633: Classic of Mountains and Seas

When they emerged from the Slanting Moon Three Stars Cave, the old man had turned back into a skeleton, and Tang Ku barely dared to glance at Tang Xuan... even though Tang Xuan was truly a great beauty!

They returned to Chang'an quickly; without even visiting the imperial palace, they went straight to the Du Xin Domain.

Tang Ku played it sly. He didn't go to see his Disciples, his confidantes, or any other friends; instead, he slipped straight into his meditation room to go into seclusion.

Of course, this wasn't just an excuse. After all, he really did need to go into seclusion to contemplate his future, and... to take a look at that very ordinary thread-bound copy of the classic of mountains and seas.

The book was very thick and heavy. As far as Tang Ku knew, the classic of mountains and seas was itself an all-encompassing encyclopedia of ancient mythology, but as for it being of any help to cultivation... it never seemed to have been.

However, this copy of the classic of mountains and seas was somewhat different, because this thing was far too thick and heavy; the original classic of mountains and seas was a mere child compared to it.

Taking a deep breath, Tang Ku opened the first page...

The art style was rough and wild, like a child's doodle, but a sense of ancient, vigorous power rushed at him. A single axe appeared on the page; its structure was simple, its lines clear, yet it exuded a raw, savage force that could only belong to the primeval era...

Seeing specks of starlight, countless visions flooded in. Tang Ku saw a giant of unfathomable height, brandishing the massive axe from the picture, slashing out towards a void of Chaos...

Swoosh!

Covered in cold sweat, Tang Ku instantly broke free from the illusion. He looked around in a daze, discovering he was still in the meditation room, and now not only his forehead but his entire body was drenched in sweat.

Since he first stepped onto the path of cultivation, he had never broken out in such a cold sweat.

But he didn't pay any attention to that; instead, he raised his palm to look at it, suddenly frowning slightly, and turned his head to look at the candlelight nearby.

Pfft!

He slashed his right hand horizontally, as if a gust of wind had risen from a flat ground. The flame instantly separated from the candle wick, hovered into Tang Ku's palm, and was then tossed back by him, leaving the candle wick completely undamaged.

"In less than a few minutes, have I actually developed a new Law from the Power Law?"

Tang Ku frowned slightly, "That must have been Pangu the Saint, without a doubt. Just the first half of the image of him opening the heavens and splitting the earth greatly improved my cultivation of state of mind, even reaching the point of comprehending a new Law... Hmm, no, that's not right, absolutely not right..."

Seeming to think of something else, Tang Ku turned the page in his hand to the second page.

It was a vine whip... or rather, it was just an ordinary tree vine!

The art style was the same, rough and wild with a hint of dominance, but within that dominance, there was a touch of gentleness.

Tang Ku's eyes fixed on the image, and he was pulled into a new illusion.

A human head and snake body; although the upper body was bare, it didn't stir any evil thoughts, but instead felt warm, reassuring, like a fledgling bird returning to its nest.

That was one of the first ancestors of humanity, the Great Saint of the Yao Race, Nüwa, who was molding clay figurines one by one with her hands.

However, the scene shifted. Suddenly, the vine from the previous image appeared in the hand of the Saint Nüwa. She lashed it out at the mud pit on the ground, and countless mud spots instantly scattered...

"Hmm? The image cut off again, but..."

Tang Ku's brows were locked tight. He turned his head, aiming again at the candle. He gently blew at the candle's flame. The flame flashed twice, then actually detached itself from the candle, joyfully hopping onto Tang Ku's shoulder, as if cheering for having gained a new life.

However, good times didn't last long; the flame was simply too small. After burning for less than two minutes with a bit of oxygen, it slowly disappeared with a sense of sorrow.

"Does this... count as the Life Law?"

Tang Ku frowned slightly, then seemed to think of something. He couldn't help but shake his head vigorously and said in a deep voice, "No... that's not right. This is merely the prototype of a Law. Although it seems I have successfully comprehended it, it's still missing something... You have to know, those two sets of images just now... neither reached the end!"

Tang Ku was right. Pangu opening the heavens at the beginning had only reached the moment he swung his axe, and Nüwa creating humans had only reached the moment the vine flung the mud spots... The subsequent scenes, the separation of heaven and earth and the birth of humans, had all vanished, as if they had never existed.

"Then let's see what the next image is... Uh... what on earth is this?"

The image was somewhat abstract; it seemed to be a high mountain, but it had snapped in the middle, its peak crooked and fallen to the side...

The illusion appeared again. Tang Ku's vision blurred, and he saw, in the midst of a darkened sky and earth, a great god of the Yao Race with azure hair slamming his massive head towards a god with fiery red hair. But the red-haired god just dodged lightly, avoiding this fatal blow, while the blue-haired god crashed headlong into the mountain behind him...

Boom!

A heaven-shattering, earth-cracking roar... and then... there was no then!

"Is this the ancient legend of Gonggong angrily striking Mount Buzhou? Is it also only half?"

Tang Ku's heart stirred. Within his body, a kind of primitive impulse and violent gene suddenly emerged. Then, without him making any movement, the entire house, along with the entire courtyard of the Du Xin Domain, and even the entire city, began to tremble slightly, making the people around extremely nervous, thinking that some other powerhouse had come to Chang'an to provoke trouble.

Tang Ku finally understood the significance of this book.

That's right, the power just now was also the manifestation of some kind of Law... It was the power belonging exclusively to the Law of Destruction!

"The significance of this book is not to let me comprehend Laws... This book is like some mechanism of Myriad Paths Reincarnation; it's used to let me choose the direction of Laws!"

Tang Ku suddenly smiled, "It really is a treasure, hehe. Since that's the case, I'll go through it page by page... I'm really looking forward to it. If I finish comprehending the whole book, what kind of improvement will I have..."

...

In the Original Universe, a man lying on a recliner in the Void Realm, drinking an iced Americano, suddenly opened his eyes and said with some surprise: "Great, this guy can actually read the classic of mountains and seas all the way to the end... This way, his chances of defeating Ge Gang have increased by a lot!"

"You only opened one page back then!"

Suddenly, a voice appeared behind him. A chubby hand was holding a roasted chicken, chewing on it with relish!

"I hadn't comprehended any Laws back then. Being able to open one page without fainting was already something to be thankful for, okay?"

The man said helplessly, "I really didn't expect that even you couldn't endure the loneliness and wanted to go play a few rounds?"

"It's suffocating, just going out to clear my head... Damn it, do you humans all have to face this kind of life pressure after getting married?"

The chubby figure said helplessly.

Taking a sip of his iced Americano, the man said helplessly: "Yeah, household chores are always the most headache-inducing!"
