293: Pathfinder

Tang Ku narrowed his eyes as he looked in that direction, trying to pat Di Renjie on the back, only to find that the guy didn't respond in the slightest.

That's fine too. If I bring him along, it will be quite inconvenient to move... I'll come back to save him later!

As he spoke, his figure kept flickering in and out of existence, until he finally found a door in one corner of the great hall.

Oh, it has biometric identification? That's novel...

Looking at the camera and the palm print scanner in front of him, Tang Ku couldn't help but feel a deep sense of nostalgia, as if he had entered some technology company from his previous life.

Heh, this is easy to handle too...

He looked at the rows of naked men over there and smiled slightly. With a light wave of his right fist, a burst of Qi flew out gently and struck the back of one of the men at the very end of a row. The guy's body was stiff, and he fell forward like a zombie, immediately bumping into the one in front of him. Then, like dominoes, the entire row of people fell forward.

Ding... beep, beep, beep...

A rapid alarm sounded, and the entire space was flashing with red lights, though the source of the light could not be seen.

Tang Ku huddled in a corner, waiting quietly. With his extremely keen senses, he soon heard a flurry of chaotic footsteps coming from outside the door.

A few seconds later, the large door split open to the left and right, and a swarm of aliens with large heads and thin necks rushed in. Seizing the gap left by the last one to enter, Tang Ku instantly darted out through the metal door.

Before leaving, he glanced at those aliens again. Watching the door close automatically, he finally had time to examine the corridor, and then immediately flew toward the end of the corridor at top speed.

He had to move quickly; after all, this was the enemy's base or something similar. He even saw devices resembling surveillance equipment on the walls. Only by moving fast enough would he avoid being captured by the enemy in such a short time, giving him a chance to investigate.

Heh, I thought these guys were aliens, but it turns out they're just wearing some kind of protective suit... Hmm, that warehouse-like place earlier had nearly five or six thousand people gathered, right... What are they catching so many people for? And that seemingly bizarre screening condition of chivalrous acts is also baffling...

Tang Ku frowned slightly, suddenly discovering a blind spot for the surveillance at a corner, and immediately stopped there to look around.

All along the way, this corridor has been made entirely of steel, and the signs are all in both Chinese and English. The Chinese is even in traditional characters, making it very easy to identify... Hmm, I remember passing three storerooms, a control room, an electrical engineering room... Hmm, there also seems to be a cafeteria and dormitories... What exactly is this place? A laboratory... or some confidential engineering project? Hmm, no... If it has Chinese and English side-by-side... After all, there are no other Europeans or similar existences in this world, so Darwin and his group are very suspicious... Hmm, could this be some kind of biological experiment base...

After pondering for a moment, he decided to capture someone to interrogate and get to the bottom of it.

Just as he was thinking this, footsteps finally came again from the direction he had come from, and besides that, there were even some people talking.

It's really strange, there was clearly no one there, so how did they fall over?

Another voice said: The captain has already checked. There's actually an empty spot there. Could someone have escaped from prison?

Escape my ass. These people have had their souls locked away. Without the help of Buddha Dharma or Daoist arts, it's impossible for them to break free from control... It must be that something went wrong during the last retrieval, which is why there's a gap in that position. It's not worth mentioning.

No, no... The captain just said that there seemed to be a high-energy reaction in that space. I'm afraid someone might have infiltrated to spy on some secrets...

That's hard to say...

Three or five people wearing those green protective suits with full-head helmets walked along, their voices muffled. If it weren't for Tang Ku's exceptional hearing, he wouldn't have been able to hear what they were saying at all.

Inside their protective suits, there must be devices that allow them to communicate with each other...

Tang Ku floated in the air, using a basic concealment technique to hide his figure. Watching the group of guys pass below, he quietly descended and hovered three feet above the ground. He targeted the last person and struck his vagus nerve on the side of his neck with a palm from behind.

Although this guy was wearing a metal protective suit, Tang Ku's power was not something that ordinary protective gear could block, and he immediately passed out completely. Tang Ku was quick-eyed and nimble-handed; he grabbed the back of the guy's collar and flew up to the ceiling with him.

After flying along the top for a while, Tang Ku saw a place that looked like a factory with various pipes arranged, and he couldn't help but smile slightly: This is a good place...

As he spoke, he carried the guy and flew upward, squeezing into the position closest to the ceiling, and sat on a massive concrete pipe that was a full two meters in diameter.

Tearing off the opponent's helmet and placing it aside, Tang Ku slapped the guy awake. The moment the guy jolted, Tang Ku suddenly grabbed him by the throat and smiled, saying: Now, I ask, you answer. If you dare to scream or use your communication device to call for companions or anything like that, I will strangle you. Do you... understand? If you understand, blink twice.

The guy was a thin man, and he blinked with a face full of terror.

Tang Ku released his hand in satisfaction. The other party's legs suddenly went soft, and he almost knelt on the ground. It was only because Tang Ku held him by the shoulder that he was able to stand steadily.

Crushing the alloy helmet in his hand into scrap metal, he handed the object to the shivering guy to hold. The guy's eyes became even more fearful, and he swallowed hard, saying: G-Great Hero... p-please say what you need... I... I will tell you everything I know, without holding anything back...

Tang Ku tilted his head to look at him, narrowed his eyes slightly, and said: Listening to your accent... you are a person from the Sichuan-Shaanxi region of the Central Plains?

Y-yes... I am... I am a person of the Great Tang...

The guy said stutteringly.

That settles it then. Why are you, a person of the Great Tang, helping outsiders do evil and harming our own people?

Tang Ku suddenly said sternly, Do you know what the fate of a traitor is? It's death!

The other party was so scared by his shout that he almost peed himself, and he couldn't even speak when he wanted to beg for mercy.

However... it's not without room for maneuver; that depends on whether you can perform some meritorious service...

Tang Ku said with a smile.
