537: Lu Xueqi (14)

Bi Yao took Su Han's place, sitting by the door, propping her chin.

She watched Su Han quickly fall into a state of semi-Cultivation and semi-sleep on the bed, then looked at Lu Xueqi, who was enveloped in a faint blue light and as ethereal as a celestial being, and her eyes once again became complex.

She recalled the scene last night when Su Han, to save Lu Xueqi, bravely clashed with the Shadow Fiend Leader without regard for his own safety, and remembered his focus as he carried Lu Xueqi through the arduous journey. That bitter feeling in her heart subtly resurfaced.

But she quickly shook her head, suppressing these emotions, and focused on her duty as a Protector.

Time flowed in silence; outside the window, noon turned to dusk.

The hustle and bustle of Heyang City faintly drifted through the doors and windows, further highlighting the tranquility within the small room.

When night fell again, the blue halo around Lu Xueqi gradually receded.

She slowly opened her eyes; a trace of color returned to her originally pale face. Although her internal injuries were far from healed, her Qi had stabilized considerably, and at least her life was no longer in danger.

At her movement, Su Han and Bi Yao almost simultaneously noticed.

"You're awake? How do you feel?"

Su Han immediately sat up from the bed, asking with concern.

Bi Yao also looked over.

Lu Xueqi gently exhaled a breath of turbid Qi, assessed her internal condition, and said softly, "I'm fine now; I still need time to recuperate. Thank you for protecting me."

Seeing her stable condition, Su Han and Bi Yao both genuinely breathed a sigh of relief.

The greatest crisis was temporarily averted.

At this moment, all three of their stomachs simultaneously let out faint "grumbling" sounds.

After a day and a night of travel, intense fighting, and healing, they were all ravenously hungry.

Su Han rubbed his stomach, a wry smile appearing: "It seems we need to solve the problem of our hungry stomachs first. I'll ask the Waiter to bring some food up."

He carefully opened the door and instructed the Waiter waiting outside to prepare some light porridge and dishes for the room.

To avoid suspicion, he specifically asked for extra portions, pretending that the three of them had large appetites.

Soon, simple meals were brought up: a basin of white porridge, a few small side dishes, and some steamed buns.

Although plain, for the three famished individuals, it was delicious.

Sitting around the small wooden table in the center of the room, the atmosphere was a bit subtle.

Su Han and Bi Yao were fine, having experienced much together, but Lu Xueqi rarely shared a table with others, especially men, and in such a small, private space.

She ate extremely gracefully and slowly, almost without making any sound, a stark contrast to Bi Yao's eating, which, despite her extreme hunger, still carried a hint of charming childishness.

Su Han ate while saying in a low voice, "We need to rest here for at least a few days, until Junior Sister Lu's injuries stabilize and we are fully recovered, before planning our next steps.

During this time, try not to go out to avoid any unnecessary trouble."

Bi Yao bit into a steamed bun and mumbled, "Got it.

But the food at this inn is really terrible. Once I'm better, I absolutely must go to the best restaurant in Heyang City for a big meal."

Lu Xueqi silently drank her porridge, saying nothing.

She knew their current predicament well; safety came first, and the desires of the palate were utterly insignificant.

After the meal, Su Han once again checked the wound on Lu Xueqi's left arm, confirming that the detoxification was complete and the wound was beginning to heal under the nourishment of Spirit Medicine and her own spiritual energy. Only then was he completely relieved.

His own arm injury, under Bi Yao's careful attention and his powerful physique, was also no longer a major concern.

As night deepened, Heyang City's lights came on, and faint sounds of music and revelry drifted from afar, making this place seem even more secluded.

The issue of rest was now before them.

The room only had two beds: one slightly larger wooden bed and one smaller low couch.

"Junior Sister Lu is injured and needs good rest; she'll take the large bed."

Su Han arranged directly, "Bi Yao, you take the low couch. I can meditate and regulate my Qi, and stand guard at the same time."

"How can that be!"

Bi Yao immediately objected, "Your injuries aren't fully healed, and you've been up for so long, you must get good rest!

Otherwise... otherwise this bed is big enough, we..."

She stopped mid-sentence, her face suddenly flushing, too embarrassed to continue.

Hearing this, Lu Xueqi's hand, holding the teacup, paused slightly, and she lowered her eyes.

Su Han was also startled, then secretly glanced at Lu Xueqi and shook his head: "My Cultivation Technique is special; meditating is resting, and the effect is even better than sleep.

You two just rest assured; you'll need to maintain your condition tomorrow."

Bi Yao opened her mouth, saw Su Han's serious gaze, then glanced at the silent Lu Xueqi, and finally stomped her foot in a huff:

"Suit yourself! Just die from exhaustion, you blockhead!"

With that, she turned and walked to the low couch, lay down fully clothed facing the wall, and ignored them.

Lu Xueqi looked up at Su Han and said softly, "Senior Brother Su... I appreciate your trouble."

"It's my duty, Junior Sister Lu, no need to be polite. Please rest quickly," Su Han said gently.

Lu Xueqi said no more, and as told, lay down on the bed, pulling the thin blanket over herself.

She was indeed physically and mentally exhausted and needed real sleep to recover.

Su Han blew out the oil lamp, leaving only a faint light from outside the window.

He sat cross-legged again on the futon by the door, qingming sword across his lap, and closed his eyes.

But he did not fully enter a meditative state; his spiritual sense, like an invisible spiderweb, quietly covered the inside and outside of the room, vigilant for any unusual fluctuations.

In the room, the breathing of the three people gradually became steady.

Bi Yao seemed to fall asleep quickly, with even breathing.

Lu Xueqi's breathing was light and long, evidently falling asleep slower, but she too gradually became calm in her exhaustion.
