523: The Coquettish Biyao (Part 2)
Su Han only then stopped his actions, feeling satisfied.
He still held her tightly, not letting go.
Looking at the blooming smile and peach-blossom complexion of the person in his arms, his heart warmed.
He couldn't help but quickly peck her slightly parted lips.
Bi Yao's laughter abruptly stopped.
Her cheeks instantly turned crimson.
She glared at him playfully, her eyes moist and dewy, completely lacking menace.
Instead, it looked more like pouting.
Su Han adored her like this.
He couldn't help but lower his head and kiss her forehead again.
Only then did he slightly loosen his arms, but he still held her hand.
"Let's see if you dare again."
Bi Yao's breathing calmed slightly.
She huffed, then firmly squeezed his hand back.
Her fingertips, however, secretly tickled his palm once.
Then, while he was momentarily stunned, she laughed and ran forward again.
"I don't dare! Let's go quickly. Bijia Mountain is still far away!"
Su Han felt the slight tickle in his palm.
Looking at the slender figure ahead, once again full of vitality, he shook his head with a smile.
He took large strides to follow her.
After this bout of laughter and play, the atmosphere between them became even more relaxed and natural.
The subtle shyness of their newly established relationship gradually transformed into an intimate understanding and sweetness.
The mountain path was sometimes flat, sometimes rugged.
When they encountered a steep section, Su Han would always leap up first.
Then he would turn around and extend his hand to steadily pull Bi Yao up.
When they came across streams and loose rocks, he would carefully remind her to watch her step.
Sometimes, he would simply put an arm around her waist, leading her to lightly tap the water's surface and leap across.
Bi Yao would also, during breaks, take out her water skin and offer it to him first.
Or she would meticulously wipe away the tiny beads of sweat on his temples, caused by their hurried journey, with her embroidered handkerchief.
"Hey, Su Han, look at that cluster of red berries over there.
Are those the sweet and sour Vermilion Fruits you mentioned?"
Bi Yao was sharp-eyed, pointing to a small cluster of bright red wild berries growing in a rock crevice not far away.
Su Han looked in the direction she indicated and nodded.
"That's right. Your eyesight is excellent. They'll be perfect to quench our thirst."
The two walked to the base of the rock wall.
The berries grew a bit high.
Su Han said, "You wait. I'll pick them."
"Together," Bi Yao said with a smile.
Before her words finished, both of them, with perfect synchronicity, lightly pushed off the ground with their toes and gracefully leaped up.
Su Han reached for the highest and plumpest berries, while Bi Yao picked those a bit lower.
After landing, Bi Yao opened her palm.
Five or six translucent red berries lay in her palm.
She picked up the largest and reddest one and offered it to Su Han's mouth.
"Taste if it's sweet?"
Su Han bit into the berry from her hand, his lips inadvertently brushing her fingertips.
Both of them paused slightly.
Bi Yao quickly withdrew her hand.
She also took a berry and put it in her mouth, pretending to taste it nonchalantly, but she couldn't hide her slightly flushed earlobes.
"Mmm, very sweet." Su Han chewed, smiling as he looked at her, his meaning clear.
Bi Yao pretended not to understand, turning away, but she couldn't help but secretly smile.
Her heart felt sweeter than the berry in her mouth.
They continued forward.
As they passed an open meadow, many dandelion seeds flew in from somewhere, like small white fluff balls, dancing in the air and sparkling in the sunlight.
"Wow, so many dandelions!" Bi Yao exclaimed with surprise, reaching out to catch a few small fluffy parachutes floating past her eyes.
Su Han looked at her childish actions, his eyes tender.
He also reached out and caught one, then gently blew.
The white fluff drifted towards Bi Yao and stuck to her hair.
Bi Yao noticed.
She also grabbed a handful of dandelions and, smiling, blew them towards Su Han.
"That's for blowing at me!"
Su Han didn't dodge or evade, letting the white fluff stick all over him.
Instead, he smiled and stepped forward, reaching out to remove the dandelion from her hair.
His fingertips gently smoothed her wind-tousled hair.
Bi Yao stopped moving, looking up at his focused and gentle expression.
Her heart rate involuntarily quickened.
Their eyes met.
The dandelions dancing around them seemed to form a dreamlike background.
Su Han slowly lowered his head.
Just as his lips were about to fall again
—
"Buzz—" A faint but extremely sharp sound of something cutting through the air suddenly struck from their rear-side!
"Careful!" Su Han's expression drastically changed.
He instantly pulled Bi Yao sharply behind him, while his other hand shot out like lightning!
Between his index and middle fingers, a fine needle, entirely black and glowing with a faint blue luster, was already clamped!
The needle tip was barely half an inch from his throat!
The warm and romantic atmosphere instantly vanished, completely shattered by the sharp Killing Intent!
Bi Yao's reaction was also extremely fast.
Almost at the same time Su Han pulled her, her longsword was already unsheathed.
She spun around, standing back-to-back with Su Han, vigilantly scanning the surrounding grass and trees.
Her eyes instantly became cold and sharp.
"Who's there?" Su Han demanded in a deep voice, his gaze like lightning, shooting towards the direction from which the hidden weapon came.
The poisoned needle was clamped between his fingers, and he felt immense lingering fear.
If not for his keen spiritual sense, detecting that momentary Killing Intent, the consequences would have been unimaginable!
The mountain forest was silent, with only the rustling of the wind through the grass.
However, beneath this silence, a cold murderous intent lurked.
Su Han and Bi Yao stood back-to-back, clearly feeling each other's tense muscles and highly concentrated minds.
The playful ease of moments ago had receded like a tide.
Now, they were inseparable comrades, facing unknown danger together.
Their hands were still tightly clasped, but no longer in an embrace, but conveying strength and determination.
This path, it seemed, would not always be filled only with warmth and sweetness.
But no matter what they encountered, they would face it together. (End of chapter)
