513: Leaving the Bleeding Cave
For a long time, Su Han still had no clue.
“Since that’s the case…”
Su Han suddenly stood up, his eyes instantly becoming sharp.
“I can’t stay here any longer.”
He wasn't sure if this strange Qi was the source of the illusions, but both illusions had occurred in the Dripping Blood Cave, which was enough to indicate that unknown risks lurked there.
Moreover, Bi Yao was still by his side, and he couldn't gamble her safety on “whether the next time would be safe.”
Bi Yao saw Su Han suddenly stand up, and the worry on her face deepened a few shades. She also stood up, quickly walked to Su Han’s side, and gently tugged his sleeve: “Su Han, what’s wrong? Is there a problem in the cave?”
She could feel Su Han’s hand was colder than before, and even the surrounding air seemed to tighten, which made her subconsciously clench Su Han’s sleeve, afraid that something unexpected might happen.
Su Han looked down at Bi Yao, quickly reining in the vigilance in his eyes, trying to make his tone sound calm: “It’s not advisable to stay here long; let’s leave.”
He didn’t dare mention the illusions, nor did he bring up that strange Qi — Bi Yao was already meticulous, and if she knew he had fallen into bizarre illusions twice, she would worry so much she wouldn't sleep.
The most important thing now was to take her out of the Dripping Blood Cave first, and once they reached a safe place, he would slowly investigate the source of that Qi.
Although Bi Yao had doubts, she had always trusted Su Han. Seeing his serious expression, she didn’t press further, but just nodded gently, reaching out to pick up the jacket placed on the stone platform — it was the one Su Han had put on her earlier, and she had neatly folded it and placed it aside when she woke up.
She handed the jacket to Su Han and said softly: “Then let’s go now. You haven’t put on your jacket yet. It’s windy outside; don’t catch a cold.”
Su Han took the jacket but didn’t put it on immediately. Instead, he turned and draped it back over Bi Yao’s shoulders, carefully pulling up her collar: “You’re more afraid of the cold than I am. My Physique is good; it’s fine.”
He remembered that the last time they encountered cold mist in the mountains, Bi Yao sneezed after only being in the wind for a while. This time, leaving the Dripping Blood Cave meant passing through a shaded forest, so he had to protect Bi Yao first.
Bi Yao pursed her lips and didn’t decline, merely reaching out and taking Su Han’s hand, her fingertips gently squeezing his palm: “Then let’s walk slowly. If you feel cold, just tell me.”
She knew Su Han always put his own needs last, so she specifically added this reminder, afraid he would endure it without saying anything.
Su Han held Bi Yao’s hand and walked cautiously towards the exit of the Dripping Blood Cave.
His footsteps were extremely light; with every step, he sensed the movements around him — although that strange Qi was faint, it was like an invisible thread, faintly following behind, making him dare not relax even for a moment.
The water droplets on the cave wall were still “dripping,” but now, they sounded like some kind of countdown, urging him to quickly take Bi Yao away.
When they were almost at the cave entrance, Su Han stopped and first peered outside.
The mountain forest outside the cave was brightly lit by the sun, morning dew still hung on the branches, and a few crisp bird calls came from a distance. It looked no different from usual.
But he didn’t relax his guard. Instead, he pulled out a protective jade pendant from his Storage Pouch and placed it in Bi Yao’s hand:
“Wear this. If you encounter anything unusual, crush it, and I’ll come over immediately.”
This jade pendant was one he had refined earlier, with a simple communication Formation carved inside. As long as Bi Yao crushed it, he would be able to sense it no matter where he was.
Bi Yao took the jade pendant, obediently tied it to her waist, and looked up at Su Han with a smile:
“I know, don’t worry, I won’t wander off.”
Her smile was still sweet, but with a hint of seriousness — she knew Su Han gave her the protective jade pendant because he was worried about her safety, so she would take good care of it and not cause him trouble.
Su Han looked at the seriousness in her eyes, and the unease in his heart faded a little more.
He held Bi Yao’s hand and walked out of the Dripping Blood Cave step by step.
As soon as he stepped outside, he clearly felt that the strange Qi behind him suddenly ceased, as if blocked by the cave wall, no longer perceptible.
This further confirmed that the problem must lie within the Dripping Blood Cave itself, perhaps something hidden within the cave walls, or some energy within the cave at work.
“Let’s go to the bamboo forest ahead first. The view there is open, and it’s easier to observe the surroundings.”
Su Han pointed to a dense bamboo forest not far away and said to Bi Yao.
He remembered there was a large rock next to that bamboo forest, which could shield them from wind and rain and also overlook the surrounding movements, making it a good temporary resting place.
Bi Yao looked in the direction he pointed, nodded, and followed closely behind him: “Okay, I’ll listen to you.”
She could feel Su Han’s steps were a bit faster than before, knowing he wanted to leave the vicinity of the Dripping Blood Cave as soon as possible, so she also quickened her pace, trying not to slow him down.
Walking on the mountain path, Su Han’s gaze constantly scanned the surroundings, his right hand quietly resting on the sword at his waist — it was the Qinggang sword he had personally refined after his Transmigration. Although its grade wasn’t high, it was sufficient to deal with ordinary dangers.
He dared not relax in the slightest; the two illusions just now had already warned him. If there truly was something behind the scenes watching him, it would surely make a move after he left the Dripping Blood Cave.
Seeing him constantly vigilant of his surroundings, Bi Yao said softly: “Su Han, don’t be too tense. We’ve already left the Dripping Blood Cave; maybe the danger is gone.”
She knew Su Han was worried about her, but looking at his tense profile, she also felt distressed and wanted to persuade him to relax a little.
Su Han turned his head and smiled at Bi Yao, but his eyes still didn’t leave the surrounding plants: “I’m fine, just being a bit more careful; it never hurts.” (End of chapter)
