501: Bone Lord Malegor Darkskull
Soon, the palpable pressure from afar rolled in, like an invisible cloud of death, engulfing the entire battlefield ruins.
The air became thick and cold, permeated with the scent of decaying corpses and absolute power.
The scattered bones on the ground began to tremble slightly, emitting a rustling wail, as if welcoming the arrival of their Lord.
The Undead Mage Kaluo's finger bones clenched his staff tightly, his faded robe flapped without wind, and the spiritual body beneath him trembled.
The ghostly fire in his eye sockets flickered violently, and his voice carried an undisguised fear: "Master... this pressure... it's Lord Kugu himself!
He... he actually came in person! We..."
Su Han took a deep breath, forcefully suppressing the turbulent, almost depleted Chaos energy within his body.
An extreme sense of weakness surged through his will like a tide, but his spine remained straight, his eyes sharp as an eagle's, fixed intently on the direction from which the pressure came.
On his face, pale as paper, there was no hint of retreat, only a nearly insane calmness.
"What are you panicking about!"
Su Han's voice was hoarse, yet it carried a strange calming power, "He's here, so what? It's just another battle!"
Though he said this, Su Han's heart was incredibly heavy.
Just now, to instantly kill the Bone-Corroding Knight and the Bone Dragon Mo Lin, he had almost completely drained the power of the Chaos core he had initially mastered. That seemingly overwhelming attack was, in fact, an all-out gamble.
At this moment, his Meridians were like dry riverbeds, faintly aching, and the Chaos energy field flickered erratically, making even maintaining the most basic defense seem difficult.
Facing Lord Kugu, who was at his peak and a formidable force in the Spirit Realm, his chances of victory now were slim.
But retreat meant death!
Only by fighting to the death might there be a glimmer of hope!
"Kaluo!"
Su Han said in a low voice, "Don't just stand there! Recover as much power as you can, and set up all the defensive Spells you can cast! Even if it only delays him for a moment!"
"Yes! Master!"
The Undead Mage, infected by Su Han's calmness, forcefully suppressed his fear, waved his staff, and chanted obscure incantations.
The scattered skeletons around him seemed to respond to his call, floating up and constructing a crude bone wall around him and Su Han.
Dark Death Qi covered it like a thin veil, forming a fragile protection.
However, both Su Han and Kaluo knew that this level of defense would likely be like paper in front of Lord Kugu.
"Woo— Buzz—"
A low horn sound echoed from afar, not from a physical object, but a mournful wail produced by the vibration of powerful undead will in the air.
Immediately after, on the horizon, a darker, deeper shadow spread out.
First to appear was a massive legion.
Uniform footsteps shook the earth; it was a phalanx composed entirely of elite skeleton warriors.
Their bodies were much taller than the previous Bone-Corroding Knights, their bones exhibiting a dark golden metallic sheen, wielding rusty but intensely Death Qi-emitting great axes and halberds, with cold blue soul flames burning in their eye sockets, marching in silence, bringing with them a suffocating sense of oppression.
On both sides of the phalanx were thousands of ghostly units, floating like pale mist, emitting mind-disturbing wails. Wherever they passed, even light seemed to be swallowed.
And in the very center of the legion, a throne, made of countless huge skeletons pieced together, like a moving fortress, was being slowly pulled by dozens of massive skeletal beasts.
Upon the throne sat a figure.
It was no ordinary skeleton; its bones were a dark, glazed color, as if having endured countless ages, densely covered with naturally formed, complex and eerie dark golden patterns, like ancient covenant runes.
He wore a tattered but still visibly luxurious black monarch's robe, and on his head, a crown carved from the skull of an unknown giant beast.
In his hand, he held a scepter.
The scepter's tip was not a gem, but a dark heart, still faintly beating, radiating endless pain and resentment!
Each beat caused the surrounding Death Qi in space to surge like a tide.
He was Lord Kugu - Malag Anhai! (End of chapter)
