465: Monster Scout
"Did you guys see clearly what that thing was?" Tang Ku said in a deep voice.
"No!" Everyone shook their heads one after another.
Tang Xian smiled slightly, "I didn't see it clearly either, but I recorded it!"
Everyone was bewildered, but after Tang Xian finished speaking, he had already taken out a contact lens from his eye, then took out a palm-sized device from his belt, and stuck the lens onto the device.
Whoosh! A beam of light was projected instantly, actually displaying the image of the tornado from just a moment ago above his palm.
"Is this a holographic projection?" Tang Ku asked, slightly puzzled. "How many good things do you have on you, anyway?"
"Haha, these tech-based items were given to me by a good friend of my father's. Just like the portal gun on my back, although I don't understand many of the principles, they are very convenient to use!" Tang Xian laughed.
"I'm starting to suspect more and more that your father's friend is named Rick!" Tang Ku curled his lips.
"Holy crap... how did you know?" Tang Xian was startled, looking at Tang Ku with a strange expression.
Tang Ku's mouth twitched, and he couldn't help but roll his eyes. "Just pretend I didn't ask!"
Once upon a time, a dark, edgy sci-fi animated series had been all the rage. Tang Ku had also followed the show back then, so he was extremely familiar with the name. Seeing these bizarre gadgets of Tang Xian's, he had already developed certain suspicions.
Perhaps that old guy named "Rick" really existed!
But after hearing a confirmed answer, Tang Ku actually didn't believe it anymore, thinking to himself: "This guy is just goofing around. Heh, it doesn't matter if you don't want to say; I'll definitely trick all your information out of you later..."
The holographic image was running, and everyone's eyes were fixed on the tornado. Then, until Tang Ku punched it, shattering the tornado, a white shadow suddenly jumped out, and the image paused abruptly...
"Hmm, the movement speed was too fast, it's a bit blurry... Wait a second, I need to restore the image..."
As he spoke, Tang Xian was already operating the device. After pressing a few buttons, the holographic image gradually became clear. However, when everyone saw this thing, they couldn't help but be dumbfounded.
Because none of them had ever seen such a monster before; even the knowledgeable Tang Xian had never seen such a bizarre thing.
The lower half of this thing looked like a fluffy white fur ball, while the upper half was a bit shorter and also covered in thick fur. However, its head was bald, looking like a mouse and also like a wolf, with a mouth of fangs exposed, eyes bright red, pointed ears bent backward, sturdy limbs with bulging muscles, and sharp claws like blades that looked very dangerous.
Overall, it looked round and chubby, yet it had four claws and a pointed head. Furthermore, the proportion of its head to its body was extremely uncoordinated; the head was short and small, while the body was round, as if two segments of fur balls were joined together. As for those limbs, each leg was longer than its body and head combined, looking extremely bizarre!
"Is this a creature unique to the Ashura Realm? This shape..." Red Boy couldn't help but twitch his mouth, "It's just too damn strange!"
Tang Ku frowned slightly: "This thing definitely doesn't look easy to mess with. The tornado you saw earlier wasn't actually wind, but a substance similar to an energy shield. After I punched it to pieces, that guy didn't dare to show its face, but there's no guarantee it won't launch another sneak attack later. So everyone needs to stay alert; no one knows what other abilities this thing might have!"
Everyone had lingering fears about the creature's movement speed, especially since they were limited by the environment in this snowy land. Even if they were strong, they would still be affected to some extent, but this creature's mobility seemed completely unaffected by the environment. It was very likely a special creature that had completely adapted to this environment. Although it didn't seem very strong, being careful was never a mistake.
After tidying up a little, the group continued walking toward the center, which seemed to be the encampment of the Ashura Clan. They left footprints in the snow, but because they all knew Cultivation Technique moves like body-lightening techniques, the footprints in the snow were shallow, and their movement speed was much faster than ordinary people.
"This place doesn't look that far, so why have we been walking for so long and still haven't arrived?" Red Boy couldn't help but complain.
"Looking at a mountain while running can kill a horse. We used to be immortals who flew high and low, so naturally, we didn't understand the hardships of human travel," Tang Ku said with a bitter smile. "When I was on my pilgrimage, I went through all sorts of trials and tribulations, walking for over a decade to reach Spirit Mountain. Now that I think about it, if we had used flight speed, the pilgrimage would have been much simpler!"
Everyone agreed deeply. After walking for another five or six minutes, Tang Ku and the others suddenly stopped. This time, everyone stopped and looked around, furrowing their brows and observing the surrounding environment.
A strange rustling sound came from all around, just like the sound of that monster sinking into the snow earlier.
"They're here... and there's more than one..." Tang Ku said in a deep voice, "Everyone be careful..."
As soon as he finished speaking, suddenly, less than a hundred meters away from the group, hundreds of identical monsters jumped out and extended their sharp claws to sneak attack them.
Their movement speed was too fast; except for Tang Ku and Tang Xian, the remaining three didn't even see the direction of their attack.
"Heh, these things actually have some brains, knowing to pick the soft persimmons to squeeze..." Seeing that the monsters had abandoned his direction and charged directly toward the others, Tang Ku couldn't help but sneer.
Tang Xian narrowed his eyes slightly and said, "Heh, was that guy from earlier a scout? Interesting..."
As he spoke, his arm, covered by a cotton-padded jacket, actually inflated like a balloon, and then he threw a punch at the first monster that charged up.
"Whoo... Boom!" A strange current of Qi burst out from his fist, and the terrifying impact force instantly acted on the monster's chest. The monster just shuddered, its chest instantly collapsed, its back bulged out, and it rolled its eyes as it fell from the sky into the snow pile.
"Hmm, not very agile, it should just be faster in linear acceleration..." Tang Xian waved his hand. His left hand had already grabbed the neck of one of the monsters, and then, repeating the same trick, he threw a punch into the monster's chest and abdomen.
"Whoo... Boom!" In the blink of an eye, he had solved another one.
Looking back, he saw a long spear appear in Red Boy's hand, which he wielded so tightly that not even a drop of water could pass through, like a torrential rain of pear blossoms, almost turning the monsters into sieves. The monsters cried out in pain as they fell into the snow and disappeared without a trace. On this side, two vines suddenly appeared in Xiao Cui's hands, binding two of the monsters. She smashed them everywhere until she had smashed five or six away, finally throwing these two down, but these two monsters were already breathing more than they were inhaling!
Heishan's attack method was the simplest. He let those monsters get close, open their big mouths, and bite him with a crunching sound, then he would take them down one by one with a single punch.
Tang Ku watched calmly and couldn't help but smack his lips, saying, "Don't kill them all; you guys should let me stretch my muscles too..."
