25: Kiss Goodbye
"It's true, it's really true." Erica hugged him excitedly, then jumped up.
With their Vampire eyesight, they could see the target 100 meters away very clearly.
The reason Locke Galahad's marksmanship made them so excited was, naturally, not just as simple as hitting the target's vitals.
And the two of them were shocked to discover that what was most astonishing wasn't that Locke Galahad had fired six shots in the blink of an eye, but that while firing those six shots, every single one hit the exact same spot, without the slightest deviation.
The bullets had actually pierced straight through the head of the special dummy.
This marksmanship was simply inhuman; anyone who saw it would have to praise him as a master sharpshooter.
Serena and Erica stared at the target in the distance, calming down for a long while, before they could digest this shocking news.
Finally, they looked at him in unison, full of joy.
Locke Galahad's masterful marksmanship had completely exceeded their expectations.
This made Serena unable to suppress her curiosity, as she stared straight at him: "Locke Galahad, how on earth did you do it? To be able to improve your marksmanship to such a level in a short time is simply incredible."
Locke Galahad smiled slightly: "I told you, I've been training hard."
"But I never saw you fire a gun?"
"That's because I was training in my dreams, so naturally you couldn't see it."
Locke Galahad holstered his gun and continued to explain: "Also, the reason I couldn't shoot accurately when we fought the Werewolves that day was mainly because I had just acquired the Vampire powers and wasn't used to them, so I kept missing."
"I get it."
Erica's eyes lit up as she guessed: "So your marksmanship was already very good before, but after turning into a Vampire, you were affected, and your control over the gun decreased, which is why you missed, right?"
"Yes, you're right." Locke Galahad nodded calmly.
To be honest, he couldn't think of a better explanation, but since Erica had already thought of one for him, he might as well just admit it.
Besides, this explanation made logical sense.
Moreover, he couldn't exactly say that he was just acting with the Werewolves at the time.
Serena and Erica exchanged a glance, then let out a long sigh of relief.
"So that's why you dared to agree to Kraven's mission, right?"
"Yeah, I told you, I wouldn't do something as suicidal as that."
"This is truly great."
Serena clenched her fists excitedly: "With skills like these, you'll definitely be able to catch Kraven and his people off guard. As long as you bring Elder Emilia back, I'd like to see what he does then."
"Hahaha."
Locke Galahad smiled: "But we still shouldn't get too happy too soon. Before this whole thing is completely over, we can't let our guard down."
"You have a point."
After seeing that Locke Galahad possessed such skills, the worry between Serena's brows vanished by more than half.
"But since you had this kind of marksmanship, you should have told me earlier. You had me worried for nothing for so long."
"Me too." Erica nodded along: "I was almost so worried about this that I couldn't sleep."
"Uh... I'm sorry to have worried you both."
Locke Galahad scratched his head awkwardly, while Serena looked at Erica with a strange expression.
Erica realized she had said the wrong thing and quickly waved her hands to explain: "Serena, don't misunderstand! I was just worried that he might implicate you. After all, you're my only best friend, and I don't want to see you sad."
Serena nodded, not overthinking it.
It wasn't the time to dwell on romance, and besides, even if Erica liked Locke Galahad, it wasn't her place to interfere.
Seeing the atmosphere was off, Locke Galahad quickly stepped in to change the subject: "That's not important, that's not important. I still want to learn other combat methods. After all, if I only have marksmanship, it might not be enough, right?"
"Hmm, follow me."
Serena then took Erica's hand and headed toward the nearby combat room.
Locke Galahad looked at Erica's back and let out a sigh of relief; mainly, he still felt a bit guilty.
"What are you standing there for? Hurry up." Seeing he hadn't followed, Serena turned back and waved.
"Hey. Coming."
Locke Galahad quickly followed.
Three days is neither long nor short.
During this time, besides occasionally showing off his marksmanship to keep his feel for it at Erica's request, Locke Galahad spent the rest of his time learning Classical Boxing techniques up close with Serena.
This Classical Boxing was all about killing techniques, with every move aimed at being lethal.
In the blink of an eye, the day arrived to set out for the mission.
Thanks to the bonus of his Vampire constitution, plus the fact that Locke Galahad's mind was naturally sharp, he found the learning process quite easy.
In just three days, he had learned the Classical Boxing techniques taught by Serena well enough, and had fully mastered the basics.
Even on his panel, a new skill appeared: Lv1 Classical Boxing.
"To be able to learn to this level in three days, you can already be considered gifted."
After sparring with Locke Galahad one last time before setting off, Serena stared at him with admiration and praised him.
Locke Galahad panted heavily and said gratefully: "This is all thanks to your teaching. Otherwise, it would have been very difficult to master the basics of such a complex combat style in three days."
Don't let the name Classical Boxing fool you; it's actually closer to modern unrestricted mixed martial arts.
However, the parameters are much broader than unrestricted mixed martial arts.
Moreover, besides punches and kicks, Classical Boxing includes many close-quarters knife techniques, which is why it's more difficult to learn.
Regarding his humility, Serena waved her hand.
"You are the most talented person I've ever met. When I first learned Classical Boxing from Elder Emilia, it took me nearly half a month just to fully master the basics."
Erica, standing on the side, also applauded.
"Serena is absolutely right. You really are very talented. I think if you had more time, it wouldn't be impossible for you to even take on Kraven one-on-one."
You have to know that among the Vampire population, the strength of one's power is judged primarily by bloodline.
For a third-generation like Locke Galahad to be able to go one-on-one with a second-generation like Kraven is a shocking thing to even mention.
Locke Galahad was very calm inside; defeating Kraven was not his goal.
At most, it could only be considered a byproduct.
Serena checked Locke Galahad's strength one last time, then returned to the room with Erica to prepare his equipment.
"Take this and wear it underneath."
Looking at the super-thick bulletproof vest Serena handed over, Locke Galahad took it and put it straight on.
"And this."
Serena then pulled a translucent silver dagger from her waist and handed it over: "Sometimes guns can't solve everything. When the distance between you and the enemy disappears, please trust your instincts and this."
"Yes, I will."
Locke Galahad tucked the dagger into his waistband.
After all this was done, the entire room seemed to fall into a standstill. Locke Galahad and Serena sat side by side on the sofa, waiting for time to pass.
While Erica leaned against the door, closing her eyes to rest.
Tick, tock.
The hands of the clock turned, and soon it was 15 minutes before the agreed-upon mission time.
Locke Galahad tidied up and stood up tall. Seeing this, Serena immediately followed.
Then she stared straight at him, her eyes full of reluctance.
At this moment, Locke Galahad had no more reason to hesitate. Regardless of whether Serena agreed or not, he pulled her into his arms and lowered his head.
Seeing the red lips approaching, Serena did not retreat this time, but closed her eyes, trembling.
"Mmm..."
