336: People came to greet
The courtyard was deathly silent, with only Ms. Lei Jun's clear and powerful voice flowing through the air.
Everyone present was deeply moved by her words.
There was no condescending preaching, only heartfelt admonition and the wisdom of one who had seen through the world.
Su Cha tightly gripped Pinya's hand, while Pinya's face was covered in tears.
Atapong and Nala leaned against each other, their faces showing both shame and a rekindled hope for life.
Songphong couldn't stop nodding his head.
After a few seconds, someone—it was unclear who—started clapping.
It began sporadically, then quickly merged into a wave, becoming enthusiastic and sustained.
"Well said! That was beautifully said!"
"How profound! Ms. Lei's words truly spoke to my heart!"
"Not gambling is winning... Good! What powerful words! That's the ultimate truth!"
"Stay away from gambling, cherish those in front of you... Yes, exactly right!"
Atapong clapped with all his might until his hands were red. He looked at Ms. Lei Jun, his eyes filled with gratitude and respect.
"Ms. Lei, thank you! Thank you! You didn't just save me; you saved our whole family! If I, Atapong, ever touch a card again, may I be struck by lightning!"
Nala also thanked her repeatedly.
Ms. Lei Jun nodded slightly.
Intimidation, demonstration, reasoning, and emotional appeal—all linked together. It seemed the effect was quite good.
She wasn't someone who enjoyed preaching, but there were things that needed to be said when the time was right, especially to Su Cha's family and those around her who might be influenced by this evil path.
Just then, a rhythmic sound of footsteps and the sound of car engines shutting off came from outside the courtyard.
Immediately after, a tall man in a crisp military uniform walked in, followed by a dozen soldiers also in uniform, each standing tall with an imposing presence.
The applause in the courtyard stopped instantly. Everyone froze, looking at these sudden newcomers in confusion.
Atapong's heart skipped a beat. Had he offended someone through his past gambling who was now coming for him?
He instinctively shielded Nala and asked nervously, "Who are you? What do you want?"
Su Cha also quickly pulled Pinya back, watching these people warily.
Wenchalong's legs went weak with fear.
The man leading the group ignored Atapong and walked straight to Ms. Lei Jun. He stopped respectfully and snapped a standard military salute. His tone was incredibly deferential: "Distinguished Ms. Lei Jun, I am Chai, Captain of the Thailand Royal Guard. I have come by the order of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn to escort you to the palace!"
"The King?"
These words were like a thunderclap exploding in everyone's minds. The courtyard fell into a dead silence.
Atapong's mouth hung open, his eyes wide as saucers.
Ms. Lei Jun actually had the King of Thailand send people to fetch her personally? This was simply unbelievable!
What kind of status must someone have to be treated so solemnly by the King?
He had thought he'd recognized the gap between them earlier, but now he realized the distance between himself and Ms. Lei Jun was wider than the sky!
Nala was also stunned, murmuring, "The King of Thailand... sent people to fetch Ms. Lei..."
She used to think Ms. Lei Jun looked like a vixen and held a grudge against her. Now she understood that her petty thoughts were like a clown's antics in the face of someone with Ms. Lei Jun's status.
She instinctively tugged at Atapong's sleeve, signaling him not to say anything reckless.
Su Cha and Pinya looked at each other, both seeing the shock in the other's eyes.
Su Cha thought to himself, Ms. Lei Jun actually has such an identity? To have a foreign king send people to welcome her personally—this is too incredible!
Pinya even covered her mouth, afraid she might scream out loud.
Knowing someone like Ms. Lei Jun was truly a blessing for their family.
Wenchalong slumped directly onto the ground in fear, muttering repeatedly, "The King... it's actually the King sending people to fetch her..."
The most important person he'd ever met was the village chief. Where would he have ever seen such a display?
He finally understood that Ms. Lei Jun was no ordinary person; he had truly been blind to her greatness before.
Songphong was also dumbfounded, not even noticing when the cigarette in his hand fell to the ground.
He had lived most of his life and had never heard of any Dragon Country person who could have their King personally send people to welcome them.
Just what was Ms. Lei Jun's background?
Although Su Qing and Su Ya were also surprised, they remained relatively composed.
Having followed Ms. Lei Jun for so long, they knew she had many unknown abilities and identities. They just hadn't expected her to receive such courtesy from the King.
Ms. Lei is truly amazing. I must work even harder as her housekeeper to live up to her trust.
Lei Ying's gaze instantly became alert. Her eyes quickly scanned Chai and the soldiers behind him, carefully checking the surroundings to ensure there were no security risks.
Even though these people were here to welcome Ms. Lei Jun, her duty was to protect her safety, and she couldn't overlook any potential danger.
Ms. Lei Jun looked at Chai with an expressionless face.
She had known the King would send someone. When the King called earlier, he had already mentioned he would personally welcome her.
"Understood."
She gave a faint response.
Seeing how calm Ms. Lei Jun was, Chai's respect for her grew even deeper.
His Majesty the King had long ago instructed him that Ms. Lei Jun was his most distinguished guest and must be treated with the utmost respect and not the slightest neglect.
He saluted again: "Ms. Lei Jun, the vehicles are ready outside. Please step into the car."
Ms. Lei Jun nodded and turned to Su Cha's family and Atapong's group. "I have matters to attend to. Live your lives well and remember what was said today: stay away from gambling."
"Yes, yes, yes! Please rest assured, Ms. Lei! We will definitely remember your words!" Atapong nodded quickly, his tone incredibly respectful.
Su Cha also hurriedly said, "Ms. Lei, have a safe journey! We will live well and won't let you down."
Ms. Lei Jun said no more and turned to Su Qing and Su Ya. "Su Qing, Su Ya, come with me."
"Yes, Miss Lei Jun," Su Qing and Su Ya replied quickly and followed her.
Lei Ying followed closely behind, nodding to Chai to signal him to lead the way.
Chai didn't dare dawdle and quickly turned, respectfully leading Ms. Lei Jun out of the courtyard.
The crowd watched Ms. Lei Jun's departing figure and the Royal Guard soldiers following her, unable to snap out of it for a long time.
Only when Ms. Lei Jun's figure disappeared through the gate did Atapong slowly breathe a sigh of relief and murmur, "Ms. Lei... is truly incredible... we were really blind to her greatness..."
Nala also nodded. "Yes, we can't be like we were before. We must work hard and live an honest life to be worthy of Ms. Lei's guidance."
As Ms. Lei Jun walked out of the courtyard, she saw a row of black luxury sedans parked outside, along with several military off-road vehicles, all bearing the royal emblem of Thailand.
