255: I was so blind!
Lei Ying also took a step forward. Although she didn't speak, her cold and resolute gaze exerted immense invisible pressure on the Captain.
The guard beside this Silver-haired Girl appeared extraordinary, which indirectly confirmed that the girl's identity was likely not simple.
Among the surrounding passengers, some began to cry out, "Let her try! Captain! Anyway... anyway, there's no other way!"
"Exactly! Treat a dead horse as if it were a living one!"
"We beg of you!"
The Captain's expression shifted uncertainly, sweat trickling down his sideburns.
He looked at the despairing First Officer and Flight Attendants, then at the terrified passengers, and finally, his gaze fixed on Lei Jun's face.
From beginning to end, this young girl's eyes held no fear, only a heart-stopping calm and a confidence that bordered on arrogance.
In this life-or-death moment, this confidence strangely gave off a... reliable feeling?
He recalled her precise fault diagnosis just now, her companion's testimony, her extraordinary guard, and the license she held... Perhaps she really did have some exceptional abilities?
Perhaps this was the only chance for survival?
Time seemed to freeze.
Every second felt as long as a year. Another violent jolt of the plane snapped the Captain back to his senses.
He stared intently into Lei Jun's eyes and squeezed out a few words from between his teeth: "Are you... truly certain?"
Lei Jun nodded without hesitation, her gaze not wavering in the slightest. "I am. Let me do it."
The Captain squeezed his eyes shut. When he opened them again, they were bloodshot with a sense of burning his bridges and a sliver of desperate hope.
He nodded heavily, his voice hoarse. "Fine! I'll believe you this once! Take her to the cockpit!"
"Captain!" the Flight Attendant tried to say something more.
"Execute the order!" the Captain growled.
This was the most difficult, and possibly the most correct, decision he could make right now... Inside the cockpit, the atmosphere was tense to the extreme.
Various alarm lights flashed, and the instrument readings were chaotic. Lei Jun quickly sat in the Captain's seat, while Lei Ying stood behind and to her side, in a position where she could observe the instruments without interfering with the operations.
The First Officer sat in the co-pilot's seat, while the Captain stood behind Lei Jun's seat, watching tensely.
The moment Lei Jun sat down, her entire aura underwent a sudden change.
The absolute focus and sense of control belonging to a top-tier pilot flowed out naturally. Her gaze quickly swept across all the instruments and screens, her hands resting lightly and steadily on the control yoke and throttle, as if they were an extension of her body.
"Report current altitude, speed, heading, remaining fuel, and confirm the fault alarm list." Lei Jun's voice was calm without a hint of emotion, the tone of a professional pilot's command.
The First Officer subconsciously rattled off a string of data.
The Captain supplemented the main fault indicators from the side.
As Lei Jun listened, her brain processed the information at a speed far exceeding that of a computer. Combined with the intuition granted by her God-level Piloting Skill, she quickly formulated a response strategy.
The failure was indeed as she had expected—a complex, multi-layered problem for which conventional methods were almost useless.
"Disengage the automatic control system and switch to full manual backup mode. Maintain the current heading; I need two minutes to establish a new flight attitude balance."
Lei Jun began issuing commands while her hands started a series of precise operations, accurate down to the millimeter.
Pushing and pulling the yoke, adjusting the throttle, stepping on the rudder... her movements were as fluid as flowing water, without the slightest hesitation.
The First Officer and the Captain were shocked to find that under Lei Jun's control, the plane, which had been shaking violently and was difficult to manage, actually began to stabilize in an incredible way!
Although there was still some turbulence, the out-of-control pitching and rolling trends were suppressed!
She seemed able to predict every unstable tendency of the aircraft and counteract it before it even happened.
What level of exquisite micro-management and superhuman perception did this require! The Captain asked himself—even if the plane were perfectly intact, he wouldn't be able to achieve such delicate and smooth control!
This girl... just who was she!
"Contact the nearest landable airport, report our situation and intentions. Request priority landing rights and emergency rescue on standby." Lei Jun continued to command, her eyes fixed on the front and the instruments.
"Yes!" The First Officer, having no more doubts, immediately picked up the radio to begin contact.
The time that followed was both tense and shocking for the Captain and First Officer in the cockpit.
They witnessed firsthand a flight performance that could be called a miracle.
Lei Jun maneuvered the partially out-of-control large airliner like she was taming a wild horse, completing complex heading adjustments, altitude descents, and speed control at ten thousand meters.
Using only the remaining effective control surfaces, she compensated for the system's defects through extremely clever trimming and power management.
Faced with sudden turbulence, she could sense it in advance and respond perfectly.
The flashing alarms on the instrument panel seemed to be completely within her control and understanding, no longer able to cause panic.
Standard approach procedures that would normally take at least twenty minutes were compressed to ten minutes under Lei Jun's hands, and the flight was exceptionally smooth.
When the airport runway appeared in their field of vision, the First Officer and the Captain were almost moved to tears of joy.
The most critical landing phase arrived.
The landing gear was successfully lowered.
Concentrating fully, Lei Jun manipulated the plane to align with the runway centerline, constantly fine-tuning its attitude and speed.
Crosswinds, the slight yawing tendency caused by the remaining faults, landing weight... all these factors merged in her mind into a precise stream of data and operational commands.
"Reduce throttle slightly... pull back on the yoke... steady..."
She muttered the operational essentials to herself, her voice so steady it was heart-shaking.
The aircraft wheels touched the ground lightly, with almost no felt impact, as smooth as an ordinary landing!
Immediately after, the thrust reversers opened, the spoilers rose, and the plane decelerated steadily as it rolled down the runway.
When the plane came to a complete stop at the designated isolated gate and the engines were shut down, the cockpit was silent, save for the sound of ragged breathing.
Success!
They had survived!
The next second, deafening cheers, cries, and applause erupted from the cabin!
The immense joy of surviving a disaster overwhelmed everyone.
The Captain and First Officer slumped in their seats, their bodies drenched in sweat, but their faces were filled with unbelievable ecstasy and relief.
They looked at Lei Jun, who was still calmly unbuckling her seatbelt and checking the final instruments. Their eyes were filled with unparalleled admiration, gratitude, and deep lingering fear!
If they hadn't believed her then... The Captain struggled to stand up, bowed deeply to Lei Jun, and said in a choked voice, "Thank... thank you! You saved everyone! Including me! I'm sorry... I apologize for my previous doubts! I... I truly have eyes but cannot see!"
The First Officer and the Flight Attendant who had followed them in also bowed to Lei Jun one after another, the Flight Attendant's face covered in tears.
