315: Arguing unreasonably is useless.
Atapong's face showed a pleading expression as he spoke helplessly.
"Su Cha, do we have to choose? We're all relatives, we see each other all the time... can't we just... forget about it? I know I was wrong, I won't dare do it again. I'll apologize to you and Uncle Wenzhalun, okay?"
He held onto a final sliver of hope in his heart, hoping Su Cha would let him off the hook for the sake of their kinship.
As long as Su Cha was willing to let him go, he would do anything.
"No!" Su Cha roared directly, cutting off Atapong's words.
"Do you think apologizing now is useful? When you forced me to gamble, why didn't you think about us being relatives? When you humiliated my father, why didn't you think about us being relatives?"
"When you thought us poor relatives were easy to bully, why didn't you think about us being relatives?"
Su Cha's voice grew louder and louder, filled with rage.
"You bet your audi just to show off in front of everyone, to show you're richer than us, didn't you? Didn't you think we wouldn't dare bet big against you? But you didn't expect that I would actually dare to bet everything and play to the end with you! Am I right?"
Atapong was left speechless by Su Cha's rebukes, unable to say a single word.
Su Cha was right; that was exactly what he had thought. He felt Su Cha and the others were paupers who wouldn't dare gamble so much, which was why he dared to be so arrogant.
But now, he had lost utterly and completely.
Su Cha continued to lecture him: "When you were lording it over us, did you ever think this day would come? Did you think you were amazing just because you had some money? Did you think you could bully your poor relatives however you wanted? Admit it, Atapong! Today... you played yourself!!!"
Being humiliated publicly by Su Cha like this, Atapong felt he had lost all face.
His body went weak, his legs gave out, and he fell straight from his chair, slumping onto the ground again.
Lei Jun watched the scene, her gaze remaining calm.
Su Cha was right; Atapong had indeed played himself.
There are always people in this world who, relying on a bit of money, look down on everyone else and trample on their dignity, thinking they can do whatever they want.
But they forget that there is always someone better and a higher heaven; arrogance and overbearing behavior will eventually come at a price.
Atapong's ending today was his best punishment.
Lei Jun turned her head slightly to look at Su Qing and Su Ya beside her.
Su Qing had a gratified smile on her face.
Su Ya also held Su Qing's hand tightly, her face full of a happy smile, feeling glad for her brother.
Just then, Atapong's wife, Nala, suddenly jumped up and said indignantly, "Su Cha hasn't revealed his cards yet! Who knows what his last card is! This round doesn't count!"
Nala knew in her heart that Su Cha's hand was likely a set of Aces, and she and Atapong had already lost for sure.
But she still didn't want to give up, wanting to seize the last chance to act shamelessly.
As long as Su Cha didn't reveal his cards, she would have an excuse and might not have to hand over the things to him.
Nala's words enraged the crowd, and they all began to criticize her.
"What are you dreaming about! You're still trying to back out at this point!"
"Your hand is a pair of Queens, and Su Cha's is a pair of Aces! Even without looking at the last card, Su Cha wins! Does he even need to show it?"
"Exactly! A loss is a loss, stop your deathbed struggle! Hand over the things already!"
"Don't even think about welshing! We're telling you, no way! If you dare try to back out today, we definitely won't let you off!"
"I've seen shameless people, but never anyone this shameless! Losing and then refusing to acknowledge the debt—this really broadens my horizons!"
Su Cha said coldly, "Sister-in-law Nala, pestering unreasonably is useless! A loss is a loss. Do I really need to teach you the principle of accepting a loss in a bet????"
"You were the ones who said that once the stakes are on the table, there's no going back, even if lightning strikes! What now, you want to go back on your word?"
Su Cha felt Nala was simply unreasonable.
To still be thinking of welshing at this point was truly too shameless. He would definitely not let them succeed; he had to settle the account today.
His wife, Pinya, also stepped forward and said, "I think we should collect the stakes on the table first, lest they try to play tricks!"
With that, Pinya began to gather the cash and chips on the table.
Unexpectedly, Nala rushed over and blocked her, spreading her arms in front of the table and shouting loudly, "No! No one is allowed to touch my money!"
"If you want money, you'll have to take my life!!!"
Nala put on a desperate, do-or-die stance, her face full of ferocity.
As long as she guarded the money and items, Su Cha and the others couldn't get them.
At worst, they'd all go down together; if she couldn't have it, Su Cha wouldn't get it either.
Su Cha said coldly, "Sister-in-law, do you think this looks good? Throwing a tantrum and acting shamelessly in front of so many relatives and neighbors—don't you find it embarrassing?"
Nala, red-faced and neck veins bulging, said, "I don't care how it looks! You're taking my money, and money is my life! You can have my life but not the money! I won't give you a single cent!"
Su Cha's wife, Pinya, stepped forward and said to Nala, "Cousin-in-law, how can you be like this! Accepting a loss is the most basic principle, don't you understand? What kind of ability is this, throwing a tantrum like a child? It only makes people look down on you more!"
Nala directly ignored Pinya's words, shrieking excitedly, "I don't care! Anyway, I just won't give the money! If anyone tries to take my money, I'll fight them to the death!"
As she spoke, she even deliberately lunged forward a few steps to try and scare Pinya. Su Mei, standing to the side, had long since lost her patience.
Unable to take it, she rushed over, grabbed Nala's arm, and lectured her, "It's one thing for you to be arrogant normally, but to still have this attitude now! You've really been spoiled with these foul habits! Today, I'm going to teach you a good lesson and let you know what rules are!"
Su Mei was very angry.
Nala was too shameless; after losing, she not only refused to admit it but also threw a tantrum and threatened everyone. She definitely couldn't let her succeed; she had to help Su Cha settle the debt.
Su Mei called out to the crowd, "Everyone, come over and pull her away! Don't let her waste any more time here!"
The crowd had long been fed up with Nala's behavior. Hearing Su Mei's call, they all eagerly stepped forward, wanting to pull Nala away.
"What are you doing!" Nala angrily pushed away the people around her and then lay directly on the ground, starting to roll around and throw a fit. "There's no justice! Murder! Robbery!"
"You bunch of beggars, why should I give the money I worked so hard to earn to you people for nothing! You're all robbers! You're all bandits!"
Nala cried and shouted while rolling around, getting her clothes all dirty.
"Oh... it's really infuriating! Why is my life so bitter! To encounter a bunch of robbers like you!"
