342: Daily Life with Baguio (Part 2)
Looking at Bi Yao's sparkling eyes, full of anticipation, Su Han couldn't help but smile and nod, "Okay, then let's bury it next to the camp. Maybe a hawthorn tree will really grow next year."
Bi Yao cheered, immediately got up, found what she considered an excellent spot next to the camp, squatted down, and slowly dug away the soil with her hands.
Su Han watched her busy figure from the side, his eyes full of indulgence. He also squatted down, took the branch from her hand, and helped her dig the pit deeper.
Bi Yao carefully placed the dried hawthorn into the pit, then cupped the soil in her hands, slowly burying it, murmuring as she did so:
"Dried hawthorn, oh dried hawthorn, you must sprout quickly and grow into a big hawthorn tree. Then we can eat hawthorn we grew ourselves every year."
Su Han looked at her serious expression and couldn't help but reach out and gently stroke her head.
Bi Yao looked up, meeting Su Han's gentle gaze. They smiled at each other, the sweetness in their smiles seemingly melting the air around them.
After burying the dried hawthorn, Bi Yao clapped the dirt off her hands and stood up, but she was unsteady and nearly fell.
Su Han was quick to react, pulling her into his arms. Bi Yao's face instantly turned red. Leaning against Su Han's chest, her heart pounded like a drum.
Su Han lowered his head slightly and whispered in her ear, "Be careful, don't fall."
Bi Yao softly hummed in response. They held each other like this for a while, until sparks from the bonfire flew out, crackling and popping, pulling their thoughts back to reality.
Bi Yao broke free from Su Han's embrace and walked somewhat shyly to the bonfire, picking up a branch and poking the fire, trying to hide her embarrassment.
Su Han also walked to her side, picked up the branch with the fish skewered on it, and continued to roast it over the fire, rotating it occasionally to ensure the fish cooked evenly.
The firelight illuminated their faces, casting long shadows that intertwined.
Bi Yao looked at Su Han concentrating on roasting the fish, a warmth welling up in her heart. She quietly leaned closer to Su Han and gently poked his arm with her finger:
"Su Han, what do you think we should name the hawthorn tree when it grows up?"
Su Han thought for a moment, the corner of his mouth curving slightly upward, "Let's call it the 'Yao Su Tree'. Put both your name and mine in it. When we see this tree in the future, it will remind us of the time we spent together."
Hearing this, Bi Yao's face was radiant with a happy smile. She leaned gently on Su Han's shoulder, "That's a really good name, I like it."
The fish was ready. Su Han took the fish off the branch and handed it to Bi Yao, "Try it and see how it turned out this time."
Bi Yao took the fish and took a bite. The tender fish meat melted in her mouth. She narrowed her eyes in satisfaction, "Mmm, it's really delicious. Su Han, your cooking is getting better and better."
Saying this, she tore off a piece of fish and brought it to Su Han's mouth, "You try some too."
Su Han opened his mouth and ate it. They shared the roasted fish bite by bite like this, occasionally their eyes meeting, full of tenderness and love.
After finishing the fish, the night was already deep. The sky was dotted with twinkling stars, like gems embedded in black satin.
Bi Yao stood up, stretched, and looked up at the starry sky, "Su Han, look how many stars there are tonight, they're so beautiful."
Su Han walked to her side and gently held her hand, "Yes, they are beautiful. But in my eyes, you are even more beautiful than the stars."
Bi Yao's cheeks flushed. She gave him a playful glance, "You always say nice things."
But the corner of her mouth couldn't help but turn up, her heart feeling sweet.
They lay side by side on the grass, hands clasped tightly, quietly gazing at the starry sky.
Bi Yao's head rested on Su Han's shoulder, and Su Han's chin lightly touched the top of her head. Occasionally, a gentle breeze blew by, bringing a hint of coolness, but it couldn't disperse the strong love between them.
After an unknown amount of time, Bi Yao's eyelids gradually grew heavy. (End of Chapter)
