351: Palace
Su Han and Bi Yao supported each other, their steps slightly heavy, as they approached the ancient structure that was faintly visible in the mist.
As the distance shortened, the outline of the building became clearer. It was a grand hall built from massive stone blocks, its walls covered in dark green moss, exuding an aura of ancient age.
The hall's main door was ajar, and a faint, eerie light seeped through the gap, appearing particularly strange in this mysterious, mist-shrouded place.
Su Han tightened his grip on his sword, turned to look at Bi Yao, and said softly:
"Stay close to me in a moment. No matter what happens, don't let go of my hand."
Bi Yao's face was pale, and she nodded vigorously, her small hand gripping Su Han's tightly, as if it were her last lifeline.
The two cautiously approached the door. Su Han reached out and slowly pushed open the heavy door.
"Creak—"
A long, muffled sound echoed through the silent space, startling an unknown reverberation.
The scene behind the door gradually unfolded before them. A faint golden mist permeated the hall, casting a mysterious veil over the entire space.
The floor was paved with smooth stone slabs, which were inscribed with strange runes. These runes seemed to shimmer slightly, emitting a weak light.
Huge stone pillars were placed around the hall, carved with various bizarre creatures. Their eyes seemed to be inlaid with gems, glinting with a cold luster in the mist, as if watching everyone who entered this place.
Su Han and Bi Yao slowly stepped into the hall. With each step, their footsteps echoed in the vast space.
Their heartbeats were particularly clear in the silence, as if they were about to leap out of their throats.
Suddenly, Bi Yao felt her foot slip. She looked down and saw that a thin layer of viscous liquid had appeared on the ground at some point, emitting a nauseating smell.
"Su Han, this ground..."
Bi Yao had just opened her mouth, but before she could finish speaking, a low roar suddenly resounded in the hall.
The sound seemed to come from all directions, making their eardrums ache.
Su Han quickly shielded Bi Yao behind him, looking around vigilantly.
He saw several blurry figures gradually emerge from the mist. They were tall and their outlines were distorted, slowly approaching them.
As the figures became clearer, Su Han saw what these creatures looked like.
They were humanoid but had distorted limbs and hideous faces. Their skin was a dark purple, covered in raised bumps, and emitted a suffocating stench.
The creatures' eyes glowed with blood-red light, revealing endless ferocity and greed.
"Be careful, these things are not easy to deal with!"
Su Han gripped his sword tightly, his eyes revealing determination and resolve.
He knew that in the face of this unknown danger, retreating would only plunge them into deeper trouble.
The strange creatures let out sharp roars and lunged at Su Han and Bi Yao.
Su Han swung his sword, meeting the creature at the forefront.
The blade sliced through the air with a hissing sound, colliding with the creature's arm and sending sparks flying.
The creature cried out in pain and roared, swinging its other arm at Su Han.
Su Han's body flickered, easily dodging the attack, and at the same time seized the opportunity to slash a deep wound across the creature's chest.
Black blood gushed from the wound, and the creature's movements immediately slowed down.
But the other creatures showed no sign of retreating; instead, they lunged at them even more frantically.
Bi Yao watched anxiously from the side. She knew she couldn't help Su Han much, but she didn't want to be a burden to him.
She looked around, trying to find a way to help Su Han.
Suddenly, she noticed some strange artifacts placed in the corner of the hall, including a large bronze bell inscribed with mysterious runes.
A thought struck Bi Yao, and she ran towards the bronze bell.
Upon reaching the bell, she used all her strength to push it.
The bronze bell emitted a muffled sound that echoed through the hall. (End of Chapter)
