16: double agent
Underground, at the entrance of the conference room.
Erica, who had just come out, ran into Serena, who was on her way to discuss countermeasures with Kraven.
Her eyes darted, and a brilliant idea immediately popped into her head. She pulled Serena into a corner.
Serena frowned slightly, her cold face showing a hint of confusion: "Erica, what are you doing? Is there something you want to say to me?"
"Shh..." Erica held a finger to her lips, then said in a voice as faint as a mosquito's buzz: "Serena, keep it down. Don't let Kraven hear us."
"Let him hear if he wants to. What could he possibly do to me?" Serena pursed her lips, completely unbothered by it.
However, despite saying that, she subconsciously lowered her voice.
Because she wanted to see what kind of medicine her best friend was selling in her gourd—acting so mysterious and afraid of being overheard.
"Go ahead, what is it?"
Erica shook her head and looked left and right down the corridor, ensuring no other Vampires were around, before saying:
"Kraven is very dissatisfied with you saving a human. He ordered me to monitor your little boyfriend. It seems he doesn't want your little boyfriend to be with you..."
Erica spoke ambiguously, leaving plenty of room for Serena's imagination.
"Who is he? Does he have the right to manage my affairs?" Serena's eyebrows arched, and the rise and fall of her chest, wrapped in leather, became more pronounced.
The accumulated grievances against Kraven, at this moment, when he targeted Locke Galahad, completely ignited into a nameless rage within her.
In truth, Serena had long been dissatisfied with Kraven.
After all, when she previously asked him to provide men to investigate the Werewolf Clan, he was unwilling, but she let it slide, as she could investigate it herself.
But now, the person she saved was not only someone of great significance to the Werewolf Clan, but also her own savior. For him to be badmouthing behind her back—and worse, to actually want to use underhanded tactics to deal with Locke Galahad—how could she not be furious?
After Erica finished speaking, she watched quietly. Upon noticing Serena's expression clearly shift, she knew her plan to sow discord had succeeded.
Thus, a smile of success could not help but appear on her face again.
"It really was easy. I don't believe you, Kraven, can escape from my grasp, hehe."
However, to prevent Kraven from finding out what she had done in private, she carefully added a reminder:
"Serena, my dear friend, you must absolutely not tell anyone else that I told you this. If you weren't my friend, I wouldn't have told you. You must, absolutely must, not betray me."
"Don't worry, I know."
Serena nodded and patted Erica's hand: "Thank you for taking the risk to tell me these things. Otherwise, if something happened later, I'm afraid I would have been kept in the dark by Kraven."
Thinking that if it weren't for Erica, her relationship with Locke Galahad might have been ruined, Serena's dissatisfaction with Kraven grew even higher, even faintly reaching a level of disgust.
"Alright, I'm leaving. You must remember to keep my secret, okay?"
After saying this, Erica skipped off toward the room where Locke Galahad was staying. Although she didn't intend to do anything, she at least had to put on a show for Kraven.
After Erica left, Serena looked at the conference room with eyes full of deep disdain.
"Tsk..."
Kraven was currently acting as the leader of the Vampire Clan. If there were any other way, she really wouldn't want to go in and discuss countermeasures with him.
Suppressing the nausea in her heart, Serena, wearing a frosty expression, pushed the door open and went in.
When Kraven saw her enter, he immediately walked over with a smile and greeted her cordially: "Serena, you're here. Have a seat."
Tsk— Serena sat in her seat and "tsked" again with a look of disdain, then turned her head to the side, not wanting to pay him any attention at all.
Kraven hadn't yet noticed the change in her demeanor. He continued to smile and hypocritically offered words of concern: "I heard you were attacked by Werewolves tonight. You weren't hurt, were you?"
"Whether I'm hurt or not, what does that have to do with you?" Serena kept staring at the portrait of the Vampire Progenitor in the hall, not looking at him at all.
"Uh..." Kraven was at a loss for words, thinking to himself: "What's wrong with her today? Did I do something wrong? I cared about her the moment she returned; isn't that enough? What on earth do I need to do to capture her heart..."
In the past, although Serena's expression was cold, she was indifferent toward Kraven. However, because of the events that had just transpired, Serena's feelings toward him instantly shifted from indifference to disgust.
"Are you feeling unwell somewhere?"
"What does that have to do with you?"
Serena's face was as cold as ice, her brows tightly knitted, wanting to end this meeting quickly: "Stop talking about these unimportant things. I came to talk to you about dealing with the Werewolf Clan."
"The Werewolves are nothing to fear." Kraven waved his hand, saying expressionlessly: "Their main force was defeated by me long ago. What remains are merely a few scattered wolf pups; they pose no threat to us Vampires."
"Impossible, it is absolutely impossible that there are only a few scattered ones." Serena thought of Lucien's outrageous speed and monstrous combat power, slammed the table, and stood up immediately: "What we encountered was definitely the main force of the Werewolf Clan. Among them, there was one whose strength could rival my godfather."
"That was just you misseeing things, having hallucinations." Kraven said expressionlessly, continuing to refute: "The Werewolf Clan was long ago slaughtered by me to the last one. This is recorded in the history books of the Vampires, and even the three Elders are aware of it."
"I absolutely did not missee anything. Before sending people to investigate, you cannot so arbitrarily conclude that the Werewolves are nothing to fear." Serena remained obstinate, staring at him fixedly.
However, what she didn't know was that no matter how she argued, Kraven would never agree. Because if the fact that the Werewolf Clan's main force was still alive were confirmed, Kraven's lies would crumble, and even his collusion with the Werewolf Clan would be exposed.
If that happened, he would definitely face the judgment of the Council of Elders and be executed directly by sunlight. Therefore, Kraven would absolutely never acknowledge what she said.
"Say no more, Serena. I think you are tired and having hallucinations." Kraven waved his hand, his pupils constantly narrowing. A hint of killing intent had already welled up in his heart, and his tone turned icy: "If you had really encountered the main force of the Werewolf Clan, relying just on you and that pretty boy, could the two of you have broken through?"
Serena's face was void of expression, as cold as a ten-thousand-year-old iceberg. She just glared at him and turned to leave.
However, just as she was about to leave the doorway, Kraven deliberately called out to her: "Elder Emilia is about to return. If you still have any questions then, you can feel free to report them to her."
Serena's footsteps paused, but she did not turn back. Her tone deepened: "I will. Rest assured, I will... report all of your actions to the Elder."
"And one more thing..."
