190: Licensed battery technology

"Although Ms. Lei is young, her vision and perspective far exceed those of ordinary people. Moreover, she places great importance on technological innovation, which aligns perfectly with BYD's philosophy."

"This meeting is crucial; it concerns the future development of the company. Everyone needs to stay sharp and prepare well to clearly explain our advantages and plans to Ms. Lei. Furthermore, the reception must be of the highest standard—there must be no mistakes."

The executives nodded one after another. Although they were still a bit apprehensive, seeing Wang Quanfu's calm demeanor helped them gradually settle down.

Over the next few days, Wang Quanfu personally oversaw the various preparations for the reception.

He had the VIP room on the top floor of BYD's headquarters redecorated with brand-new sofas and tea sets, and even specially ordered exquisite refreshments and dinner from the best restaurant in Pengcheng.

He also arranged for the company's top-tier motorcade to pick her up at the airport, even though Lei Jun had said it wasn't necessary.

Meanwhile, he had the technical department compile BYD's latest R&D achievements, market share data, and future development plans into a booklet to be given to Lei Jun for reference.

Wang Quanfu calculated in his heart that he must let Lei Jun see BYD's strength and potential, so she would feel confident leaving the company's management to him. He also hoped to secure more resource support, such as R&D funding and technical cooperation.

On Friday evening, Lei Jun got off the plane and arrived near BYD's headquarters. She called Wang Quanfu: "I'm downstairs at your company."

Wang Quanfu had already been waiting in the first-floor lobby with several core executives. Upon receiving the call, he immediately hurried to the entrance.

The executives behind him were all veterans of BYD. Usually high-spirited, they now looked solemn, their faces filled with a mix of nervousness and anticipation.

From a distance, Wang Quanfu saw a young girl.

The girl wore a simple white T-shirt and jeans, with her silver hair flowing casually over her shoulders. Her skin was fair, her features incredibly delicate, and she possessed a cold yet noble temperament. Despite wearing ordinary clothes, she carried an aura that made people afraid to look directly at her.

This was Lei Jun?

Wang Quanfu and the executives were all dazed.

They had heard that Lei Jun was young, but they hadn't expected her to be this young. She looked barely twenty, even younger than the fresh university graduates at the company.

Lei Jun walked to the lobby entrance, her gaze sweeping over the group before quickly locking onto Wang Quanfu standing at the front.

After all, his aura was different from the others; he was clearly the leader.

"Ms. Lei, hello, hello! I am Wang Quanfu. A very warm welcome to you!"

Wang Quanfu snapped back to his senses and hurriedly stepped forward, extending both hands with utmost respect. His palms were even slightly sweaty.

The other executives also hurriedly followed suit, greeting her: "Hello, Ms. Lei!"

Lei Jun gave a symbolic handshake, her fingers barely touching his before withdrawing. Her tone remained flat: "There's no need for such formalities. Let's talk inside."

"Of course, of course. Ms. Lei, this way please!"

Wang Quanfu quickly stepped aside to lead the way, personally escorting Lei Jun toward the elevators. The other executives followed behind in silence; only the sound of footsteps echoed in the lobby.

The elevator was a specially reserved VIP one, with thick carpets inside and excellent soundproofing.

Wang Quanfu wanted to find a topic to break the awkward silence, but he didn't know what to say, fearing he might say something wrong and upset Lei Jun.

Lei Jun didn't feel awkward at all. Leaning against the elevator wall, she was thinking about the matters they were about to discuss.

Her main purpose for coming this time was to license future Solid-state lithium battery technology to BYD, while also clarifying the company's strategic direction with Wang Quanfu, ensuring his cooperation in integrating resources from Ali and Xiaomi.

Ali's cloud computing and big data could help BYD optimize its intelligent driving systems and expand sales channels through e-commerce platforms.

Xiaomi's smart ecosystem and marketing experience could be leveraged to launch co-branded cars with BYD, linking smartphones, smart homes, and vehicles.

Combined with her solid-state battery technology, these three elements would undoubtedly allow BYD to skyrocket.

The elevator soon reached the top floor. As the doors opened, a VIP room that was luxuriously yet tastefully decorated came into view.

Landscape paintings hung on the walls, imported wool carpets covered the floor, and a set of leather sofas sat in the center. The coffee table nearby was filled with fresh fruit and exquisite refreshments.

"Ms. Lei, please have a seat!" Wang Quanfu invited Lei Jun to sit in the main chair and personally poured her a cup of tea. "This is this year's new tea; please try some."

Lei Jun sat down and took a sip from the teacup. The taste was quite good, but since she didn't know much about tea, she simply said, "It's quite good."

Wang Quanfu breathed a sigh of relief; it seemed Ms. Lei wasn't that difficult to get along with.

He sat across from Lei Jun, and just as he was about to take out the prepared materials to introduce BYD's situation, Lei Jun interrupted him.

"Mr. Wang, I came here today primarily to discuss one thing with you." Lei Jun put down her teacup and looked directly at Wang Quanfu.

"I have a world-leading Solid-state lithium battery technology in my possession. It has already been patented, and I can now license it to BYD."

Wang Quanfu's hand, which had just picked up his teacup, froze, and the smile on his face stiffened.

World-leading Solid-state lithium battery technology?

Had he heard correctly?

To him, Lei Jun's words sounded like a complete fairy tale.

Wang Quanfu had been deeply involved in the new energy vehicle industry for decades and knew the current state of battery technology development like the back of his hand.

Solid-state lithium batteries were the industry-recognized future direction, but there were many technical bottlenecks. Car companies and research institutions worldwide were working frantically on R&D, yet not a single one could provide a mature mass-production solution.

BYD itself had invested over ten billion in R&D and assembled a massive scientific research team that had spent years studying solid-state batteries, yet they had still failed to break through the key technologies.

The most advanced solid-state batteries in the industry currently barely reached an energy density of 400Wh/kg, with a maximum range of 600 kilometers. Moreover, the costs were extremely high, making mass production impossible.

Not to mention low-temperature performance; at temperatures below -20°C, the conductivity of current solid-state batteries would drop significantly, making them unusable.

There was also the sensitivity to humidity during the production process—even slight fluctuations could affect product quality. These were all extremely difficult problems to overcome.

And yet Lei Jun said she had world-leading Solid-state lithium battery technology? And that it was already patented?

Wang Quanfu's heart was full of doubt.

He felt that either Ms. Lei didn't know the industry and had been scammed...

...or she was intentionally exaggerating to seize control of the company's R&D direction.

How could a young girl, no matter how wealthy or well-connected, suddenly produce technology that even industry giants like BYD, Tesla, and Panasonic couldn't manage?

It simply defied common sense.
