494: burn!

As the voice fell, the enormous crack began to slowly contract and close.

Evidently, after its Gui Xu Projection was utterly destroyed, the Gui Xu Will temporarily lost its fulcrum for large-scale intervention in this place, and coupled with its apprehension towards Su Han's strange Chaos power, it chose to temporarily retreat.

However, this by no means signified an end, but rather the dead calm before an even more terrifying storm.

Su Han stared intently at the closing crack until it completely vanished, and the sky returned to its original color—though still scarred and broken from the energy storm, the suffocating Gui Xu pressure finally dissipated.

He knew that the real trouble was only just beginning.

He had not only exposed himself but possibly also this world, which had not yet recovered from the Doomsday Tide, to an unimaginably terrifying enemy.

And all of this was for his own salvation, and for the salvation of the land beneath his feet.

“Hoo…”

He let out a long breath, tinged with sparks and blood foam, and as his taut nerves relaxed slightly, he immediately felt the world spin, and his vision began to blur and darken.

But he knew he absolutely could not collapse now.

Although the battle was temporarily over, the mess left behind was far from cleaned up.

He forced himself to stay alert, his gaze sweeping over the land below.

The land was ravaged, the earth already devastated by the Doomsday Tide, now further marked by countless enormous craters, traces of flowing lava, and desolate, gray dead zones eroded by the power of annihilation.

Some weaker decaying corpses and skeletons had been reduced to dust in the aftershocks of the previous battle, but many powerful undead creatures still lingered in the distance.

They were deterred by the Gui Xu aura and the power of the Chaotic Source Fire, not daring to approach, but the Soul fires in their eyes flickered, clearly indicating they had not given up their greed for the living.

Further away, the surviving warriors now looked at the blood-soaked figure standing in the sky with a gaze mixed with awe, fear, bewilderment, and a glimmer of hope.

It was he who had blocked that world-destroying dark singularity.

It was he who had defeated that Gui Xu existence, whose mere Projection had brought despair.

But the power he wielded was also full of destruction and ill omen; the gray desolation, the pure gold lava, the golden-red flames—each one made one’s Soul tremble.

Was he a savior?

Or another, even more terrifying… Devil King?

Su Han paid no attention to those gazes; his sight fell upon the huge dark remnants that were still slightly writhing, the residue left after the Gui Xu Projection had been “melted.”

These were the “dregs” left after highly condensed Gui Xu energy was decomposed by the Chaotic Source Fire; although they had lost their activity, they still emitted a strong aura of decay and destruction, and if left unchecked, they would pollute large areas of land and give rise to even more terrifying monsters.

He strenuously raised his hand, and the Nirvana Golden Flame in his palm flickered again, but it was much weaker than before.

“Burn!”

He let out a low shout and flicked his finger.

Thin, golden-red lines of fire shot out, precisely landing on those large pieces of dark remnants.

Sizzle, sizzle…

The flames spread, slowly but steadily incinerating these dangerous residues, transforming them into the purest energy particles that dissipated into the heavens and earth.

This process was slow; given Su Han's current state, he could no longer massively activate the Chaotic Source Fire.

After completing this necessary task, he could no longer hold on; his body went limp, and he fell from mid-air.

“My Lord!”

A dark figure swiftly swooped in, carefully catching him before he hit the ground.

It was the necromancer, who now looked at Su Han with immense fanaticism and awe in his eyes.

Su Han barely maintained a shred of consciousness, speaking weakly, his voice hoarse:

“Clean… the battlefield… be vigilant… for residual undead…”

After speaking, he could no longer resist the surging darkness; his vision went black, and he completely lost consciousness.

The Chaotic Source Fire within him, even after he fainted, instinctively circulated faintly, slowly repairing his battered body, and at the same time, subtly continuing to transform his everything.

This Pyrrhic victory bought him a moment to breathe, but it also pushed him towards a future that was even more magnificent and even more dangerously terrifying.

The enmity with Gui Xu was already irreconcilable.

And the power of Chaos, while his reliance, might also ultimately consume him.

Everything had only just begun. (End of Chapter)
