65: bestowed name

The Great Bat's words had actually reminded him of something; compared to a Vampire, the Great Bat's size was indeed much smaller, so Locke Galahad didn't have too many doubts about what it said.

"If this Great Bat can directly advance into a Sequence 9 Extraordinary Creature after eating this, it wouldn't be a loss to give it to it."

After all, the gap between a Sequence 9 and a half-step Sequence 9 is quite significant.

One only needs to look at the gap between him and Kraven to know that.

Since he himself already possesses the strength of a Sequence 9, if he had the assistance of another Sequence 9 Extraordinary Creature—a flying bat—it would make executing various future missions much more convenient.

At the very least, when it comes to gathering information, it would definitely be much better than it is now.

So, Locke Galahad considered it for a while and finally made his decision. He looked at the Great Bat with a calm gaze and asked very seriously, "Are you sure you can advance into an Extraordinary Creature after eating it?"

"Mm-hmm." The Great Bat nodded hurriedly. "Master, I am very certain. This is what the deep cravings in my genes are telling me. As long as I eat it, it won't take many days for me to complete the transformation and become an Extraordinary Creature."

Locke Galahad pondered for a moment and waved his hand. "Then go ahead and eat it."

"Thank you, my Master. Thank you for your gift. I will certainly not betray my Master's trust."

Having received his approval, the Great Bat was so excited that it darted around in the air, much like an excited person, looking as if it were dancing with joy.

After all, the Great Bat wasn't human; if it were, it would probably have knelt down and kowtowed to Locke Galahad immediately.

Despite the Great Bat's display, Locke Galahad still spoke a word of warning. "However, I need to warn you: after eating this supernatural polymer, you must only obey my orders from now on. If you disobey, I shouldn't need to tell you the consequences, right?"

One must give a carrot after giving the stick; necessary discipline cannot be lacking.

He couldn't be sure whether the Great Bat would betray him after swallowing the supernatural polymer and transforming into an Extraordinary Creature.

Whether it turns fickle or stays loyal, his words were merely intended as a piece of advice in advance.

Furthermore, since killing Kraven could produce a supernatural polymer, if the Great Bat were to betray him in the future, it should be the same after killing it. That was why he wasn't very worried about this supernatural polymer going to waste.

"Please rest assured, my Master. Even if you didn't give this supernatural polymer to me, I would still serve you with all my heart."

The Great Bat shook its head hurriedly, expressing its loyalty to him.

Locke Galahad nodded. "Eat. After you transform, I still have many things for you to do."

"Yes." As soon as it finished speaking, the Great Bat used all its strength to flap its wings and fly to the tentacled eyeball, swallowing it in one gulp. It was clear that it was very impatient.

Locke Galahad observed from the side. After a while, ensuring that no accidents occurred after the Great Bat swallowed it, he finally felt relieved. He then began to ponder silently in his heart, "If this is the case, I suppose killing Marcus and William will also yield corresponding supernatural polymers. By then, I might be able to cultivate two Sequence 9 subordinates who belong entirely to me..."

After the Great Bat swallowed it, no strange reactions occurred. Instead, it immediately flew back to his shoulder, wrapped its entire body with its wings, and looked as if it were about to fall asleep.

"How do you feel?" Locke Galahad, startled by its actions, came back to his senses and asked, "Do you have any strange feelings?"

"I only feel that my body is burning hot, and I feel dizzy and want to hibernate."

"Uh... in that case, go back to your nest and transform in peace. I have other things to do and don't have time to look after you."

The Great Bat then intended to spread its wings and fly back to its nest on the roof of the ancient castle, but before it could flap its wings, Erica and Serena blocked the path in front of Locke Galahad and the bat.

Serena looked on with curiosity. "Locke Galahad, were you just talking to the bat?"

"Yes." Locke Galahad nodded calmly, not intending to hide it.

"My god, besides being able to control bats, you can actually understand what they say and converse with them? This is simply incredible!"

After hearing this, both Serena and Erica had looks of shock in their eyes, stunned by the scene.

To be honest, when Locke Galahad was talking to the bat just now, they were both very surprised and thought he was talking to himself. It wasn't until they saw the bat fly off and swallow that bizarre eyeball after Locke Galahad gave the order that they dared to confirm it.

"There is nothing magical about it; it is just some special ability." Locke Galahad explained simply with a smile.

The Great Bat looked somewhat surprised, glancing at the two women in front of it before turning back to look at Locke Galahad. "Squeak, squeak, squeak. My Master, are these the pets you have chosen?"

Hearing the Great Bat's words, the corners of Locke Galahad's mouth curled up slightly, and he nodded gently.

Seeing the two of them seemingly having a conversation, Serena and Erica were extra curious. "What were you just talking about? Why are you smiling, Locke Galahad?"

"Nothing much. The Great Bat was just greeting you."

"Really?" Erica widened her eyes and stared straight at the Great Bat.

The Great Bat felt helpless and was forced to lie, then nodded at Erica.

"Squeak, my Master, why did you lie?"

Locke Galahad merely gave it a warning look and replied in the bat language, "Do not ask about things you shouldn't. This is your Master's—my—business."

"Oh, alright. But my Master, lying is wrong."

Hearing this, Locke Galahad rolled his eyes helplessly and hurriedly waved his hand, intending to chase the Great Bat away immediately.

Erica stared at the Great Bat quite curiously and asked Locke Galahad, "Hey, since it can talk, what do you usually call it? Little Bat? Little F?"

"Squeak, my Master, please bestow a name upon me."

Before Locke Galahad could speak, the Great Bat spoke impatiently. Locke Galahad nodded and said to Serena, "He is called A-Fu, which means lucky."

The reason he chose this name was mainly because Locke Galahad inexplicably thought of a character from an animation he had seen before. He felt it was very fitting, so he bestowed this name upon the Great Bat.

Mainly, the name had a very good meaning, and he liked it very much.

"Squeak, thank you, my Master, for bestowing a name upon me." Having a name, the Great Bat immediately started hopping up and down on his shoulder; it was clear that it was very happy.

Seeing this, Serena stepped forward and gently poked A-Fu's wing. "A-Fu? That's a very nice name. Little guy, remember to address me as Serena when you see me in the future."

"By the way, A-Fu, remember to address me as Lady Erica when you see me in the future." Erica also leaned in, staring at the Great Bat, and said quite mischievously, "Otherwise, I will complain to your Master."

Because of their affection for Locke Galahad, both of them had quite a favorable impression of his pet bat.

A-Fu looked back at Locke Galahad. "Squeak, my Master, shall I take my leave then?"

"Go. If you encounter any difficulties during your transformation, you can come to me." Locke Galahad nodded and gave a few instructions. Afterward, A-Fu chirped twice and spread its wings to leave.

After A-Fu left, Locke Galahad began to search for a suitable weapon in Serena's equipment room.

He mainly wanted to see if there were any handy melee weapons; if he only used a dagger, it would be a bit too short if he encountered a very powerful enemy.

"Take a look at this one. How is it?"
