139: Disappearing taillights

A group of people watched the taillights speed away, shrinking until they disappeared, all unable to help but swallow hard.

A group of well-informed reporters, along with two New York State traffic police, were also left dumbfounded at the sight of this speeding jaguar.

It was too fast, truly too fast.

By the Time they saw the car, they didn't even have Time to react before it had already sped past them in the next second.

Everyone could only see a black afterimage flying past them.

Never mind the driver's face, they couldn't even see the specific model of the car clearly.

If the speed camera hadn't captured the jaguar brand earlier, they wouldn't have even been able to tell it was a jaguar.

"Quick, check if you got any photos."

The reporters were naturally clever.

They were using video cameras.

However, when the group of reporters ran back to their set-up cameras to review the footage, they all couldn't help but let out wails of despair.

Clearly, they hadn't managed to capture Locke's face.

"I got it, but this..." a young man shouted, holding up his camera, and everyone immediately crowded around him.

"Is this really... the driver?"

"The one in the driver's seat should be, right...?"

The reason they were so confused...

...was because they had captured a photo of a black raven appearing inside the car.

That raven even had its head tilted back, looking at the lens with crimson eyes full of contempt; that eerie feeling transmitted through the photo into the minds of everyone present.

This group of reporters immediately felt as if they had seen a messenger of death, feeling an inexplicable sense of panic.

Meanwhile, in a hidden corner, the rookie cop Lanus had a look of very restrained ecstasy on his face.

Although he was trying his best to suppress it, the muscles on his cheeks couldn't help but twitch.

"I got it!"

Naturally, it was impossible for a raven to be driving the car.

This happened because Locke had seen them gathered there from a distance.

After noticing those cameras pointed at the road, he had consciously used the Extraordinary Factor to obscure his figure.

At the same Time, he had Little Seven spread her wings to completely block him.

He hadn't forgotten his teacher's warning not to expose his identity to the public.

If they had captured him, Locke felt he might have been on the front page of New York's headlines tomorrow.

[A certain black jaguar flying low at 250 mph on the New York outer highway; let's investigate whether this driver is human or ghost.]

Before entering the Extraordinary world, Locke had never heard of such extraordinary events.

Locke guessed that perhaps all Extraordinary beings subconsciously hide their identities when in front of ordinary people.

"Could it be that I drove too fast while chasing Marcus, thereby attracting the attention of official Extraordinary organizations?"

"Master, how was my performance just now? Didn't I look very imposing?" Xiao Qi retracted her wings, a hint of secret delight on her face.

"I think those guys who don't know any better will be startled when they see the photo."

"Thanks to you." Locke smiled and reached out to gently stroke Little Seven's black and shiny feathers.

After this short Time together, he had also figured out the personality of this raven.

Although Xiao Qi was born a raven, she had the temper of a tsundere young girl.

However, Locke could see that this little one wasn't bad by nature, just a bit mischievous.

With some proper refining and training in the future, she should become a very good assistant.

And with such a talking raven for company, the journey during missions probably wouldn't be too boring.

As for Serena and Emilia...

Locke did not plan to take them along on missions in the future.

Because the strength of these women was currently too far from his own.

Taking them on missions would not only bring them no benefits but would also likely lead to them getting injured.

Locke felt that since this was the case, it would be better to just let them stay in the castle and properly cultivate the secret codex to improve their strength to Sequence 9.

It was both safe and wouldn't distract him.

"Caw caw caw caw."

Having been stroked and even praised by Locke, Xiao Qi couldn't help but put her wings on her hips, tilt her head back, and laugh out loud.

"Master, I think those guys were just too ungrateful, actually trying to catch a glimpse of your true face."

"Hmph, I think they really have a death wish. Why don't I just fly back and kill them all?"

"I'll make them all die without a sound."

Being praised like that by Locke, Xiao Qi immediately showed her true colors again, starting to get a bit arrogant and self-satisfied.

"Kill, kill, all you know is killing."

Locke was exasperated; he reached out and gently tapped her head, saying somewhat irritably:

"Your master is a civilized person, so you can't always have killing on the tip of your tongue.

They were just setting up cameras by the roadside and didn't cause me any loss; don't be so bloodthirsty."

"Caw, but I heard Lord Time say that you, Master, are ruthless and that your enemies have all gone to hell."

Xiao Qi held her head, saying somewhat aggrievedly: "I just wanted to be a ruthless raven like you, Master, so that everyone would be afraid of me when they see me."

"You, oh you... killing isn't something you just do. Those enemies of mine all provoked me, and I had no choice but to take action."

Locke smiled and spoke earnestly while driving:

"Moreover, killing isn't necessarily the only way to make others fear you.

Sometimes, if you are smart enough to learn to hide your thoughts and remain restrained, you can make even more people afraid."

He had realized that this little one couldn't just be praised; she also needed to be disciplined.

She was the type of Extraordinary pet that only listened properly when given a stick and then a carrot.

Xiao Qi nodded, seemingly half-understanding Locke's grand principles. After thinking for a while, she raised a wing, looking very pleasantly surprised.

"Master, I understand! You mean we shouldn't kill openly, but kill sneakily, kill in the shadows."

As she spoke, she even waved her wings a couple of Times, making a slashing motion.

"And after killing, don't let people know it was you, yet vaguely let them know it was you.

Thus making them feel a kind of fear from the bottom of their hearts."

The more she spoke, the wider the expression on her face became, until finally she laughed out loud, completely losing her grace.

"Wah-ga-ga! Master, I've realized it! Haha, I've realized it!"

Locke looked at her behavior, didn't say anything more, and let out a sigh.

He finally understood why his teacher's evaluation of this raven was like that.

"Sigh, since she's already here, I can only raise her myself."

At the same Time, he gradually let off the accelerator, because the castle he had been away from for a few days had already appeared before his eyes.

Those towering spires were so eye-catching in the dark night.

Not only that...

In front of the castle gates, Emilia and Erica, who had already received the news, were waiting.

Of course, besides the two of them...

...all the other Vampires in the base were also dressed in formal attire, standing very respectfully on both sides of the gate, each with their heads held high, maintaining a proper posture.

This group of Vampires, in the eyes of ordinary people, currently looked as if they were welcoming their own Extraordinary sovereign.

Such a scene...

...made Xiao Qi, standing on Locke's shoulder, unable to help but widen her eyes and hold her breath.

Her personality absolutely loved such grand scenes, especially when she was the center of everyone's focus.

"Master, are they waiting for us?"
