125: Continue the pursuit

Locke didn't intend to hide anything, so he offered a casual excuse.

"I think Alexander knew his sins were heavy, which is why he gave up on the hope of living."

Serena didn't say anything after hearing this, only looking at Alexander with a hint of regret.

"Should we help him handle the body now?"

"Time is tight; we can't afford to delay here."

Locke shook his head.

"We should go after Marcus and William first. It won't be too late to come back and handle his remains later."

He had sensed something slightly off from Marcus's tone and attitude just now.

He had a premonition that if they arrived late, some unexpected change might occur. At that time, his chances of winning might drop from 99%...

...down to 97% or 95%.

That wasn't secure enough and didn't fit his cautious personality.

Serena's expression was solemn as she nodded. "I'll follow your lead. Let's take care of business first. As for Mr. Alexander's funeral arrangements, we'll help him with that when we return."

"Let's go. Alfred, you come down too." Locke beckoned from the sky, and Alfred immediately landed on his shoulder.

Before leaving, out of respect, Serena found a white cloth in the hall and covered Alexander's body, preserving his last shred of dignity.

Locke watched from the side without saying much. Once Serena was finished, the three of them walked out of the house together.

Standing on Locke's shoulder, Alfred hopped with excitement.

"My Lord, My Lord! That sword strike of yours just now was truly incredible. If that dog Marcus hadn't been such a coward, he'd probably be in hell by now."

"He's not a fool. Why would he stand still and let me hack him?"

Locke smiled and sighed. To be honest, he really had hoped Marcus would have just bitten into Alexander's neck...

...and tanked that sword strike head-on.

Then he could have taken the map and found William himself, and his chances of winning would have absolutely reached 100%.

Alfred couldn't think that far ahead. His small head was filled entirely with the valiant figures of his ancestors.

"Squeak, if My Lord wants to kill him, he should just stand there and take it. An evil guy like that should honestly let My Lord grant him salvation."

"You..." Locke smiled and didn't say anything else.

Right now, the only thing he wanted to do was complete the extra conditions for Underworld, then do a lucky draw to increase his strength.

Of course, the primary purpose of increasing his strength at this stage was to deal with the mastermind behind the death of his previous life.

Even though these past few days...

...Locke had been forcing himself not to think about it, 'death shadow' was still hanging on his status panel, which meant the threat from the other party had not yet been eliminated.

After transmigrating into this American Horror Story World, he didn't have many goals; the most important one was to survive.

Anyone who tried to stop him from living would be regarded as an enemy.

Especially since the other party was someone hiding in the shadows trying to kill him, it put a lot of pressure on him.

"After I handle this task, I'll have the Vampires under me start investigating it."

He was preoccupied with his thoughts, and Serena beside him also had a heavy look on her face throughout the journey, as if she were contemplating something.

Because just as she gained an increase in strength, she recalled more memories of her childhood.

Countless memory fragments finally pieced together into a complete map.

The end of the map was a prison on an island, which was exactly what her father had built at Victor's request.

And that was also the reason her father had been murdered by Victor.

"Locke, I think we probably can't continue the pursuit by car."

Just as they were about to step into the jaguar, Selene stopped in her tracks.

"I just remembered that the prison where William is held is on an isolated island at sea. We can't get there by driving..."

"Then let me think."

Hearing this, Locke rubbed his chin, and only then did he remember from the original story that Selene had pursued them in a helicopter.

How could he have almost forgotten that part?

"Then we'll probably have to find a flying vehicle to pursue them."

"I found in Alexander's fragmented memories that there seems to be a private helicopter at his villa."

"Locke, do you know how to fly one?"

Locke scratched his head awkwardly. "I really don't know how to do that..."

He had never studied planes at all, though back in the day, he had played quite a few helicopter flight simulator games.

However, Locke felt that if he were to fly it himself, it might be too risky. They were already at the final step of their long journey.

He didn't want to make any overly risky decisions at this critical moment.

So he suggested:

"Why don't we have Emilia help us contact a subordinate who can fly a helicopter? Finding a human is fine too."

Selene nodded.

"I remember we do seem to have a subordinate coven here, but it belongs to Elder Emilia. I'll contact Elder Emilia first and have her help us communicate with them."

Having agreed on a plan, the two sat back in the car and called Emilia.

"Master, I've already contacted Alifor. He said he can be here in about 30 minutes."

"Good." Locke hung up the phone and waited in the car with Selene and Alfred.

On the other side, Marcus had flown about half the distance during those 30 minutes, with about a hundred kilometers left before reaching the Sea Prison where William was located.

Looking at the very tiny isolated island across the distant sea...

...Marcus, in his rapid flight, sneered repeatedly and couldn't help but mutter to himself:

"Heh heh, brat, as long as you dare to come over later, I'll show you what true power looks like."

"Today, I will definitely take back all the humiliation I suffered from you. Just you wait."

He could already envision the scene of Locke's defeat and death at his hands.

After all, in his view, Locke's strength was at most enough to show off in Sequence 9.

Once he joined forces with William and mastered the secret technique he had found...

...his strength would then approach Sequence 8.

At that time, crushing a mere Locke would be as easy as pie.

"But I should also thank this kid for killing that nuisance Victor for me. Heh heh, looking at it this way, this guy is practically my lucky star..."

As the Sea Prison drew closer, Marcus's sense of crisis was gradually diminishing, replaced by boundless confidence.

On the other side,

After waiting for 30 minutes, a middle-aged white Vampire who looked to be in his 30s...

...piloted a black helicopter and landed outside the villa.

"You must be Lord Locke. I am Alifor, sent by Elder Emilia to provide support."

"I'm sorry to have kept you and Lady Selene waiting for so long."

As soon as the helicopter stopped, the man ran to the black jaguar.

Bowing with a very respectful attitude, he greeted the two of them.
