338: Overnight

Su Han came back to his senses, looked at Bi Yao who was leaning on his shoulder, and said softly, "I was thinking about that great battle..."

His voice was low.

Bi Yao felt the change in his mood and gently held his hand.

The night wind of the mountain valley blew past, the bonfire's flames flickered gently, illuminating their faces, which were tired yet held a hint of contentment.

Su Han gazed at the dancing flames, his thoughts drifting far away.

He turned his head, looked at Bi Yao, his eyes full of deep affection.

Bi Yao leaned closer to Su Han.

The night deepened, the sound of insects in the mountain valley seemed to quiet down, and occasionally a gust of night wind blew through, rustling the leaves.

Su Han got up, added some firewood to the bonfire, and sparks flew.

"Tomorrow we need to go out and look around. We don't know if there's anything else edible in this mountain valley. Our dry rations won't last much longer."

Bi Yao nodded, "I'll go with you too. More people means more strength."

Su Han was about to refuse, but seeing Bi Yao's determined gaze, he swallowed his words.

"Alright then, but if you feel uncomfortable, you must tell me immediately."

Bi Yao smiled, "Don't worry, I'm not that fragile."

The two sat by the bonfire for a while, then went into the temporary shelter they had built.

The shelter was a bit simple, with dry grass Su Han had found spread on the ground. Although not soft, it was enough to allow them to sleep peacefully on this weary night.

Su Han let Bi Yao sleep inside, while he lay near the entrance; he wanted to protect Bi Yao.

The next day, just as dawn broke, Su Han woke up.

He looked at Bi Yao, who was still sound asleep, his eyes gentle.

He quietly got up, walked out of the shelter, and stretched.

The morning mountain valley was filled with a thin layer of mist, the air so fresh it was intoxicating.

Su Han took a deep breath and began to exercise his body, preparing for the search that was about to begin.

After a while, Bi Yao also woke up.

She walked out of the shelter and saw Su Han practicing his sword techniques, each move carrying a sharp momentum.

Su Han noticed Bi Yao's gaze, sheathed his sword, and walked over to her side, "Did you sleep well?"

Bi Yao nodded, "Quite well. This is the most peaceful sleep I've had in a while."

After eating some dry rations, the two set off.

They walked along the stream towards the depths of the mountain valley, paying attention to their surroundings along the way.

Su Han walked in front, cautiously observing the surroundings, while Bi Yao followed behind him, carefully looking at the plants by the roadside, hoping to find some edible wild vegetables.

After walking for a while, Su Han spotted a wild rabbit.

He gestured to Bi Yao, signaling her to stay quiet, and then quietly approached the rabbit.

Just as he was about to get close to the rabbit, it seemed to sense danger and ran off.

Su Han was quick-witted; he picked up a stone from the ground and threw it at the rabbit.

The stone hit the rabbit squarely, and it fell to the ground, struggled a few times, and then stopped moving.

Bi Yao ran over happily, "Su Han, you're amazing!"

Su Han smiled as he picked up the rabbit, "We'll have meat tonight."

The two continued forward and found some more unknown wild vegetables, which looked fresh and delicious.

Around noon, the sun hung high in the sky, and the mountain valley gradually grew warmer.

Su Han and Bi Yao found some shade under a tree to rest. They drank some stream water and ate some dry rations.

Bi Yao leaned against Su Han's chest, feeling his warmth.

"Su Han, do you think we'll live like this forever?" Bi Yao asked softly.

Su Han thought for a moment, "Perhaps. If we can keep living so peacefully, I'll be content.

But I know the martial world won't always be peaceful. However, no matter what, I will protect you."

After resting, the two continued their search.

They found some more wild fruits. Although some were sour, in this mountain valley with scarce resources, they were a rare treat.

In the evening, they returned to their temporary shelter with their harvest.

Su Han cleaned the wild rabbit and roasted it over the bonfire.

Soon, the aroma of roasted rabbit meat spread. Bi Yao washed the wild vegetables and simply boiled them with stream water.

The two sat around the bonfire, enjoying this hard-earned dinner.

At night, the mountain valley returned to tranquility.

Su Han and Bi Yao lay in the shelter, listening to the sound of insects outside, feeling each other's presence.

"Su Han, I had a very happy day today."

Bi Yao said in the darkness. (End of chapter)
