toward Tang Ku at all right now, and couldn't even muster the interest to argue with him. Instead, he took a look at the strange zebras and said, "Zebras? Is this some kind of genetic synthesis? But these wings are too small; they can't possibly support such a heavy body. They can't fly. This kind of modification has no meaning!"

"Must they be able to fly?"

Tang Ku smiled and suddenly gave a whistle.

The herd of zebras was instantly startled and began to run away in a panic. At first, their speed was not very fast, but immediately afterward, the wings on their flanks suddenly spread out to the sides. In an instant, the speed of these zebras surged five or six times, and in the blink of an eye, they had vanished from Darwin's sight.

"Do you understand now?"

Tang Ku smiled.

Darwin shook his head and said, "Zebras are creatures of the grassland, so running is naturally their forte. Forcibly adding wings to them is merely icing on the cake; it doesn't have much significance!"

Tang Ku shook his head and sighed, "Do you really not understand?"

Darwin was silent for a moment. "I want to understand, but... but my heart won't allow me to... I... I don't know... I really don't know..."

Darwin suddenly fell to his knees, looking up at the sky, as if remembering something.

"Darwin, your obsession is too deep. All things in this world have their own laws of development and progress; where is there any need for human interference?"

Tang Ku pressed his palms together and said, "Life that does not progress, that does not evolve to adapt to its environment, is entirely eliminated by the rules of this Universe... There is no such thing as an absolutely perfect creature in this world, but all living things are evolving toward a more perfect state... The essence of evolution is to follow natural laws, not to destroy them by forcing development and change... Like pulling on seedlings to help them grow, the crops will surely wither. I think the creatures you created must have irreparable flaws, right?"

Darwin did not speak; his thoughts raced, and in an instant, he thought of many things.

His knowledge reserve was extremely rich, and his wisdom was quite impressive; he should have thought of these things originally.

All artificially created creatures have certain genetic defects. Whether it was those monsters, the aliens, or those locust-like freaks, they all had massive, irreparable flaws.

The monsters had extremely short lifespans, the aliens were uncontrollable, and the locust-like freaks were bloodthirsty and highly reproductive; unless natural predators were created for them, they would inevitably cause disaster...

Everything flashed through his mind, and he finally realized...

"Evolution that follows natural laws is true evolution... I should have understood this..."

Darwin's state of mind changed suddenly. He looked up at Tang Ku and said, "Holy Monk... do I still have a chance?"

Tang Ku chuckled and said, "Great enlightenment is, in itself, an opportunity, isn't it?"
