105: wool

Locke Galahad smiled, "But shouldn't we settle old scores first?"

"What do you mean?"

A look of disdain appeared at the corners of Locke Galahad's mouth. "You and Kraven previously swindled my subordinate here. As a powerhouse in the Supernatural World, shouldn't you make some compensation to her?"

"What kind of compensation?"

"At the very least, you should hand over the correct secret codex to her!"

"Oh, so that's what you were aiming for."

The puppet displayed a rare flicker of emotion, then chuckled, "But isn't that original copy already in your hands?"

Locke Galahad remained composed and did not immediately admit it, instead continuing to probe, "Are you saying the one Emilia gave me is the original? Don't try to fool me; I'm not some ignorant newcomer."

"No, no, no. I am not talking about that fake."

The puppet stared at Locke Galahad's face and shook a finger, "I am talking about the secret codex wrapped in sheepskin that you took from Kraven's secret room."

"It contains detailed records of the methods and rituals for advancing from a Corpse Ghoul to a true Sequence 9 Vampire."

"Ahem," Locke Galahad confirmed from the puppet's reaction that he had indeed obtained the genuine article. He immediately changed his tone and shifted his stance, "I want the complete one. Since all sequences are paths to godhood, it shouldn't just end at Sequence 9, right?"

The puppet was shocked by Locke Galahad's shameless bargaining. Even for him, who always had a wooden face, his expression showed surprise once again.

"Heh, you really have the nerve to ask for the moon. A complete path to godhood would likely cause the people of the Supernatural World to beat each other's brains out. If I had one, whether I could even survive to cooperate with you would be a question."

"What's the matter? If you don't have it, just say so." Locke Galahad didn't mind at all, lifting his brows slightly without the slightest hint of embarrassment.

"If I had the complete path for a Vampire to become a god, why would I come to you to cooperate? I would have hidden away to cultivate in silence long ago."

"Since you don't want to cooperate, then forget it."

"Then return my book on the Sequence 9 Vampire to me."

The person behind the puppet changed their tone. It was no longer cold and icy; they were clearly a bit rattled.

"You must be dreaming. I snatched that myself; when did it ever become yours?"

Locke Galahad lifted his chin slightly and glanced sideways at his opponent. He hadn't expected this puppet to be able to say such shameless words with a straight face.

"Just because you are hiding behind a puppet doesn't mean you can be shameless, right?"

"You..." The puppet was rendered speechless by Locke Galahad's retort. Then, turning its head aside, it completely gave up the idea of arguing with him and changed the subject, "Let's switch conditions. You can ask me some questions about the Supernatural World. As long as I know the answer, I will tell you. That way, we can call it even. What do you say?"

Locke Galahad knew that his previous demand for the complete sequence was a bit too difficult for the other party. After all, he had said it intentionally and never expected the other party to be able to produce it. Even if they had, he wouldn't have believed it anyway.

The reason he said that was simply to raise the other party's psychological price for cooperation so that he could gain more advantages in the bargaining process.

And look, although the other party was helpless, they immediately offered a condition even better than the previous oneβ€”a condition that was definitely acceptable to Locke Galahad. Therefore, upon hearing that he could ask questions related to the supernatural, he immediately nodded in agreement.

"Fine. As long as every word you say is true, I can wipe the slate clean regarding our feud, and I can even let this puppet of yours go back."

"Ask whatever questions you have regarding the supernatural." Seeing that Locke Galahad agreed to cooperate, the puppet stopped standing, found a seat, and sat down.

Locke Galahad did not start speaking immediately but beckoned to Emilia, "Unlock his chains."

"But this..." "It's fine, go ahead and unlock them."

Locke Galahad's tone was calm, so Emilia did not persist in her opinion. Pouting, she walked up to the puppet with some resentment and took out the key to remove the iron lock.

Seeing this, the puppet turned its head and gazed quietly at Locke Galahad, though no one knew what it was thinking.

Locke Galahad mainly removed the chains because he wasn't worried about the other party escaping. After all, if the other party had the strength to escape from him, the chains would be useless against this puppet anyway. Since they were discussing cooperation, it was better to unlock the chains, which could also leave a decent impression on the other party.

Locke Galahad looked at the other party with a smile on his face and tried to get closer, "You know my name, but I still don't know how to address you. Before we begin, why don't you tell me your name?"

"It is impossible for me to tell you my name," the puppet shook its head with a calm expression, then warned, "When you step into the Supernatural World in the future, do not easily ask for others' names, and even more so, do not easily reveal your true name to others. This is my first piece of advice to you."

"Why is that?" Locke Galahad did not pretend to understand; he chose to get to the bottom of it directly.

"Because in the Supernatural World, you can never guess what means others possess. Someone might be able to lock onto you through your name and even cause you harm."

Since they had already agreed to cooperate, the puppet did not hold back. Facing Locke Galahad's persistent questioning, he acted like an elder, showing great patience.

"I understand." Locke Galahad nodded, keeping the advice the puppet gave him in his heart.

Although the other party didn't seem like a good person, the information shared seemed reasonable.

"I just don't know if others can anchor onto me through the name 'Locke', or if they need my original name to lock onto me? Or perhaps both names are required to make it work..."

In any case, after learning this advice, Locke Galahad made up his mind never to reveal his other true name in the future.

Seeing his worried expression, the puppet wore a slight look of secret delight and continued, "However, you don't need to be too worried. There are many people in this world with overlapping names; a name alone cannot do much."

"That may be true..." Locke Galahad raised his eyes, staring at the puppet thoughtfully, "But you know my name and have seen my face. And you might have even collected some of my biological tissues in secret, like hair or something. What if you target me after the cooperation is finished?"
