47: Bat Detective

After Serena retreated from the secret chamber, she immediately ran back to the room, intending to find Locke to discuss countermeasures.

This was an excellent opportunity; she did not want to let Kraven get away.

With a push of her hands, there was a creak, and the tightly closed wooden door was pushed open.

Taiwan Novel Website has a huge collection, super convenient.

"Elder Victor has already been awakened by me," Serena said toward the room, her face full of joy.

"However, he doesn't seem to fully believe what I said. He has no intention of dealing with Kraven directly; it seems like he wants to give him a chance."

Locke had already finished communicating with Erica by this time, so Serena's sudden return did not surprise him.

He had just been leaning on the sofa, studying the various data on the panel.

He didn't know until he looked; he was shocked when he did.

He hadn't checked the panel for a few days, and just after opening it, Locke was surprised to find that the color of the "death shadow" that had been plaguing him for many days had faded a little.

Correspondingly, his mental strength had also increased from 5 points to 6 points.

This made him subconsciously begin to analyze:

"Perhaps the influence of that mastermind is gradually moving away from me, or maybe there is something on me that is shielding his influence..."

Just as he was thinking this, he was startled by Serena's shout, and his consciousness returned to reality.

Looking at Serena, who was joyful yet conflicted, Locke raised his hand to gently stroke the back of her head, comforting her tenderly:

"It doesn't matter. Even if Elder Victor doesn't punish Kraven, as long as Elder Victor is around, he won't be able to cause trouble anymore."

"Hmm, what you said seems quite reasonable." Serena tilted her head, thought for a moment, and nodded.

"But if that happens, won't the matter of him harming you just be left unsettled?"

"There is no such good thing in this world."

Locke shook his head and continued:

"I was just speculating. Perhaps Elder Victor will find clues on him, and it's not impossible that he might execute him."

"In that case, I will go and escort Kraven to Elder Victor's secret chamber now."

Serena lifted her chin, pouted her little mouth, and hummed: "This time, I want to see if he can still put on that hypocritical act for Elder Victor."

"If it doesn't work this time, I will keep an eye on him from now on. I don't believe I won't be able to find his flaws."

Seeing Serena so motivated, Locke could not bear to dampen her spirits:

"We don't need to be pessimistic, nor should we be too optimistic. As long as Kraven is a fox, there will eventually be a day when he shows his tail. In short, we will just have to play it by ear."

He said all this for Serena's sake.

According to his current analysis, Kraven's strength might not be much weaker than Victor's.

After all, he did not know how long Kraven had been practicing that secret codex.

Given the long lifespan of a Vampire, it was possible that Kraven had been practicing for 100 or 200 years; in any case, it was definitely longer than Emilia.

And just by thinking about it, one could know:

Since he dared to take out the incomplete version to use as bait, he must have practiced it to a very high level.

Otherwise, who would dare to do such a thing?

Locke could be certain that, at the very least, Kraven had definitely finished practicing the part that Emilia had handed over to him.

"Mm-hmm." Serena stood on tiptoe and gently kissed him on the cheek, then immediately ran away.

"You just wait in the room for my good news. I will immediately send that dog Kraven to see the Elder."

Hearing this, Locke felt a bit moved and tentatively asked: "Do you need my help? I can also accompany you to escort Kraven to the Elder's room."

His thinking was very simple; now that Victor had just awakened, his strength might be affected.

If that were the case, if he wanted to kill him, it would be much easier once they started fighting.

Perhaps there might even be an opportunity to kill him and Kraven together in Victor's room, and then everything would go smoothly.

Serena's footsteps stopped at the door, and with an embarrassed look on her face, she refused:

"I'm sorry, I really can't help with that."

"You don't need to say sorry to me; I can understand."

Locke did not mind. Since he couldn't solve the problem easily, he would just have to fight the opponent properly.

"It's not that I don't want to take you to see the Elder; it's mainly because only direct Vampires like me and Kraven can enter the Elder's secret chamber."

Fearing that Locke might be angry, Serena hurriedly explained the internal rules of the Vampires:

"In theory, Kraven can only enter the secret chamber of his direct Elder, Marcus. However, because Elder Victor gave the order, I am able to take him there."

"You don't need to explain so much to me. I believe that if there were no force majeure, you would definitely not refuse me, right?"

"Mm-hmm."

Serena looked into Locke's eyes, nodded heavily, and then promised:

"But rest assured, in a while, I will suggest to my godfather that he meet you, this newcomer Vampire with infinite potential."

"Then I will wait in the room for your good news."

After speaking, Serena hurried out of the room without stopping, gathered a few people, and intended to invite Kraven to Victor's secret chamber.

After watching her leave, Locke's eyes emitted a strange color, and he walked to the window and snapped his fingers gently.

As his two fingers rubbed together, sound waves used for communication between bats spread out from him.

Within a few seconds, a giant bat, similar in size to an eagle and far exceeding ordinary bats, flew over.

The wingspan of this bat, Locke roughly estimated, must be half a meter wide.

If this were in reality, it would be filmed as a documentary by the Approaching Science program team.

When the bat flew closer, Locke discovered that there were many dense, small bats following it.

As soon as the Great Bat flew over, it landed its claws directly on his arm.

Although the other small bats also wanted to get close to Locke, hindered by the prestige of the Great Bat, they could only flutter around his hand.

Locke did not care about the disputes between the bats and immediately ordered the Great Bat:

"You, help me keep a close eye on Serena. It would be best if you could find out where they end up, and then come back and tell me immediately."

"Squeak, squeak (Who is Serena?)" The Great Bat landed on his hand, looking at him with confusion in its eyes.

Locke patted his forehead and then described Serena's appearance:

"She is a very curvaceous female Vampire wearing black leather all over her body, the one who just walked out of this room. She has my scent on her."

"Squeak, squeak, I know who you are talking about."

The Great Bat nodded and then stared greedily at his fingertips, saying:

"You just wait here for my good news. With me on the job, I can find any information for you, but don't forget to give me a reward when the time comes."

As soon as it finished speaking, the Great Bat flapped its wings, took a few small bats with it, and began to track Serena's trail.

This was Locke's backup plan, so whether Serena agreed to his request or not was not important.

Having creatures like bats, which would not arouse any suspicion in the Vampire castle, help him gather information was absolutely safe.

As long as he could find where Victor was, he would be able to find a way to kill him.

Locke watched the departing bat and subconsciously curled the corners of his mouth, smiling.

"Ha, if I were in the real world, would this count as being Batman?"
