232: I'd like to see who dares to fire.

The scene instantly became extremely tense, thick with the smell of gunpowder.

Over a dozen guns were pointed at the few people inside the small interrogation room; any sudden movement could trigger a bloody conflict.

Tony, Qin Yu, and the others, who had just begun to relax, felt their hearts leap into their throats again!

They were breaking out in a cold sweat for Lei Ying!

So many police officers, so many guns—what if one of them accidentally fired out of nervousness?

No matter how powerful Lei Ying was, could she handle this many people?

Would Sister Lei be in danger?

Seeing the reinforcements arrive, and especially seeing so many guns pointed at Lei Ying, Deputy Director Liu's intense pain and humiliation transformed into even more crazed malice and confidence.

Enduring the piercing pain, he pointed at Lei Ying with his still-mobile left hand and roared at the top of his lungs.

"What are you waiting for? Fire! Shoot this thug dead! She attacked a police officer! She snatched a gun! She even tried to kill me! Fire already!!!"

He hated Lei Ying to the core, and he hated Lei Jun, who had caused all this, even more.

All he wanted now was for these two women to die right in front of him!

The police officers who had rushed in looked at each other. Seeing Deputy Director Liu's miserable state and then looking at Lei Ying, who stood holding a gun, fearless despite the many muzzles pointed at her, they hesitated for a moment.

Shoot her dead?

This was no small matter; it required clear judgment and orders.

An older officer tentatively shouted at Lei Ying, "Drop your weapon! Now! Or we really will fire!"

At this critical, hair-trigger moment, Lei Ying moved.

Instead of putting down her gun, she calmly reached into the inner pocket of her jacket with her free left hand and pulled out a black-covered ID.

She didn't lower her gun but held the ID up high, clearly displaying the striking national emblem on the cover and the gold-embossed words "National Special Service Bureau" below it for all the officers to see.

"National Special Service Bureau, Bureau 749, Special Service Consultant, Lei Ying."

"Let's see who dares to fire!!!"

The words "Bureau 749" exploded in the minds of all the police officers!

The hands of the officers who had rushed in trembled violently; they were in disbelief!

Several of them subconsciously lowered their muzzles.

What?

Bureau 749?

That legendary, mysterious department!

Bureau 749, which handled special and highly classified incidents!

This woman who had shot and wounded Deputy Director Liu was actually a Special Service Consultant from Bureau 749!

In an instant, many questions seemed to find their answers in everyone's minds.

Why were her skills so terrifying?

Why did she dare to fire a gun inside a police station? Why was she fearless in the face of so many guns? If she really was from Bureau 749, then all of this... seemed to make sense!

People from that department had extremely high authority, a mysterious operating style, and often possessed great discretionary power.

It wasn't strange for them to use firearms while enforcing the law or even to strike preemptively in certain extreme situations.

The officers exchanged glances, seeing the shock and hesitation in each other's eyes.

They wouldn't dare to fire their guns now, no matter what.

If the other party really was from Bureau 749 and they shot her, the consequences would be unimaginable!

Forget about low-ranking officers like them; even the entire Municipal Bureau probably couldn't withstand the fallout!

But Deputy Director Liu was still screaming, "It's fake! Her ID must be fake! How could someone from Bureau 749 end up in a small place like ours? And hanging out with a bunch of tourists involved in a brawl? She must be an impostor! Fire! I'll take responsibility if anything happens!"

Deputy Director Liu simply refused to believe it—he couldn't believe it!

If Lei Ying really was from Bureau 749, then everything he had done today—

favoring his nephew, twisting the facts, attempting to extract a confession through torture, and even drawing his gun first to threaten them—would be his downfall!

Not only would his career be over, but he would also likely face severe legal sanctions!

He had to insist that she was a fake to have even the slightest chance of turning the tables!

The police officers were even more conflicted now.

They looked at the maddened Deputy Director Liu, whose wrist wouldn't stop bleeding, and then at the dignified Lei Ying, who was holding up her ID.

Deputy Director Liu said it was fake, but what if... what if it was real? How could low-level soldiers like them dare to gamble on that?

Cold sweat began to roll down the older officer's forehead.

He hesitated for a moment and whispered to a young officer nearby, "Quick! Call Director Wang! He's out on a mission; get him back here immediately! Also... report this to the Sub-bureau duty office!"

Then he turned to Lei Ying, his tone much softer but still cautious. "Comrade... Comrade Lei Ying, please put down the gun first, okay? We need to verify your identity. If it's authentic, we will certainly handle this fairly."

Lei Ying glanced at him. She didn't put the gun down, but she lowered the muzzle slightly so it was no longer pointing directly at anyone, signaling that she had no immediate intention to attack.

She said coldly, "My ID is right here; you can verify it. But until then, if anyone makes an aggressive move, I will consider it a threat and take necessary measures."

Her attitude was tough and professional, exactly like someone on a special mission, which made the officers believe her even more.

Director Wang was leading a team to handle another dispute. When he received the emergency call from the station, he thought he had misheard.

"What? Deputy Director Liu was shot and wounded? In our station? And the other party is a woman? Claiming to be from Bureau 749?"

Holding his phone, Director Wang was completely stunned; his mind couldn't process the information for a moment.

Once he digested this incredible news, a surge of anger and deep worry rose in his heart simultaneously.

That Deputy Director Liu!

He knew nothing but how to cause trouble all day long!

Relying on his connections in the city, he had become increasingly lawless. Director Wang had long heard about his collusion with that rascal nephew of his and the shady things they did over at Lovers Cape, but he had been unable to move against him due to a lack of solid evidence and the man's backing.

Now, look at this—he had actually provoked someone who was likely from Bureau 749?

And it had even escalated to a shooting?

Director Wang's first thought wasn't concern for Deputy Director Liu's injury, but that an opportunity had arrived!

If the other party really was from Bureau 749, this was a god-given opportunity to take down the cancer that was Deputy Director Liu!

But at the same time, he was incredibly nervous and worried.

If this wasn't handled properly and someone from Bureau 749 was mistreated or if something happened to them in their station, all the station's leadership, including himself, would be held accountable!

He immediately stopped what he was doing and rushed back to the station in a panic, his mind racing with various possibilities and contingency plans... Upon returning to the station, Director Wang saw the officers surrounding the interrogation room and heard the faint groans coming from inside.

He pushed through the crowd and entered. The first thing he saw was Deputy Director Liu, clutching his simply bandaged wrist, his face pale as a sheet, gasping in pain.

"Old Wang! Old Wang, you're finally back!" As soon as Deputy Director Liu saw Director Wang, it was like seeing a savior. Ignoring the pain, he struggled to point his left hand at Lei Ying, his voice filled with tears and immense malice.
