7: Ice Queen Falls into the Trap
If one had to say, Locke Galahad's ancestors were likely British aristocrats who migrated from Europe during the colonial period, not native-born Americans from later eras.
This could be seen from the surname 'Galahad'.
Lucien, however, just took it as him speaking in anger and didn't take it to heart, continuing to press him:
"So, you actually could have killed Kruto with that shot, right?"
"If you are referring to the one who was tailing me this morning, I believe so."
Locke shrugged: "But I had no reason to kill him; we have no grudge."
With his Lv4 marksmanship, which could be called superb, if he had truly wanted to kill Kruto, those two shots would definitely have hit the center of the other's forehead.
Even if the Werewolf Clan had strong regenerative abilities, if their heads were blown off, presumably they wouldn't survive.
He wasn't exaggerating. One had to know that even the Werewolf Clan progenitor William would die on the spot if shot in the head, let alone these later generations.
Of course, the reason he admitted to this was mainly to have Lucien owe him a favor, which would make the subsequent cooperation go more smoothly.
Lucien's heart was in turmoil at this moment; the strategy and insight Locke displayed also strengthened his conviction to cooperate with him.
Although he knew Locke's identity might be problematic, it didn't matter; as long as he could kill Victor, he was willing to do anything.
Even if Locke were a demon, he would still be willing to cooperate with him.
Downstairs, seeing that Lucien had been quiet for a long time, the hot-tempered Kruto couldn't sit still any longer.
After greeting the brothers around him, he impatiently rushed upstairs.
"Boss, did something go wrong?"
He pushed open the door and shouted at Lucien, but the scene before him made his jaw drop.
He saw his most respected boss, Lucien, and the person he currently hated the most, Locke, looking as if they were chatting happily.
Not only that, but the two sides were actually shaking hands.
"This..."
The scene before him made him think he was hallucinating. He then prepared to transform into a Werewolf, wanting to charge at Locke to wash away his humiliation.
Locke, having just reached an agreement, naturally noticed this uninvited guest who had suddenly burst in.
He subconsciously aimed his gun at the other party and immediately wanted to pull the trigger. Lucien was shocked by the speed at which he drew his gun,
and immediately reacted, quick-wittedly stepping across to block the space between the two:
"We're all on the same side, we're all on the same side, there's no need to fight."
Seeing this, Locke scratched his head and grinned, putting his gun back into his shoulder holster: "Instinctive reaction, instinctive reaction. I thought some blind fellow had invaded; please don't take offense."
Of course, he didn't know yet that the Werewolf before him was the same one he had hit that morning.
It wasn't that his eyesight was bad, but because the light was somewhat dim that morning, and added to the fact that the other party was disguised, he hadn't recognized him.
Kruto stood there, stunned.
Mainly, he didn't understand why Lucien, who should have been an enemy of Locke, was now in such a pleasant mood.
He originally wanted to ask something, but was interrupted by Lucien's words.
"Boss, what exactly is..."
"Didn't I tell you to stand guard downstairs? Why did you abandon your post and disobey my orders?"
Lucien turned his head, his tone very unfriendly.
Clearly, he was very dissatisfied with Kruto's behavior of disobeying orders and abandoning his post.
If he could abandon his post now, how could he entrust him with the heavy responsibility of protecting the Werewolf Clan in the future?
"I was mainly worried that something might have gone wrong. And Boss, why would you shake hands and make peace with such an ordinary person?" Kruto lowered his head and defended himself subconsciously.
"Hmph, an ordinary person? I think you don't know how formidable he is."
Lucien thought of the background Locke had displayed, and the corner of his mouth couldn't help but twitch:
"If I hadn't stopped Michael just now, you would be dead, and you wouldn't have the chance to talk big here."
To be honest, he hadn't even clearly seen the speed at which Locke drew his gun just now and had almost failed to react.
If his blocking action had been a second slower, he believed Kruto would already be a corpse lying on the ground.
"I..." Kruto couldn't find a reason to argue back.
"There's no need; since this brother is on our side, I naturally won't shoot indiscriminately."
Locke put his gun away and laughed it off.
"I must thank you for showing mercy."
Lucien nodded to Locke, expressing his gratitude. Kruto was somewhat unconvinced and wanted to say something more, but was immediately suppressed by Lucien's cold gaze.
Afterwards, according to the plan agreed upon with Locke, Lucien took Kruto downstairs to wait.
Locke continued to wait honestly in the clinic for the arrival of the other protagonist, Serena.
Compared to Lucien, Serena was the top priority of his mission.
However, as a woman, Serena was more emotional. Locke believed that he, having the same experiences as her, could more easily persuade her.
At this moment, in the Vampire Base in the suburbs, Serena had just finished arguing with Kraven about the big plot the Werewolf Clan was planning behind the scenes, armed with the evidence she had obtained.
"The Werewolf Clan was wiped out by me long ago, and even their leader, Lucien, died by my gun long ago."
"But what I saw today is definitely not false."
Serena did not appreciate Kraven's statement; she had not the slightest doubt about what she had seen and heard.
What she didn't know was that Kraven was also a participant in this Werewolf event, so even if she had already placed the evidence before him, it wouldn't lead to any results.
"That's enough." Kraven waved his hand and pretended to point at a few subordinates: "Go investigate the matter of the Werewolves that Serena mentioned, and give me a reply as soon as possible."
His move was, of course, not really to investigate the Werewolves, but just to put on a show for the Vampires.
Kraven didn't want much. He just wanted to use Lucien's hand to eliminate the three great elders currently in power of the Vampire Clan, and then become the greatest ruler of the Vampire Clan himself.
There was one more purpose: to take the most beautiful Vampire, Serena, into his harem.
To put it bluntly, he was an ambitious man blinded by power and women.
Therefore, Serena going to find Kraven naturally wouldn't have any results, but that didn't prevent her from taking action herself.
Seeing Kraven's obvious attitude of not wanting to care, Serena didn't say anything more and turned to leave.
"Since you don't believe me, I will have to investigate it myself."
The reason she was so obsessed with the Werewolves was mainly because she had been instilled from a young age that it was the Werewolves who killed her whole family.
Therefore, she also really wanted to know why the Werewolves were investigating a human.
With Michael's photo, she quickly traced it to the clinic.
So, without hesitation, she packed her equipment and rushed to the clinic alone.
Serena's thinking was simple now: since Kraven didn't believe her, she would go find Locke and ask for clarity.
She wouldn't give up until she got to the bottom of it.
To avenge her deep blood feud, she would absolutely not let any Werewolf go.
Only, Serena could never have imagined that the one who killed her whole family was her godfather, Victor.
