369: careful!
Su Han quickly shielded Bi Yao behind him, and although his body hadn't recovered, his eyes were as sharp as an eagle's, fixed on the cracks and mist.
Bi Yao also stood up, her hands clasped tightly, trying to mobilize the little Spirit Energy she had left in her body.
The black mist grew thicker, gradually closing in on them, and the flickering red eyes in the mist appeared and disappeared, their numbers so vast that it made one's scalp tingle.
"Bi Yao, be careful!"
Su Han's voice was low and firm. In this strange environment, he tried his best to remain calm, creating a safe haven for Bi Yao.
His hand instinctively reached for his waist, where his usual sword used to hang.
But now the sword had broken in the previous battle, leaving only an empty scabbard, and a trace of helplessness and unwillingness surged in his heart.
Bi Yao nodded slightly, her lips a little pale from tension and exhaustion, but her eyes held a determined resolve.
"Su Han, I won't be a burden to you."
She said softly, her voice small but full of strength.
As the mist drew closer, Su Han narrowed his eyes, trying to discern the appearance of the mysterious creatures within the mist.
He vaguely saw that the creatures in the mist were small in stature but possessed sharp claws and teeth that gleamed with cold light. They moved nimbly through the mist, emitting a chilling hissing sound.
"These things don't look easy to deal with."
Su Han said in a low voice, his mind racing as he thought of a countermeasure.
They were currently lacking Spirit Energy and physically weak, so a direct confrontation was clearly not a wise move.
He looked around, trying to find terrain they could use for cover or advantage, but the cave was very spacious. Aside from the small stream in the center and the smooth stone walls around them, there was almost nowhere to hide.
Bi Yao also sensed the severity of the situation. Her heart rate accelerated sharply, and her breathing became rapid.
She tightly clutched Su Han's sleeve, as if doing so would give her more courage.
"Su Han, what should we do?"
There was a slight tremor in her voice. This was the first time she had shown such obvious fear in front of Su Han.
Su Han took a deep breath, trying to calm himself down.
"Don't panic, let's first observe their movement patterns," he said.
Just then, a larger creature suddenly darted out from the mist and lunged towards them.
Su Han was quick-witted and nimble. He quickly sidestepped and simultaneously raised his arm, striking the creature's head hard with his elbow.
The creature let out a sharp shriek and fell to the ground, but it quickly struggled back up, the fierce light in its eyes intensifying.
This action seemed to enrage the other creatures in the mist. They all accelerated their speed and surged towards Su Han and Bi Yao.
Su Han and Bi Yao stood back to back, preparing to face the upcoming attack.
Su Han continuously swung his arms, using his fists and feet to fend off the creatures' attacks.
Meanwhile, Bi Yao looked for opportunities on the side, using her meager Spirit Energy to cast some auxiliary Spells, trying to interfere with the creatures' movements.
However, the number of these creatures was simply too great, and Su Han and Bi Yao gradually felt their strength failing.
Su Han already had multiple wounds on his body, his clothes stained with blood. Bi Yao also became paler due to excessive Spirit Energy consumption, and her movements became slower and slower.
"This won't do."
Su Han said, panting, "We have to find a way to break through."
His gaze fell on one side of the cave, where there was a relatively small crack that might be wide enough for the two of them to pass through.
"Bi Yao, let's rush towards that direction and see if we can get out through that crack."
He said, pointing towards the crack. (End of this chapter)
