561: Lu Xueqi (38)
The two women fought hard to buy Su Han precious time.
Su Han was fully focused, his hand Seals changing faster and faster.
Golden, green, blue, crimson, and yellow spiritual lights circulated at his fingertips, gradually condensing into a complex and profound rune.
His face was pale, and sweat beaded on his forehead; this "Five Elements Demonic Seal" consumed an enormous amount of Divine Sense and spiritual power.
Finally, the rune took shape!
"Go!"
Su Han shouted, sending the rune, which shimmered with five-colored light, towards the broken Bixi stone pillar!
The rune landed on the fractured part, glowing brightly, and temporarily condensed into a phantom, energy-composed stone pillar, mending the broken section!
Buzz—!
The nine stone pillars (including the phantom one) vibrated simultaneously, emitting a hum.
The dim runes on the altar suddenly lit up, their light connecting into a net, suppressing the surging black Qi!
The central black Qi let out an unwilling shriek, its volume rapidly shrinking, and the suction force suddenly vanished.
The blurry face twisted, then slowly dissipated.
The altar temporarily stabilized.
"It succeeded?"
Bi Yao gasped, looking at the now calm altar, still feeling a lingering fear.
Su Han let out a long breath, wiped the sweat from his forehead, and felt a wave of exhaustion.
"It's only temporarily stable; that Five Elements Demonic Seal won't last long. We must quickly find a way to completely repair the Seal or resolve this hidden danger."
He walked to the edge of the altar, looking at the black Qi in the center, which, though suppressed, was still slowly rotating.
The object within the black Qi was now a bit clearer, appearing to be a fragment of a broken token, covered in ancient patterns.
That was the true body that summoned the netherworld token, very likely the core part of a certain Netherworld Dao relic.
"This thing remaining here will always be a disaster. But with our current strength, we can't destroy it, and even taking it away might cause unforeseen consequences."
Lu Xueqi said coldly, looking at the fragment.
Su Han nodded.
"This is not a place to linger. Our main objective for this trip is to find Spirit Medicine to treat your injuries and to investigate the secrets of Liubo Mountain. The matter of this Seal needs to be planned carefully."
He took a deep look at the altar and the black fragment, imprinting this place firmly in his mind.
Perhaps the secrets of Liubo Mountain were far more complex and dangerous than they had imagined.
After a brief rest to recover some spiritual power, the three quickly left the eerie ruins and continued towards the island's center, the towering main peak that reached into the clouds.
What they didn't know was that shortly after they left, a faint shadow slowly emerged from a corner of the ruins, watching the direction they departed, letting out an almost inaudible chuckle, then dissipating into the air.
The mists of Liubo Mountain had only just begun to part.
The real challenges, perhaps, still awaited them ahead.
The jungle grew denser, ancient trees reaching to the sky, blocking out the sun, making the light dim.
Beneath their feet were thick layers of fallen leaves, soft to the touch, and the air was filled with a mixture of decay and a strange floral scent.
Various never-before-seen plants were intertwined, some carnivorous flowers opening their huge maws, some vines lurking like venomous snakes.
There were even some almost transparent ghost mushrooms that would spray hallucinogenic spores if approached too closely.
Fortunately, the three had formidable cultivation and keen Divine Sense, always able to avoid these dangers in advance.
But the feeling of being watched constantly lingered in their hearts.
"It's too quiet in this mountain; besides plants, there are almost no living creatures."
Bi Yao whispered, vigilantly looking around.
"Perhaps it's due to the Fuhai Python's aura from earlier, or perhaps... there's something in this mountain itself that makes living beings fear it."
Su Han said, carefully using his qingming sword to clear the thorny bushes blocking their path.
Suddenly, he stopped, squatted down, and looked at the ground.
On the soft humus, there was a clear footprint.
It wasn't a human footprint, but a three-toed claw print, huge and deep, indicating that the creature that left it was massive and seemed to have passed by not long ago.
"Something is active nearby."
Lu Xueqi also saw the footprint, her tianya divine sword slightly raised.
The three became even more cautious, following the direction of the footprints, proceeding carefully.
After passing through a dense thicket of strange trees, a small clearing appeared ahead.
In the clearing, the sight made them gasp.
Several massive Yao Beast skeletons lay scattered on the ground, their flesh already gnawed clean, leaving only stark white bone frames.
From the shape of the skeletons, some resembled giant wild boars, while others were like saber-toothed tiger-like beasts.
And in the center of the clearing, a monster over three zhang long was gnawing on the last bit of leftover meat.
The monster resembled a lizard but had a bird-like head, covered in dark red scales, a row of sharp bone spurs on its back, and a long tail that lashed like a steel whip.
The Demonic Qi it emitted, though not as immense as the Fuhai Python's earlier, was exceptionally fierce, at least at the Late Stage Golden Core level!
Seeming to sense the unfamiliar aura, the monster suddenly raised its head, its vertical pupils cruelly fixated on Su Han and the two women.
It dropped the remains by its mouth, let out a low roar, revealing its blood-stained fangs. (End of Chapter)
