424: Cold! Dead silence!
Her toes curled slightly, and the skin on the soles of her feet touched the cold surface of the bones, leaving a clear footprint with a faint bloodstain.
Then, it was the other foot. She stood steadily on the mountain of bones, her height even exceeding the edge of the dried-up pool.
Then, she slowly, incredibly slowly, raised her bowed head.
The dark red energy mixed in the light pillar surged wildly into her body, passing through her skin and meridians, finally converging in her eyes.
Su Han's heart nearly stopped.
He saw her tightly closed eyelids, those eyelids covered with thick eyelashes, first twitch very slightly, as if a sleeping Soul was making its first contact with external information.
Then, those long eyelashes, like startled butterfly wings, began a slow, suffocating process of opening and closing.
Every subtle upward lift carried a Qi of destruction and Rebirth.
The moment those eyes opened a sliver—
“Bi Yao,” who was pinned beneath Su Han, suddenly let out a piercing wail far exceeding her previous ones!
The sound was extremely painful, filled with boundless rage and fear, almost piercing Su Han's eardrums.
“No—! Stop! It… shouldn’t… awaken!!”
The struggle within her body suddenly intensified tenfold! The dark red patterns instantly burst forth with dazzling light, and an unimaginable immense force surged out.
Su Han felt as if he had been directly struck by a charging rhinoceros; his arms were in searing pain, and he could no longer suppress her.
He was violently flung into the air by an invisible Qi wave, tumbling two or three times before crashing heavily against the stone wall a few meters away. The impact on his back against the wall dislocated his internal organs, and the sharp pain of old wounds tearing made his vision blacken, a metallic taste filling his throat.
“Wah!”
A mouthful of blood uncontrollably spurted out.
Almost simultaneously, at the peak of the bone mountain in the pool's depths, those eyes fully opened.
There were no pupils, no whites of the eyes.
Only two swirling, rotating, solidified deep red vortices, like the core leading to the deepest level of Hell.
They continuously devoured the light pillar's energy, and also seemed to want to absorb all surrounding light, life, and even Souls into them.
Cold! Silent!
Yet, at the same time, they contained the chaotic Origin of the primeval Universe!
The flung “Bi Yao,” or rather, the ancient will occupying her body, did not immediately pounce on Su Han.
She didn't even glance at Su Han, but instead stared fixedly, with a look mixed with extreme hatred, bone-deep fear, and a certain morbid greed, at the being with the crimson vortex eyes that had opened in the light pillar.
She floated in mid-air, arms outstretched, her body trembling slightly due to intense emotions. The dark red patterns flickered like breathing, and the surrounding air subtly warped and rippled due to her distorted power field.
Tiny gravel (small gravel) were drawn by an invisible force, beginning to slowly float and rotate around her.
“Ha… ha… finally…”
She squeezed out fragmented, inhuman sounds from her throat, imbued with a nearly desperate fanaticism,
“Ancient… Core of Chaos… Abyss Eyes that devour all… You… have finally returned…”
Su Han struggled to crawl up from the rubble and bloodstains. Every exertion pulled at the tearing pain in his back and arms. Burning pain, numbness, and the dull ache from new impact injuries intertwined, almost causing him to collapse.
His breathing was as rapid as a broken bellows, each inhale carrying the scent of blood and an indescribable heavy chill.
Sweat soaked his clothes, mixed with blood and dust, clinging coldly to his skin.
His vision struggled to focus, past the fake “Bi Yao” floating in the air in a bizarre, almost sacrificial posture, and landed on the crimson figure at the center of the light pillar, on the bone throne.
Those two vortex-like eyes slowly swept over the floating “Bi Yao,” without any emotional fluctuation, as if passing over a lifeless stone.
Finally, that all-devouring gaze locked onto the struggling Su Han.
The moment he was gazed upon, Su Han felt not physical pressure, but the purest annihilation warning erupting from the depths of his Soul!
His thoughts, like rusted gears, instantly froze and stiffened.
The blood throughout his body seemed to coagulate, his heart convulsed violently, as if instinctively trying to escape this gaze, yet was firmly pinned in place by an invisible force.
An irresistible coldness surged wildly up his spine, rushing straight into his mind.
It froze all his fighting spirit, all his survival instincts, into a dead blankness, leaving only the most primitive fear screaming wildly.
“Hoo…”
Su Han let out a meaningless gasp from his throat, like a dying beast. All his senses seemed to be stripped away; the entire world was left with only those swirling, endless crimson abysses.
He even saw the white mist of his exhaled breath condensing in the cold air rapidly dim and dissipate under that gaze, as if his life force was being drawn away by invisible threads.
