526: Lu Xueqi (Part 3)

After leaving the Dripping Blood Cave, I traveled around and didn't make any mortal enemies.

Perhaps... it's related to some of my previous experiences?" He thought of the Heavenly Book in the Dripping Blood Cave and the secrets it might involve, but this matter was too important for him to speak plainly.

Bi Yao interjected, "Shadow Assassins don't care about people, only money. As long as you can afford the price, they'll kill anyone.

It seems someone is willing to pay a hefty sum to take your life." Her tone carried a hint of worry.

Lu Xueqi pondered for a moment, then said, "This matter is strange.

Su Han, you must be careful from now on. These assassins won't necessarily give up if they fail on their first attempt."

Su Han nodded, "I understand, thank you, Junior Sister, for the reminder."

Lu Xueqi looked at Su Han, then at Bi Yao, who was standing intimately beside him. That hint of doubt and an inexplicable emotion rose in her heart once more.

She was silent for a moment before asking, "You... where did you go after leaving the Dripping Blood Cave? Why was there no news of you?

Revered Master and all the other teachers, and... everyone thought something bad had happened to you."

Su Han sighed and briefly recounted how he was randomly teleported a thousand miles away after the Dripping Blood Cave collapsed, then healed his injuries, traveled, and eventually met Bi Yao, only omitting the details of the Heavenly Book and his time with Bi Yao.

Lu Xueqi listened quietly. When she heard Su Han talk about the dangers after the teleportation and the difficulty of recovering from his injuries, her fingertips curled slightly.

When he mentioned 'traveling together' with Bi Yao, her gaze subtly dimmed for an instant.

"So that's how it is," Lu Xueqi said softly, "It's good that you've returned safely. When do you... plan to return to Qingyun Mountain? Revered Master and the others are very worried about you."

Su Han thought for a moment and said, "I originally planned to travel with Bi Yao for a while, then visit old friends in Heyang City, and then return to the mountain to report.

Since I've met Junior Sister here, why don't we travel together? It would be good to have someone to look out for each other." He thought that with Lu Xueqi present, his safety would greatly increase, and he could also let the sect know he was safe sooner.

Lu Xueqi hadn't answered yet, but Bi Yao spoke first. She looked at Lu Xueqi with a smile, her tone carrying a hint of probing: "Yes, Junior Sister Lu, let's go together? It's livelier with more people.

Su Han and I are going to Bijia Mountain to see the scenery. I heard the sunset there is beautiful." As she spoke, she naturally moved a step closer to Su Han.

Lu Xueqi saw Bi Yao's small gesture and felt an inexplicable blockage in her heart.

She wasn't someone who liked crowds, nor was she used to traveling with a demonic sect woman, but looking at Su Han's expectant eyes, the words of refusal reached her lips but turned into: "...Alright. My current investigation is also related to this direction."

She found a reason for herself to travel with them.

Su Han smiled upon hearing this, "That's great!" Bi Yao's eyes flashed with a subtle cunning, and she also smiled, "Welcome, Junior Sister Lu, to join us."

Thus, the journey of two became a journey of three.

The atmosphere on the road ahead became very subtle.

Su Han walked in the middle, with the elegantly aloof Lu Xueqi in white on his left, and the lively Bi Yao in purple on his right.

Both were stunning women, with distinct styles. Walking together, it should have been a pleasing sight, but Su Han felt like he had thorns in his back.

Bi Yao seemed intent on 'asserting her claim,' still approaching Su Han to talk from time to time as before, pointing at wildflowers by the roadside and asking him if they were pretty, or naturally taking out her waterskin and handing it to him.

Whenever this happened, Su Han could feel the chill emanating from Lu Xueqi beside him intensify a little.

Lu Xueqi, on the other hand, always maintained her distance, remaining silent and mostly looking straight ahead.

But when she occasionally looked at Su Han and Bi Yao interacting, her quickly averted gaze and slightly pursed lips revealed that she was not as calm as she appeared on the surface.

She would even, inadvertently, after Bi Yao handed Su Han water, silently offer her own waterskin to Su Han. Although she said nothing, the action clearly carried a stubborn meaning.

Su Han, caught in the middle, felt like his head was twice its normal size.

Even he, no matter how oblivious, vaguely sensed the silent undercurrents between the two women.

He tried to find topics to lighten the mood, but often when he said something to Lu Xueqi, she would only respond with a faint "Mm" or "Yes," while Bi Yao would immediately take over the conversation, chattering on and on, diverting the topic.

When passing a stream, before Su Han could reach out, Bi Yao had already grabbed his arm with a giggle: "Su Han, quickly take me across!" Su Han had no choice but to take her and leap over.

After landing, he subconsciously looked back at Lu Xueqi, only to see that the white figure had already glided across the stream like a light cloud on her own, her robes fluttering, cool and isolated, as if she needed no one's help.

During breaks, Bi Yao would take out exquisite pastries to share, while Lu Xueqi would simply take out her own dry rations and eat them silently.

This strange atmosphere continued until evening, when they finally arrived at a small town at the foot of Bijia Mountain. (End of Chapter)
