509: Repair the remains
"Although the environment in Purgatory is very similar to the Mo Wen Plains in the Ashura Realm, it is much harsher than the Mo Wen Plains!"
Sun Wukong hugged his shoulders and shivered, saying, "This thing—if I had my previous Physical Body, I wouldn't be afraid of this at all, but now... Achoo... Master, when have you ever seen me sneeze!"
Tang Ku chuckled and said, "Letting you experience what it's like to be a Mortal is a good thing; it will also be helpful for your future cultivation!"
Ksitigarbha also laughed and said, "Great Sage, do not panic; we will soon find the place that Sanzang mentioned!"
The three of them walked along the snowy ground, leaving behind several deep footprints. This was because Tang Ku and Ksitigarbha were accommodating him since he couldn't fly, so they deliberately walked with him. Otherwise, they would have already found the place several minutes ago.
"Throughout this entire Purgatory, many ancient Vicious Beasts are actually imprisoned. Many could not withstand the erosion of time and have already died, but their Physical Bodies still exist... Back then, after you killed that guy, the Buddha arranged for his Physical Body to be placed here, completely separated his soul from this body, and threw it into the Reincarnation! However, this Physical Body remains intact, so the best way to restore your body is to use his!"
Tang Ku finally explained slowly to Sun Wukong.
"Achoo! I... I had already guessed it... Damn it, how can this body be... so fragile... that it can't even stand this bit of cold? Achoo..."
Sun Wukong said helplessly.
"There is no other way. This body is merely a Puppet refined from a Mortal's body. Even though it is protected by magic power and is quite sturdy and durable, it cannot withstand this kind of cold air specifically designed to damage the soul just by relying on a strong Physical Body..."
Ksitigarbha laughed and said, "Don't worry, do you see that cave? If I remember correctly, that should be it!"
Sun Wukong was overjoyed and ran toward the cave, his left leg tripping over his right in his lack of agility.
This cave was just like the one where Qiongqi was originally imprisoned; it was a large hole protruding from the ground, looking very much like a giant seashell standing there.
As soon as the three entered the cave, the temperature seemed to improve significantly in an instant. Then, they saw a figure sitting cross-legged on the ground in the center. There were no restrictions on its body at all, not even the most basic protective measures like iron cables or chains.
"Hehe... finally, finally there is a chance to... uh, wait..."
Sun Wukong suddenly pointed at the head of the body and said, "Who said this thing was intact? Isn't the hole in its head still there? You're just going to let me go out with you wearing this?"
"I didn't say it was completely intact; it's just relatively perfect!"
Tang Ku curled his lips and said, "Although the Six-Eared Macaque's head was beaten into a winnowing basket by you—it would even hold water on a rainy day—we have discussed it. Countless monsters have died here, and Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha has a considerable understanding of living beings. As long as we use the Physical Bodies of these dead Vicious Beasts to re-temper your body, this body might very well become even stronger than your previous Lingming Stone Monkey body!"
That's right, this was the body of the Six-Eared Macaque, the one beaten to death by Sun Wukong with a single staff strike in the chapter about the True and False Great Sage!
As one of the Four Monkeys of the World, this monkey possessed profound magic power and keen sensory abilities, keeping the Three Realms in turmoil. Therefore, the Buddha separated his soul from his body, imprisoned the body here, and threw the soul into the Reincarnation...
Tang Ku and the others intended to use the Six-Eared Macaque's body to reshape the Physical Body for Sun Wukong.
As both are among the Four Monkeys of the World, while they differ from each other, their spiritual nature is the same, and their bodies are almost identical. Using it as Sun Wukong's new body could not be more suitable.
Sun Wukong curled his lips and looked at Tang Ku with suspicious eyes, saying, "Can this really work? By the way, you aren't trying to trick me, are you?"
"Why the hell are you so long-winded? Do you want it or not? If you don't want it, we're leaving!"
Tang Ku rolled his eyes and said, "Your Master has racked his brains for your sake, and it was not easy to come up with such a perfect idea. Yet you are still being picky and ungrateful. Do you really think the Buddha enjoys serving you? If you say one more word, I'll break your legs!"
Sun Wukong's mouth twitched: "...You are becoming less and less like a virtuous high monk; you are no different from a bandit or a thug!"
Tang Ku said proudly, "Thank you for the compliment; your Master is indeed different from before!"
Ksitigarbha laughed and said, "I actually think that Sanzang has more genuine character than before, just like when he was still the Golden Cicada!"
Tang Ku chuckled: "Then, Bodhisattva, I will go find some Physical Bodies of Vicious Beasts to bring over, which we will need in a moment!"
Ksitigarbha laughed and said, "Hmm, go ahead. Remember, for those Vicious Beasts that have already died, those seashell-like caves have pointed tops, and there is almost no snow around them. For those that have not died, the snow will be very thick, and their 'seashells' are rounded tops!"
"Understood... Hmm, if there aren't any nearby, can I kill a few and bring them over?"
Tang Ku said.
"This... hehe, do as you please!"
Ksitigarbha laughed awkwardly, "I didn't expect your Killing Intent to be so heavy now... Hehe, go, go. I will tidy up this body first..."
Tang Ku chuckled, turned, and left the cave. In a short while, he had returned and said to Ksitigarbha with a smile, "I picked up quite a few good things. Among them are a Taotie, a Bifang, a Bashe... Oh, and a big gorilla I've never heard of, and so on. They are quite large in size and very robust, so I brought them all..."
As he spoke, Tang Ku waved his large sleeve, and the entire cave was almost instantly piled full, appearing with a huge heap of monster corpses whose names he couldn't call out.
"Are these enough?"
Ksitigarbha's mouth twitched, "This is too many... Hmm, never mind, never mind. Since they've all been brought here, it would be a waste not to use them... Great Sage, watch me perform the technique in a moment. When I say it's ready, you just need to escape with your soul and enter the range of my Formation..."
The monkey danced with excitement and then pressed his palms together, saying, "Thank you, Bodhisattva!"
As he spoke, Ksitigarbha gently clapped his hands. The Six-Eared Macaque's body suddenly shook, and a faint aura of Death Qi began to disperse continuously.
"Hehe, the body still carries resentment; how will that do... Come, come... Let this Poor Monk perform salvation..."
A burst of scripture suddenly appeared on the Six-Eared Macaque's body as he chanted. Immediately after... countless golden Sanskrit characters began to circle around the Six-Eared Macaque's body. Once those Death Qi were illuminated by this light, they instantly vanished into nothingness. Then, Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha beckoned with his hand, and the Taotie body in the front suddenly floated up, becoming smaller and smaller, until it finally entered Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha's palm. Then, with a casual throw, he tossed the palm-sized Vicious Beast directly into the hole in the Six-Eared Macaque's head. A golden light flashed, and the flesh inside the hole suddenly opened up and actually began to slowly heal...
