294: What a tragedy, what a terrible tragedy!
Nala was pushed by Atapong and stumbled, nearly falling. She was both shocked and furious: "Atapong! Are you crazy! My things are in there!"
Atapong turned a deaf ear. He roughly unzipped the handbag, reached inside to rummage around, and soon pulled out a book with a dark blue cover.
He pulled it out and, with a "smack," slammed it heavily onto the center of the card table!
It was a Property Deed.
Striking words were printed on the cover.
Atapong pressed one hand on the Property Deed and pointed the other viciously at Su Cha.
"Look closely! Su Cha! This is the factory I worked hard for five years to build! All the equipment, buildings, and land are right here!"
He gasped for breath, his eyes bloodshot like a gambler who had lost everything, letting out a desperate roar.
"I'm betting it all! Using it as collateral against you!"
"1.5 million!"
"Is that enough?!!!"
Lei Jun frowned.
Atapong had really gone mad.
She originally thought that no matter how impulsive Atapong was, he would still care for his own business. She hadn't expected him to actually put up the factory he had operated for five years as a stake. This was no longer just a simple card game; he was truly gambling with his life and livelihood.
She turned to look at Su Cha, wanting to see his reaction.
Su Cha stood still, his face expressionless, but Lei Jun could sense his breathing was slightly heavier than before. Clearly, he was also startled by Atapong's desperate move.
Hearing that Atapong was actually going to bet the factory, his father Songphong was instantly shocked.
He roared directly at Atapong.
"You little brat! Have you lost your mind?! This factory is what you're relying on for the rest of your life. How can you use it to gamble?!"
"Are you kidding me?"
Songphong stomped his feet in anxiety, stepping forward to grab the Property Deed on the gambling table.
"Get it back quickly, this game can't go on anymore!"
But Atapong held onto the Property Deed tightly, bracing his elbow to prevent Songphong from touching it.
"Dad, leave me alone!" he roared without looking back. "I must win this game today. If I lose, I'll have nothing left!"
Nala, seeing this from the side, was also jumping with anxiety.
She also stepped forward to help snatch the Property Deed.
"Atapong, let go! You can't bet the factory!" she shouted while pulling at Atapong's arm.
But even together, she and Songphong were no match for Atapong.
Atapong had been running businesses away for years, so he was much stronger than them. Bracing himself against both of them, he still managed to hold the Property Deed down firmly. His face was flushed red as he continued to hiss, "Don't touch it! Nobody touch it! I'm definitely betting this factory today!"
Unable to snatch it, Nala's temper flared completely. She gave up the struggle, took a step back, and shouted at Atapong with her hands on her hips, "Atapong, you big idiot! Su Cha is crazy, and you're going crazy with him, aren't you?"
She pointed at Su Cha, her eyes full of venom.
"This bastard clearly wants to play dirty and trick you into betting more! He doesn't have a good hand at all; he just wants to scare you into folding! Don't you dare fall for his trick, you can't bet anymore!"
Discussions in the courtyard rose and fell, noisier than at any other time.
"Good heavens! How did the stakes get so high? Even the factory is being used as collateral? This is too insane!"
"Mad, they've all gone mad!"
"Both Su Cha and Atapong are crazy! Someone talk to them and get them to stop quickly. I feel like if they keep playing like this, someone's going to die!"
"Advise them for what? Let's just watch the show. Why are you so anxious? Mind your own business. You don't see such an exciting scene every day."
"Exactly! Watching the spectacle is great. It'll be even more interesting if they start fighting later! I want to see who can beat whom."
"Sigh, I think Nala makes a lot of sense. Su Cha is clearly just blustering, trying to trick Atapong into raising the stakes. I hope Atapong listens to reason and stops being so stubborn."
"Listen to what reason? It's better if Atapong doesn't listen. Have you forgotten how he belittled us 'country bumpkins' just now? Calling us poor and saying we've never seen the world. Someone like him deserves bad luck; it'll be satisfying to see him lose everything!"
"Right! Let him lose! Someone who looks down on others like that deserves such an end!"
Hearing Nala's cursing and the discussions around him, Atapong turned to glare at Nala, the fierce light in his eyes almost frightening her.
"You fool!" he roared at Nala. "What do you know?!"
"If I chicken out and fold here today, I'll never be able to hold my head up again for the rest of my life!"
"From now on, the villagers will laugh at me, saying that I, Atapong, couldn't even beat Su Cha, and that I'm a coward!"
"Losing to an idiot like Su Cha is a sheer humiliation! A sheer humiliation, do you understand???"
He almost screamed it out.
"If I admit defeat, the money and things I bet before will be gone too! Have you forgotten? We've bet a lot already! It adds up to hundreds of thousands!"
"If all this is gone, how will our family survive? Do you want me to die?"
Atapong's emotions became increasingly agitated.
Songphong stood to the side, his face extremely grim.
He was left speechless by his son's rebuttal. His son was right; they had already bet a lot. If they folded now, all those things would belong to Su Cha, and the loss would be too great.
But if they continued and bet the factory, if they lost, they would truly have nothing left.
Songphong was torn inside.
He knew they couldn't continue, or something terrible would happen.
But he couldn't persuade his son. Atapong was now blinded by anger and gambling addiction, unable to listen to any advice.
He was considered a man of status in the village, but now that his son had caused such a scene, his dignity was completely gone.
If his son really lost the factory, their family would never be able to hold their heads up in the village again. How could they even stay there?
Songphong paced anxiously, muttering to himself, "What a sin, truly a sin!"
How did he raise such an impulsive, irritable, and stubborn son?
If only his son could be a bit calmer, things wouldn't have reached this point.
Nala was stunned by Atapong's roar, then she also grew angry and yelled back, "You're the fool! You're a madman!"
"Then let me ask you, what if Su Cha's hand is better than yours? What then! When the factory is gone and the things we bet before are gone, our family will be completely finished! What then, tell me!"
Atapong was choked up by Nala's question, then roared excitedly, "Stop talking bullsh*t, what you're saying is impossible!"
"It's impossible for Su Cha's hand to be better than mine, I have Three Queens! This hand is already very strong. Even if he replaced her with this Lei Jun, it wouldn't matter! What could a young girl know about golden flower? She must be playing blindly!"
